I also had this question before when I am starting my spiritual journey. I asked my former boss, who is also a pastor; on how will I start my Bible readings. He told me to start with the gospels first with John, then yun next three, Matthew, Luke, and Mark. Then doon ko nakita how great yun buhay ni Jesus Christ. Everyday I am still trying to religiously read atleast one chapter a day pag gising ko or atleast a verse to start up my day. Writing my thoughts about my readings also really helped me to appreciate God’s Word.

At totoo nga, hindi mo talaga maiintindihan ang Bible unless basahin mo yung buong book. Marami kasi nagbabasa, verse by verse lang talaga. Sa isang verse, pwede magkaroon ng maraming interpretation. The reason kung bakit napakaraming religions ngayon. Most importantly, we cannot understand the Bible by ourselves only. Before starting to read, you have to pray for the guidance of the HOLY SPRIRIT. It is the Holy Spirit who will teach you the meaning of every verse that you are reading.

Hi Ms. Rica! I've been reading the Bible for 7 years na. I also use the SOAP method and what I found that helps me better "observe" Scripture is by using a dictionary! ☺ Minsan kasi, alam natin yon meaning ng word, pero pag binasa mo ano yong mismong definition nya (minsan various din kasi), mas maiintindihan mo ang context or mas magspeak sa'yo yong verse. I also use post-its to document learning nuggets. Aaand I also invested in a life-application study Bible! Hope this helps someone in their journey! ❤

Important thing that readers should know before reading the bible: -It consists of different genres and we interpret them either literally, figuratively, symbolically depending on the genre. -The bible is not about us, it is about Jesus. We are not the David in the Goliath story, rather it demonstrates the power that God can do for us when we abide in Him. -There is only one interpretation of the bible and it's NOT eisegesis (interpreting text in such a way as to introduce one's own presuppositions, agendas or biases), NOT narcigesis (interpreting Scripture in a highly PERSONAL, even selfish way.), the correct way is through exegesis (critical explanation or interpretation of a text); Who wrote it? Why did he write it? When was it written? To whom was it addressed? Does it apply to us or was it specifically for certain people during a certain period? -It's okay to not get it the first time Hope this helps
For someone like me na really seeking for that close relationship to the Lord good thing I have my boyfriend who leads me read the Bible. and Thanks to you Ms.Rica! kaya ako nagsimula magbasa ng bible is dahil sa inyo.. that was May 2020.. feel so lost and nde ko rin alam sobrang dame iniisip gulong gulo then napanood ko yung life testimony niyo here sa yt na ewan ko bigla na lang nag appear sa recommended videos ko siguro sinadya ni God yun and parang may nagsasabi skn "panuorin mo toh!" and then nakita ko nalan sarili ko na umiiyak and then after nagpray ako ng sobra. Ewan ko naisip ko nalan bigla, mag install kaya ako ng bible sa fone ko and then thats it. After reading the bible.. i feel so light, i feel so at peace i feel joy na nde ko maexplain (nde naman ako nababaliw.. haha) pro bsta nde ko maexplain yung feeling na sobrang peace and joy and calm.. grabeh and sobrang naapreciate ko na yung worship songs ganun.. eto cguro yung feeling na "I found God" or God found me na.. :) basta Ang SAYA LANG! kaya Thank you talaga ms. rica :)

A former colleague always send me a link from OUR DAILY BREAD. At first, I just put a heart reaction on it. But, time comes that I open the link and read the daily devotions. There are times I don't receive one and I kind a miss it. So what I did is I downloaded the app, and it makes me happy just to read His word. These year I started to have my journal everytime I meet Him every morning. I just pray I will be able to continue reading it🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

I always thank to Lord for removing me in my SINFUL ways... PRAISE GOD 👏 for calling me His child. Hello Ms Rica. I liked the SOAP technique that you shared. I'd like to start doing it, as well as really setting a specific time of the day when I can read my bible and pray, without distractions. That made me reflect on my current quiet time. Thanks for the video. Just wanted to share that I have been a fan of yours since I was literally a kid. I even had the Rica Papaya soap hahaha. One time years ago (my fam and I went to church at VFort) and I got to sit next to you. You saw my bible (which had a kinda dryfit cloth cover with a pocket in the front) and said "ang cute ng bible mo". Then you asked permission to show it to your friend next to you and then you gave it back to me after. It was a memorable experience because my fave celeb thought that my bible was cute and that was my first and last interaction with you. Hahaha. Anyway, I admire your intelligence and how your videos are informative and insightful. I praise God for your testimony and how He's using you in this platform to share His Word and advance His Kingdom.

There are readings from the Old and New Testament each day. I highlight the lines that struck me. I hope to finish reading it finally, as I've never finished a Bible before. You're right that its words are alive and speak of God's love before and forever. It has helped me have time with God and understand Him more. Thank you for this content. I have recently been into your vlogs and podcast (pati vlog ni Ptr. Joe). I love your insights and your thought process. I have been enjoying your conversations. Also glad to know na meron palang narrative version of the Bible, i'll check that out. It is my goal to read the whole Bible (matagal na kong christian pero di ko pa nababasa ng buo) but when the pandemic happened i started again and now i am on 2 Kings. And I encountered so much stories i never knew na nasa Bible. As i continue to read, i began to notice na nag-iiba din yung approach ko. Nung una kasi i'll read it as it is. But now i ask questions like "Lord bakit kaya binanggit ito? Or why do they respect Elisha so much that i feel uncomfortable kasi baka ina-idol na nila si Elisha" and when i ask questions, i can process more sa binabasa ko. Sometimes i even start a discussion with my mom. 😊

It's called Daily interact planner from 'In his love' shop (I am NOT affliated with the shop). It also has tips on how to read the bible. Everyday indicated din ung bible chapters na pwede mo basahin to finish reading the bible in 1 year and may certain pages din where you can write prayer requests. May mga bible verses din per page. Pray about the time (the when). At first inisip ko na before bedtime but para relax but sadly it didnt work natutulugan ko ang magbasa. So I pray about it then God impress me wake up early morning. And yes I did, though 8 am ang pasok ko I would wake at 5 am do household chores,exercise a bit and then my quiet time with Him. Why ganun? Because pag nakikita ko makalat paligid ko I cant concentrate, and pag nakapag exercise a bit magigising ang diwa ko. and it wokred for me almosy a year now 🥰
4:00 - yes ms rica u are correct, 66 chapters sa protestant bible dahil tinanggal yong 7 chapters from the orig catholic bible (73 chapters). si Jesus pala ang mother tongue niya ay Aramaic at merong rebelasyon na "injeel" o Evangeli o Gospel of Jesus na binigay ang ating Panginoon at Tagapaglikha sa kanya. kasi kung pag-aralan ang lalo na NT halos si St Paul na nagsulat at yong 4 gospels according to Mark, Matthew, John, at Luke (buddy ni St.Paul) ay anonymous din ang mga writers.

Personal tip: I have 3 different Bible apps on my phone: First app for my Daily Psalm reading (one chapter each day). This is my morning reading - 2nd for Old Testament (One chapter a day starting from Genesis until you finish the whole O.T. - 3rd one for New Testament, one chapter a day starting at Matthew until you finish the entire N.T. I read the Old and the New Testament chapters in afternoon or evening when I have plenty of time. Through this I would be able to read the entire Bible by devoting one chapter a day.

I just started reading the Old Testament bible this yr lng pero sa phone ko kc wala akong bible mismo. Dahil first time ko at diko alam kung saan b ako magsisimula. So when I opened the bible from my phone ang unang nagpakita is the book of psalm, so un na ung una kong binasa and i finished the entire chapter within 13 days. And good thing nakita ko tong video n to ngaun so atleast magkakaroon ako ng guide. But I honestly admit na medyo mahirap intindihin and minsan lumilipad ang isip ko. Prying that God will guide me

I just recently bought the Reader's Digest Illustrated Edition Bible (RSV), bought it at the Book Sale Store for less than 600. It's huge and heavy, that would probably cost around 5K originally. There are pictures and it doesn't have verse numbers. It was a good find. The funny thing was, I went to that store 2 or 3 weeks after I decided to buy a Bible I loved. I just couldn't afford it at that time, so I said I'd come back for it, but sadly it wasn't available already. Then I found this Reader's Digest Bible. It was definitely cheaper, bigger, and heavier than the original one I was planning on buying.

I also use the SOAP method and what I found that helps me better "observe" Scripture is by using a dictionary! ☺ Minsan kasi, alam natin yon meaning ng word, pero pag binasa mo ano yong mismong definition nya (minsan various din kasi), mas maiintindihan mo ang context or mas magspeak sa'yo yong verse. I also use post-its to document learning nuggets. Aaand I also invested in a life-application study Bible! Hope this helps someone in their journey! ❤

Important thing that readers should know before reading the bible:
-It consists of different genres and we interpret them either literally, figuratively, symbolically depending on the genre.
-The bible is not about us, it is about Jesus. We are not the David in the Goliath story, rather it demonstrates the power that God can do for us when we abide in Him.
-There is only one interpretation of the bible and it's NOT eisegesis (interpreting text in such a way as to introduce one's own presuppositions, agendas or biases), NOT narcigesis (interpreting Scripture in a highly PERSONAL, even selfish way.), the correct way is through exegesis (critical explanation or interpretation of a text); Who wrote it? Why did he write it? When was it written? To whom was it addressed? Does it apply to us or was it specifically for certain people during a certain period?
-It's okay to not get it the first time

and Thanks to you Ms.Rica! kaya ako nagsimula magbasa ng bible is dahil sa inyo.. that was May 2020.. feel so lost and nde ko rin alam sobrang dame iniisip gulong gulo then napanood ko yung life testimony niyo here sa yt na ewan ko bigla na lang nag appear sa recommended videos ko siguro sinadya ni God yun and parang may nagsasabi skn "panuorin mo toh!" and then nakita ko nalan sarili ko na umiiyak and then after nagpray ako ng sobra. Ewan ko naisip ko nalan bigla, mag install kaya ako ng bible sa fone ko and then thats it. After reading the bible.. i feel so light, i feel so at peace i feel joy na nde ko maexplain (nde naman ako nababaliw.. haha) pro bsta nde ko maexplain yung feeling na sobrang peace and joy and calm.. grabeh and sobrang naapreciate ko na yung worship songs ganun.. eto cguro yung feeling na "I found God" or God found me na.. :) basta Ang SAYA LANG! kaya Thank you talaga ms. rica :)

A former colleague always send me a link from OUR DAILY BREAD. At first, I just put a heart reaction on it. But, time comes that I open the link and read the daily devotions. There are times I don't receive one and I kind a miss it. So what I did is I downloaded the app, and it makes me happy just to read His word. These year I started to have my journal everytime I meet Him every morning. I just pray I will be able to continue reading it🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Just wanted to share that I have been a fan of yours since I was literally a kid. I even had the Rica Papaya soap hahaha. One time years ago (my fam and I went to church at VFort) and I got to sit next to you. You saw my bible (which had a kinda dryfit cloth cover with a pocket in the front) and said "ang cute ng bible mo". Then you asked permission to show it to your friend next to you and then you gave it back to me after. It was a memorable experience because my fave celeb thought that my bible was cute and that was my first and last interaction with you. Hahaha. Anyway, I admire your intelligence and how your videos are informative and insightful. There are readings from the Old and New Testament each day. I highlight the lines that struck me. I hope to finish reading it finally, as I've never finished a Bible before. It is my goal to read the whole Bible (matagal na kong christian pero di ko pa nababasa ng buo) but when the pandemic happened i started again and now i am on 2 Kings. And I encountered so much stories i never knew na nasa Bible. As i continue to read, i began to notice na nag-iiba din yung approach ko. Nung una kasi i'll read it as it is. But now i ask questions like "Lord bakit kaya binanggit ito? Or why do they respect Elisha so much that i feel uncomfortable kasi baka ina-idol na nila si Elisha" and when i ask questions, i can process more sa binabasa ko. Sometimes i even start a discussion with my mom. 😊

It's called Daily interact planner from 'In his love' shop (I am NOT affliated with the shop). It also has tips on how to read the bible. Everyday indicated din ung bible chapters na pwede mo basahin to finish reading the bible in 1 year and may certain pages din where you can write prayer requests. May mga bible verses din per page. So yun po, I just wanna share it to others 😁 God bless!

Pray about the time (the when). At first inisip ko na before bedtime but para relax but sadly it didnt work natutulugan ko ang magbasa. So I pray about it then God impress me wake up early morning. And yes I did, though 8 am ang pasok ko I would wake at 5 am do household chores,exercise a bit and then my quiet time with Him. Why ganun? Because pag nakikita ko makalat paligid ko I cant concentrate, and pag nakapag exercise a bit magigising ang diwa ko. and it wokred for me almosy a year now 🥰

Its good to commit to a local church to help you with and this year our unit group called Joshua is doing a daily devotional every 5:30am ☺️ via gmeet. We started it lasy decemeber pa and committed to do in prin to have that deeper understanding of His Word sa book of ACTS kami po ☺️
Personal tip: I have 3 different Bible apps on my phone:
First app for my Daily Psalm reading (one chapter each day). This is my morning reading
- 2nd for Old Testament (One chapter a day starting from Genesis until you finish the whole O.T.
- 3rd one for New Testament, one chapter a day starting at Matthew until you finish the entire N.T.
I read the Old and the New Testament chapters in afternoon or evening when I have plenty of time. Through this I would be able to read the entire Bible by devoting one chapter a day.

I just started reading the Old Testament bible this yr lng pero sa phone ko kc wala akong bible mismo. Dahil first time ko at diko alam kung saan b ako magsisimula. So when I opened the bible from my phone ang unang nagpakita is the book of psalm, so un na ung una kong binasa and i finished the entire chapter within 13 days. And good thing nakita ko tong video n to ngaun so atleast magkakaroon ako ng guide. But I honestly admit na medyo mahirap intindihin and minsan lumilipad ang isip ko. Prying that God will guide me

I just recently bought the Reader's Digest Illustrated Edition Bible (RSV), bought it at the Book Sale Store for less than 600. It's huge and heavy, that would probably cost around 5K originally. There are pictures and it doesn't have verse numbers. It was a good find. The funny thing was, I went to that store 2 or 3 weeks after I decided to buy a Bible I loved. I just couldn't afford it at that time, so I said I'd come back for it, but sadly it wasn't available already. Then I found this Reader's Digest Bible. It was definitely cheaper, bigger, and heavier than the original one I was planning on buying.
