- With testing over the first of Amtraks' new locomotives enters road service on train 171 seen here arriving at Penn Station New York with Amtraks' President on the head end. The press is on hand for the event after which Engine 600 pulls smoothly off nine track on time bound for Washington DC.
I remember as these were coming East going just outside Washington to catch them hitched on to mainly the 30.
Im watching this 7 years later and I see the ACS 64s all over the place as regionals!
Very picturesque but what is it? Dual mode, electric, what? Did you not find out anything?
It's a electric locomotive
The only news is that 3 Amtrak trains detailed this week , duh, oh in other news this first Train voyage didn't crash and kill anybody , go Amtrak go USA . Drug test all engineers before boarding .
What I find fascinating is the percentage of each type of car in the fleet that has been out of service at some point, if not retired, due to being involved in a wreck. For example, it's like half the Superliners. Airlines would be shut down if they had loss rates a fraction of that.
Oh, and I'm making a full Corridor trip next month.
That's one butt ugly loco with the duel cabs.
Hey, be quiet you’re just a hater it’s a beautiful locomotive and it’s my favorite probably don’t even know what it’s like to be on Amtrak, so I bet you better shut your mouth and look at the beautiful locomotive. You’re just a hater like the rest of them be quiet and never go to the comments anymore.
Beautiful Loco, I assume it was made by Siemens?.
It is made by Siemens

How Does The Engineer Move On ACS64 From Front End To The Back Cab Of The ACS64 Locomotive Without Getting Out Kinda Confused.
walkway through center of locomotive
at least its not a tube, as the B-29 had.
NARROW WALK THRU.
I think I would like an A-B-B-A consist on my railroad, but not the dual cab unit. ♡ P.S. Hello from the Tracy Mountain Railway in Colorado. ♡ T.E.N.
Must of been the lowest bidder
It’s ugly.
nah its beautiful see it running at full speed and its gonna be beautiful
Why are we buying Euro-trash cast-off equipment..???
Is good price.
What are you talking about? It’s the most powerful locomotive in the US at 8,600 hp, had regen braking, and it’s reliable.
And the AEM-7 wasn't "Eurotrash"? The HHP-8 wasn't "Eurotrash"?
