I don’t believe in motivation. It’s volatile. It is my firm belief that if you want to change the world, you have to be truly driven to do it. You have to want it so bad, that even when you don’t feel like working at it, you’ll do it anyway. I believe in building habits--positive habits that, when persistently worked at, build towards your goals until you eventually reach them. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, I had been in the darkest place I’d ever been. My mother had just left for Vietnam a month prior and was going to stay there for two more. I was alone. I began to struggle in school. I started losing sleep and wondering what I’d do with myself. While in that dark place, I found my flame. It was exacerbated by the desire to help those who were also lost and broken. Thinking about how I could help those who were stuck at home as well, I realized that I could share my drive online. I would lead by example by showing others just how much one person can accomplish when they are truly driven to do it. I tested my resolve and started producing online content where I’d study every day for 12 hours. It was a big risk. I’d have to invest a lot of money and time into something unprecedented. I was ready, however, and started on March 20, 2020. It’s now March 20, 2021. After over 300 live streams, I studied 2,880 hours and my flame is stronger than the day I started. I built a following of hard workers whose flame was ignited by mine.

Hi! I just wanted to comment because I genuinely feel like I might have passed a course purely thanks to you XD
I saw your "how I studied 12 hours a day for over a year" video after having the worst day. I felt extremely depressed and anxious over a really big exam that I hadn't even started studying for. That video made me realize that I actually want to succeed. I'm terrified of failing which is why I don't even start to work toward my goals.
After watching that video it was 10 pm I still had time until 10am to study. And I did!
I pulled an all-nighter and studied 8 sessions (slept 1 hour) and used the 9th session for my exam. I don't know yet if I passed but I for sure learned a lot during those 8 sessions. Regardless of my grade, I'm really grateful to you!
Update: I got a 4 (out of 5)! I'm so happy and thank you for the likes and comments :)
It's sometimes really hard to start studying but you can do it and I believe in you!
Update 2: This comment ended up with so many likes that I just want to say a few things. Pulling an all-nighter is not a sustainable way to study. Personally, I don't even think you should study 12 hours a day but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. In my situation I couldn't wait for another exam day and I would have had to retake the course if I didn't pass.
Do not let all-nighters become a habit because you will feel awful the next couple of days after and you won't actually learn anything long-term.
Grades are not something you should risk your health for so please do not take my story as a motivation to start pulling all-nighters.

@@xodiac_YT You know what the crazy thing is? He only studies 10 hours and 20 minutes because he takes a total of 10, 10 minute breaks so 10 * 10 = 100 minutes, 12 hours = 720
720 - 100 = 620
620 / 60 = 10.3333,
1/3rd of an hour is 20 minutes.
Still though, it's very commendable how hard he works!

It's 12am, and I decided to pull 12 hours on no sleep studying instead of resting, I have so much to catch up on, and I let myself slack off so hard for the past 2 weeks and I feel bad about it, so I thought hey, let's make ourselves proud, and finish this at once, I don't have class tomorrow, so I'll sleep in when I'm done. I have an introduction to nuclear physics paper to go through, 20 pages worth of practice exercices, and introduction to genetics with 10 pages worth of practice exercices. good luck!

Normaly i only study like 20 minutes, then i get headache and am done for the day. I have problems motivating myself to study. But seeing you studying and others in discord, gives me the strength to push through - in fact i just did a 10hour study marathon (3am to 1pm). Seriously that's awesome. It seems to work. Yoo sameee! I used to be such a lazy kid back then. I thought my grades were always depends on how good my teacher explaining the subject. Suddenly it was pandemic so my teacher cant do really much everything they used to do. Then i stumble upon the video that you just mention and it was LIFE CHANGING! I went from below average kid to being awarded the best student in my whole institution! And now im on a scholarship to studying abroad. Thanks James.

I'm probably going to use this study session for work - forever! Thanks.
I have exams after 20 days and I feel like I'm so behind, plus I'm travelling for 5 days next week and won't be able to study the whole 5 days so I really gotta finish A LOT of studying before I travel (I have 7 days, Thursday (today), Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday). I decided to study 12 hours a day (including me having my classes) for these 7 days so yeah let's do it.
Thursday: done with 5 hours. was only able to do 5, need to get my drive higher to finish them. until tomorrow
Friday: done with only 3.5 hours. I took a break which turned into a pause. I am mad at myself but I beleive I have another chance on Saturday to do better.
Saturday: woohoo! Today was a win. I managed to study 6 hours which is A LOT for me, and I realized I won't hit the 12 hour mark sustainably immediately, so I am taking my time. Slow progress is still progress. Today was an achievement, and I can proudly say I studied 6 hours today :) Until tomorrow (and new achievements).
Sunday: did 3.5 hours only. i am feeling soo down.

And of course I'll be doing back stretches because that's a lot a of sitting 🗿.

Edit: Helloz, it's 30th March today. Regarding my last exams that I was studying for in Decemeber and January, I aced 2 and failed 1 and right now I am studying for another 3 exams in May and June including the subjects I failed in January.
Alhamdulilah (how muslims say 'thank god') I am not that disappointed by failing that subject in January because I did do very well in the other 2 and I know my weak points in the subject I failed + I saw this coming, I messed up during the exam hall SO BAD I did something stupid, nevermind.

Study 4✨: started at 6:15am and ended around 7:30am. Decided to eat my breakfast and go sleep for 3 hrs cause didn't sleep last night
