This is my first "game review". A title I feel is worthy of that effort.
Great review!
Since you volunteered this is your first review, I will give some unsolicited feedback. I've played the game a decent amount so was glad to see a review!
Very well written and spoken but too verbose. A bit of information overload already by the 3-4 min. Feels a bit closer to a game rant than review!
Needs some spacing to help digest the info!
Good luck !
@drzdeano thanks for the feedback. I appreciate it. 🫡
I wish this game got more recognition.
Purely for how utterly PORNOGRAPHIC the sound design is, my god.
Sound track is fantastic, and so much of the combat is reliant on audio cues.
It really was a suprise hit in my book.
@@CmdrTyrael Not to mention the weapon sounds, orchestra of cannons, rapid fire chain guns, flak cannons. SO much DAKKA.
I usually change a lot of sounds in the games I play, but I couldn't bring myself to swap neither the sound files nor the sprites in this because it is so beautifully done that it feels like giving all that hard work and its pristine result a massive middle finger
Played this...first playthrough I lost my main character and then couldn't find a lost city to run to...needless to say I was running from what looked to be an endless number of missiles. I loved it.
My first game ended when I decided to fire a missile strike to test the nukes.
A lot more nukes came back 🤣
@CmdrTyrael oh yeah...that was my fourth playthrough after I got the hang of long range missiles...I was hesitant but went feck it and launched. Needless to say I was unsurprisingly surprised 😮
Everybody gangsta until Tanc a lelek sounds...
Great video by the way.
The boss song that is actually your funeral march.... you just haven't died yet 🤣
Thanks for watching.
After a while, you realise. Tanc a lelec isn't playing for YOU. It's playing for THEM.
The Governor's real gangster until you tell him the People think you a prophet. Then suddenly you're rolling around with a Nomad MK II instead of duelling one.
As someone with a year's experience of Highfleet 1.16, this is pretty apt. Well done, Tarkhan.
Glad you agree. Thanks very much for watching. 🫡
Diegetic UI will always go hard
would definitely love a Let's Play series on this : )
Sure thing! I'm currently designing a better starting fleet. As the standard ship roles are a little funky.
This video serves justice to the brilliance of highfleet. The first game which I had similar amounts of fun since Most Wanted 2005, not because of the pace but the rush.
Thank you very much for watching. I felt this title deserved to be explained properly.
Have a great day 🫡
The ending... So brutal!
Only thing I'll say, get your fueling done first 😂
Lol don't go into that fight unprepared
Definitely one of the best games I ever played. I'd love some more replayability (story-wise) but even playing the same story over and over offers a lot of variability due to getting to know the characters, your actions etc..
i would say this game is one of the masterpieces made by russian developers
I saw it the other day and had to try it. I totally agree
Developer's previous game hammerfight is pretty great too
russians on their way to make bomb-ass unforgiving games
@@artraudgaming3575 AFAIK eastern europeans never made easy games
@@krellio9006 Tetris was not a difficult game.
Main problem is that you are Grand Duke and fleet commander but have to do work of entire officer crew.
I prefer a high speed, low drag approach centered around two heavy interceptors and an attack cruiser. The interceptors are my own design and date back to a version that let you squeeze a little more functionality into a little less tonnage due to building shenanigans. They are lost tech, essentially. Faster than the Lightning with twice the fire power. The cruiser is always different, though built around the same purpose: To smash Strike Groups head on. I set the main fleet on the most fuel efficient course while the interceptors (with their attendant fast tankers/sensor carriers) overwhelm garrisons, claim prize ships, and contact Tarkhans. Strike Groups are targets of opportunity for the main fleet, preferably softened up with bombers and cruise missiles. To this end ships joining the fleet deemed inefficient for combat are converted to plane and missile carriers whenever possible. When armor piercing ammunition is available for the interceptors they can also become very dangerous to larger ships. When you pay attention to where the bridge is located, you can sometimes knock enemies out in a single volley. The Sevastopol is an excellent backstop to a good cruiser, able to deal the final blow to a weakened Strike Group while suffering little damage itself.
Excellent plan! Thanks for letting us know the depths of your strategy.
I love a game that has large amount of tactical diversity, plus building your own ships is great.
This game will be reviewed by many after 20 years after its release as a gem which was found by a few lucky finders. Personally i have discovered this title because of article no. 5 meme and from the start I was sucked in by it's depressing atmosphere and absolutely fantastic design. Forget about all the silent hills, resident evil and other horror games. *THERMAL SIGNATURE DETECTED* is a thing which you should be scared of.
This game needs a multiplayer.
I would love to see multiplayer!
Amazing review , one of my fav games
Glad you enjoyed it
The game is a work of art
Almost all the voice lines used to be exclusively in russian.i kinda miss that lol
Just starting…wish me well! Thanks for the advice.
@ryanwade6052 good luck! Take your time, scout well, and you'll be a master in no time
I liked the game but it took me so long to understand whatever i was doing
thinking of adding multiplayer? You mean warcrimes WITH FRIENDS?
how good would it be. Nukes in the first minute XD
I wouldn't call this Dieselpunk, as that's an aesthetic from WWI to WWII. I would call this Sovietpunk. In fairness though, there isn't a lot of 'punk' to it. This isn't a 'punk' dystopian post-Soviet hellscape. This is just Kazakhstan if the magnetic poles reversed.
There's not that much of "soviet" aestetic in this game. It's more like Russian Empire + Dune + Das Boot.
@@Pavlik86 Oh, its Soviet military hardware from nomenclature to ergonomics. That RWR is ripped right out of a late 70's cockpit. You are correct in the Tsarist influence being heavy among the men themselves. Its sort of a return to the prior forms with the artifacts of a pre-collapse industrial time.
@@NikovK During the Empire’s time, phones already existed, but they looked too elegant for this setting. Apparently, that’s why they depicted more modern technologies, which are associated with the Soviet era by foreigners. But otherwise, the game’s aesthetics mainly relies on the pre-revolutionary Russia.
There is an old Russian film from 1970 called “White Sun of the Desert”. The author was clearly inspired by it when creating the setting for the game. You might want to check it out if you like the aesthetics of Highfleet. Just google it, the movie’s shots speak for themselves.
Dune Punk
HELL YES.
Target has been destroyed!
Many more will fall!
render strategy obsolete by using the ship editor to rp as lockheed martin engineers who just got handed their annual blank check from the us gov
Lmao I have done this build a more functional flagship and better starters.
I haven't tried the cube of death yet 💀
Meta always wins. No matter what game genre it is.
you can't lie to me! this is just dune
Where is Worm? I want to fight it!!
interesting but it looks far far too complicated and full of micromanagement for me, i have less and less time to play and can't deal with "puzzles" and stuff like that
Well, it's for people looking for immersion. That's what the video is about. And immersion demands a certain degree of realism - not breaking functions down into overlays and summaries. If you're looking for immersion in a game that's incredibly simplified, that's going to be a long search.
Be nice to hear an actual review, rather then some Chat gtp dialogue.
Lol that was my review and Voice. I have the skills to write without chat GPT. Also the first time I've ever reviewed a game.
But thanks for the constructive criticism.
😂
