- For 6 days and 6 nights, I toiled for untold and seemingly endless hours, breaking my brain trying to figure out the trigonometry of all these triangles. The universe seemed to be conspiring against me - even had other plans, and it seemed my dream of building the ultimate Dragline Bucket Excavator was slipping away. Yet, I refused to give up, for I knew that a true RC GOLD hero never falters in the face of adversity. I've never been a "Math person", but I fiddle, and I research until I get it right. The GOLD must be GOTTEN, from deep in the corners of the creek.. but how? Let me show you.
The awe-inspiring creation before you is an all-metal 1/14th scale radio controlled Dragline Bucket Excavator, weighing in at a whopping 80lbs and spanning 8ft in length.
Crafted with ingenuity and resourcefulness, this behemoth boasts 16 pulley's, 7 powerful motors and 6 electronic speed controls, fuelled by a dual battery array - a 7000mah Lipo 3s battery and a 4000mah 3s Lipo battery for the monster tracks. The towering boom, standing at 6ft, was ingeniously constructed from an aluminum woodworking level, and a fabricated 2.5" aluminum mast serves as the mechanical fulcrum.
Building a machine of this scale was a dream that had eluded RCSparks, for no such Goliath of a machine was readily available for purchase. But with a heart full of courage and determination, RCSparks took matters into their own hands and brought this RCSparks original design to life.
And then, with a stroke of inspiration, the pieces fell into place, and the machine was born. A triumph of ingenuity and resourcefulness, a true testament to the human spirit. Well played, universe - you thought you could break me, but I emerged victorious.
The BiG JOHNSON - became THE BiGGEST JOHNSON.
Now, with this epic creation by my side, I am ready to conquer any RC GOLD Mining challenge that comes my way, and the search for GOLD will never cease. The journey may be long and arduous, but with my heroic Dragline Bucket Excavator by my side, I fear no challenge, for I am a Robotic GOLD MiNER, and I will never give up.

Awesome "rebuild". Some suggestions from a crane operator, where your boom hoist cables ends on the boom mast, move the anchor point to the counterweight bracket. As it is, you only have a single part pull from the boom hoist winch, to the mast. If you dead end the boom wire to the counter weight, you will have a two part pull on the boom mast, and cut the boom speed in half. Second, if you shorten the "dump rope", you can get a higher carry angle so material doesn't spill out after digging. The dump wire is the small wire from the drag line up to the hoist wire, and back the to top of the bucket. Can't wait to see it dig!
Absolutely enjoying watching gold again. We all miss seeing the boys from RUclipsgold but we all know times change as should we change. This drag line dredge is an amazing build. Keep up the amazing content
This is what hobby rc is. Building your own. Not just buying something that is already made.
That's awesome I'm loving the new rc for gold cant wait to see it in action you should do a pov shot from inside the bucket #rcsparks
Just when I thought you couldn't impress me anymore you go and build an absolute masterpiece of a unit!
Bravo good sir I will NEVER doubt you again.
Edit:I thought the boom looked like a level when I first saw it,friggin ingenious!
I know that since I am alone most of the time now, my mine site better become more efficient at getting the gold - and even in the rain. This way, I don't have to worry about leaky hydraulics, nor having to get into the water.. this should reach without a problem... I can setup a wash plant on the side of the shore, and dump right into it.. or at least that is what my vision is. cheers.
This excavator can crack a lot So be rich!!!~~~ Thumbs wide up!!👍👍💯👍👍
I'd say "simply amazing " but I think that " difficulty amazing " fits better...WOW!!!😮
Another awsome build by you!!!! Thank you for sharing!!!!
Excited to see you break ground with it! What a monster, the Big Johnson's been Frankenstein'd! Have to call it the Big Red Frank now lol
I’m very excited to see this in action tomorrow!!!!
That is a wicked piece. I hope it catches all the gold for you.
That’s insane one of if not your best build ever
Wow this is amazing 🤩 super rad drag line 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Amazing build, realy a unique machine. Cant imagine the struggles of creating all the new mecanism. But the final product, all worth it.
That is exquisite piece of it truly is.💯👊👍
Good to finally see a Dragline!!!
That's truly sweet to see and definitely needed to dig right out of the creek can't wait to see it digging built not bought awesome creativity
Haven’t commented in awhile, but that is wicked! What a use for repurposed equipment and to come up with that build. Great idea from a commenter and to turn it into reality, Friggin AWESOME! Great job! You know what that bucket needs is teeth for digging.
Holy heck Medic that is bloody awesome!
U went over the top on this one. Go get diggin'!!
Old school bucket line style...love it
6 ft level for boom? great idea
Incredible design and execution! I can't freaking wait to see that thing dredging the creek!
Simply put that’s BADASS!!
You should try to get figures of all the old RUclips crew for the vehicles. Just a nostalgic way to honor the old crew that allowed the show to become what it is today.
Wow very impressive and really awesome thanx for sharing
Well that is pretty damn cool!
Always good to repurpose old tools . I knew that was a level by the whole I the side ..damn good job
That so cool man can't wait to see it moving paydirt.
Medic this is fucking incredible! I don't know what else to say 🤷♂️. I watched all the videos when you first built Big Johnson and was blown away then. Absolutely love this channel sir! Keep up the amazing works. Cheers
Brother, standing in front of this machine, I am awe-struck at how large this sucker is. This is as much Johnson as I can handle comfortably..
That looks amazing. I like what you did
Such a sweet build.
Oh wow that’s just outstanding dude great job
Ohh yeah this is the proper fun way to build stuff, you got and idea and just start to scavening your farm for material and just build it with what you found laying arround. Cant wait to see it in action.
Very creative 👍👍👍 it’s gonna work like a charm 👌👌👌
Wow Sr that’s pretty amazing.
Your local hardware store loves you!
That is a thing of beauty🎉
Pretty cool DJ Medic. 😎
big j is back in the house, absolutely loving this season of Gold
❤
Wow now this is amazing I love how you made this the lines are crazy winches
Thank you. Best use of a Johnson I have seen on You Tube.😅
Idk how i missed this video even though ive seen the ones with it in action when u uploaded them. But Bro this thing is KING of the GOLDEN CREEK!😂😂 super cool. Keep taking RC to the Moon!
Wow that’s awesome medic, this is going to be a great gold season yeah I just know it 👍👍😎
What a beautiful Johnson
I get light headed from it.. lmao
1 of my favorite books is mike mulligan and his steam shovel love your cable shovel what a beast
Yep I recognize the weights just awesome dude
I can’t wait to this in action on the creek claim 😊
My God!!! That IS the coolest piece of equipment you have! Well done! 👏
I knew that was an old aluminum level lol.!! Hell yeah man🤙🏻🤙🏻
Holy sh!t bro! Thats friggin awesome! Ive always loved big drag lines. Congrats on figuring out how to make it work. Its been awhike since ive seen one but i think the way the bucket dumps is set up slightly different, but other than that you nailed it. I think it lifts the back of the bucket without changing position of the bucket so you can load trucks and what not
I rarely write comments but, I have to say, you deserve a lot of credit for this. Seems quite well balanced. Now just waiting to see it under load.
Lets see big johnson get to work!
That’s Awesome!!!!👍
I tell ya Sparks , u'v out done yourself again. Diggin it kidd
Yowwww what a big upgrade to Big I mean BIGGER Johnson looks more awesome and better...😱😱😱
Bro, very impressive to say the least
I "dig" it 👍 pun kind of intended. Looks sick 👍🤘✌️❤️
ALOHA MEDIC!!!! UR ONE "AKAMINE " (smart) GUY kahala from OAHU
By faaar the most rigged vehicle you've got in house.... the way u used many different things to make it work just wowed me... very very well done imo 👏 looks awesome and can't wait to see what you've got in store for us in this new season of YTG. Keep on rockn' Medic ✊️
That is some cool shit, my Northern friend. Very nice engineering and repurposing
My family has a northwest model 6 dragline with a 2 yard bucket for our gravel pit this is awesome
Loving the big “J”? Can’t wait for the next video.
Bad ass bro. Good job
That's wicked cool
Wow, great job! This machine is super neat, definitely curious how it will do in action.
Wow man I had a hard time believing that the boom was six foot long but as soon as I seen that the bucket was a trailer hitch I believed it
Holy cow that things sick
Having built a couple of rc drag lines , fixed boom works great and only need 2 winch motors one for drag one for lift , simplicity is the key . Bucket i made out of 50mm box on your scale 75 or 100mm box would not be out of place . You will get frustrated at the small amount of material they move especially after a loader . Still they are lots of fun
Pete, brother.. Frustrated is not even a consideration when you get to build something this cool :) The fact that I can now get into the creek corner (I think) makes this a tool that we can access areas we couldnt get with the loader! So much fun!!
@@TheRealRCSparks In the right material they are fun hell i moved 10 cubic meters of builders mix with mine wore out 3 toy grade cranes and a bucket made out of 50mm x 1.5 box section . Once you get used to the controls you ok I went into a type of vegetable state and time vanished except for changing batteries every 30min . It is a good thing. I have always made or modified my accessories ys it is satisfying. For those starting out wanting a drag line I recommend a huina 1:14 crawler crane fix the boom with cable ties front winch becomes drag and rear winch becomes lift and change the string to ss wire just can't remember the size . Most importantly have fun does not matter the rc grade or cost it is getting outside and playing. Hell i am 64 and only got into rc about 2 years ago wish i found it sooner
Im bingeing these episodes lol
That is so cool.
right on, super cool man
Big johnson got even bigger!
Finally more rc gold
Dude that is Awesome great job !!!!!! could you have used the old bucket from Big Johnson ?
OOOOMMMMGGGGG so sick !!!!!
I'm still lost 🤣🤣 but atleast you understand how it works and somewhat know what your doing 🤣 great workmanship you deserve a rest 👊🏼😎🤙🏼🇬🇧💨💨💨
Nice work
Simply amazing, well done. Can’t wait to see it in action I hope it has enough torque and power to pick up a nice load. My hat is off to you again sir. My mind is officially blown.
Genius!!!
I need a measuring tape to see the scale of this stuff!
Hi how you doing, Good video like watching.,,,,,
What about a cat 983/977/973 traxcavator to tend for it it? I’d imagine a 973 to be the easiest. The house looks close to a wheel loader. Regardless, great content. Thank you for the laughs!
You definitely need a much bigger bucket.
That's well cool
That is badass
Finally I have been telling you for years to get a dragline you need to check out Weiss Brothers they make a 1/14 scale RC 4100 Manitowoc Dragline
I have tried to contact them, they never got back to me.. so I had to build one myself! Im kinda glad they never got back to me.. it pushed me outside my comfort zone.. and really advanced my knowledge!
@@TheRealRCSparks you did a awesome job and that probably saved you 10 grand or more from buying one
How cool is that, keep enjoying your RC trucks. How quite is it out where you live
Brother this is fucking fantastic 👌 I know you went through hell with this one. But you definitely won this battle. Great job my guy 😎💙💙🤙
THE BIGGER JOHNSON!
Very cool
That's so bad ass
That looks great. One thing, for the dredging, would it help you to put a flywire screen of sorts in the bucket so you don't lose the big bits? That way the water can run threw but the earth/mud and more importantly the "gold" would stay in the bucket until you empty it?
Oh yes brother, a screen is going in. :)
@@TheRealRCSparks face palming myself. Of course it is, building that Bigger Johnson I am sure you have already thought of everything. Loving this series already, thanks for the creative content as usual Medic.
so cool
Man i wanted to see it dig
Just 👍!
That is sweet
Wow brotha! Fuckin sweet build!
NEEDS A BIGGER BUCKET!! LOL...DIGGIN IT
Holy shit no kidding 6 foot level we have a black one in our trailer we use for putting in sliding glass door walls make sure everything straight in Plum
Two words (Holy Duck)
