Guys, I just found that I made a huge mistake on the Body Comparison part! The new LOOKS AA doll has the Afra skin tone, so her skin color is not the same with Nikki, Claudette, and Jean Michel Basquiat. Her skin color should be similar to Pop Life AA (pivotal) and the mtm doll mentioned in the video. Really sorry for the wrong information.
It's a shame that these dolls are coming with flawed makeup, it would really bother me if I received one with messed up lips or eyes. I never remember this being such a common issue with dolls when I was a kid. I do think this doll is gorgeous, i really hope maybe they will be released in brick and mortar stores.
I am encountering these types of quality control issues a lot with Barbie since I recently started collecting again after many years. The 40th Anniversary Black Barbie with the Selma sculpt had the same issue with the lips (maybe because they are full). Like you, I don’t think these issues were there as much in the past. I am crossing my fingers for the Looks dolls, but it will be months until I get mine anyway. At least they appear not to have pixelated eyes.
I don't understand why in the last time so many darker skin dolls comes with a curvy body , the dolls feels so strange in the hand with the big body ....... not sure how kids feel if they hold a big curvy doll in the hand .
I'm also an adult collector, now I got at least 5 curvy made to move dolls. Just few years ago was my thought that Mattel would never produce so many curvy dolls ...... now they make too many, it seems that 1 of 4 dolls is always a curvy. :( My favorite made to move bodytype is the tall followed by the regular, on 3 is the petite and on 4th position the curvy. @@googleuser7454
