What I love about the Demon Of Hatred is that after beating you out of the dodge system so hard with the chained ogre, you are put back into that souls style at the very end when at that point you have mastered parry system by that point... regardless of how i feel about the fight, I just love how delightfully evil the game was with pulling the rug from under you
I just think the health pool is incredibly tedious to deal with. Three health bars and each health bar feels about the length of two Isshin health bars. I have to spam R1 like 15 times to get 1/8 of the health bar down. It’s so unsatisfying and spongey. Meanwhile his fire attacks are not deflectable, he has ranged attacks with strict hitboxes, and runs away from you every 5 seconds. Charge attack is so weird since you have to jump out of the way. I get the appeal and I love the music, but god it’s such a chore to fight.
You can parry the demon’s physical attacks tho. You ain’t doin it right if you’re tryna dodge its feet, make sure you parry all of that shit, every little kick.
@@SJ-di5zu the worst part? if you're below him you don't even engage with the fire attacks a lot, just mindless slashing and avoid getting greedy to take dumb hits
Chained Ogre has me doing a hit and run more often than parrying. I’ve noticed some bosses are better with a hit and run strategy. Blazing Bull, Chained Ogre, Both Guardian Ape fights, and yes, Demon of Hatred. Even other bosses like Lady Butterfly and Sword Saint Isshin have proved to be easier to mix up hit and run with locking horns and changing between the two fighting styles. Ill defend these bosses, even if I’m the only one who will lmao😊
Demon of Hatred below the ape duo is just criminal. He is so different from every other boss but when the boss finally clicked for me it became my 2nd favorite fight after Isshin
Admittedly, I started playing the game a week or two back, and it was a shame seeing Gyobu so low. I feel like the timing of his attacks has enough variation to keep you on your toes, while never being too fast to keep up with. Still, can’t wait to finish it so that I can see how opinions differ. Also, Malenia is an excellent boss ruined by one mechanic. Lower the speed of waterfowl, and she’s the best boss in the game.
Nice to see Guardian Ape get some love! Btw, if you have the loaded spear prosthetic, you can use it on him when you stun him after deflecting the huge slam to pull out the centipede for extra posture damage.
Besides the Demon of Hatred, Divine Dragon, and especially True Monk placement, this list was very similar to my own. Also if you want to beat Demon of Hatred, use the umbrella, pretty simple
Inner geni isn’t difficult but man it’s the most fun back and forth sword fighting in the game. My favorite is inner isshin though with that mid air deflect is so sick
Inner owl though kicked my ass for literal days before I finally got him. Owl was always hard for me though either way. His fight on NG+7 charmless and bell toll makes me want to blow my brains out onto the controller.

Funnily enough, my experiences with the Sword Saint and Malenia are practically the opposite of Jack's. I managed to beat Malenia on my second attempt, but the Sword Saint took me 3 hours to defeat. One reviewer here gave it bottom tier, the other gave it 7th of 14, then let the first vent. Seems pretty divisive. BTW, score wise, worst is the ape duo.
Sekiro is my favorite game in the FromSoft catalog because it has, in my opinion, the best bosses and combat. Boss Rankings: 12. Guardan Ape Duo - Gank fights suck. 11. Great Shinobi Owl - He's kinda slow and keeps jumping instead of continuing with the constant swordplay reminiscent of Sword Saint's fight. 10. Divine Dragon - Aesthetically a 10/10, but she's too easy. However, the dragon has one of my favorite combos ever and it happens in the beginning of its 2nd phase when the music changes. 9. Isshin Ashina - I have the same complaints I have with Genichiro for this boss, but slightly worse. The hit-hit-deflect-hit-hit cycle in the first phase is way too boring and repetative, and his second phase has really cool gimmicks but sacrifices complex swordplay with avoiding simple fire attacks which I find to be less enjoyable and engaging. 8. Guardian Ape - The fight is a bit too slow and simple for me when compared to fast, complex, and expansive movesets of Lady Butterfly, Sword Saint, and Owl Father. I also missed it when Posture was a priority as opposed to health, but they switched that which is a shame because Posture gives me an incentive to actually perfect deflect. 7. Genichiro - This battle aged poorly to me. He used to be my favorite because of how fast he is, but the hit-hit-deflect-hit-hit cycle of the fight got way too repetative and simple. God-tier pacing, but too simple. 6. Emma The Gentle Blade - I love her attack paterns. I prefer to only deflect her since it's fun to figure out which attacks she'll pull out if I don't interrupt her. 5. Demon of Hatred - Forces you to be creative and is super satisfying to figure out. I disagree with the consensus that he's a "Souls Boss" since dodging sucks in Sekiro. I feel that jumping, deflecting, or using the umbrella is much much better at adjusting to his attacks. He also has my favorite arena. 4. Sword Saint - Has one of the most fun and complex movesets. That 2nd phase is one of my favorites ever. He uses THREE weapons and you have to determine what weapon he'll use and how you'll have to adjust to them. I also think it's cool that he's one of the few bosses in the FromSoftware catalog that are actually in their prime, making them all the more satisfying to defeat. 3. Lady Butterfly - The most fun boss to do a Deflect-only fight. She goes ape shit if you don't slash and she wil just keep attacking repeatedly and relentlessly, so only deflectng is fun as hell. When a combo ends, a new one starts near instantly. For this reason, this is why I only deflect her, so that I don't interrupt cool combos. 2. Corrupted Monk - Remember what I said about Lady Butterfly being the most fun "Deflect-only" boss... Well, I change my mind. I don't need words to explain the Godly rythm of this fight: ruclips.net/video/DRJhTU2f7wE/видео.html 1. Inner / Owl Father - The most fun boss EVER. He is fun to fight both aggressively and passively. He has the most satisfying combos to deflect from his running combo to his Mist Raven combo.
I think people dislike demon of hatred because he does feel like a bloodborne boss in sekiro a game without dodges for the most part I personally do find him very enjoyable also the two genichiros are occupying spaces in my top five spots inner being my absolute favorite boss and normal genichiro is my top four just below sword saint and Isshin ashina
Really happy you guys gave this game another chance. Not that it's my favorite, but it just didn't feel right that this was the only modern From Soft game to not get covered on the channel. i actually don't think demon of hatred is a case of git gud as much as you were playing the boss wrong. demon of hatred is all about finding exploitable responses to his heavily telegraphed attacks. quickly you'll find his dive bomb explosion move to be super valuable to respond. and know that locking yourself into an attack animation will leave you vulnerable to his dash attack. i think his five hit combo being dodgeable at the end is super unique and promotes a really cool playstyle. i think revisiting the game, demon of hatred is the only fight that demands you mix deflection with dodging, but the other fights reward you for that. this is a suitable thing for an end game optional boss to be in my opinion. its not suppose to be like the other bosses, because once you learn to beat it you'll realize it opens up a way more interesting dodging + deflection playstyle that you can reincorporate. i hated the boss at first too, but now i can recognize even if it isn't my favorite its a really well designed fight.
I disagree with only one thing on this list. That would be for me to switch True Corrupted Monk and Guardian Ape. The only reason I don't like Guardian Ape is because of that first phase. The second phase is amazing but that first phase ruins the fight for me. So if those two were swapped I would agree with the entire list.

Cy is just Rusty. It all makes sense now
I always thought the demon of hatred was fun, if not a bit of a drag in phase 3
The best boss is always gonna be one of the inner 3, tho
Melania is not a shit boss
She has a shitty move but overall shes amazing like all the other main bosses of eldin ring
Good video but (isshin the sword saint. deserves to be number one)
imo you are absoluletly wrong on Demon of Hatred. It's like my 3rd fav boss in this game.
Demon of hatred is not my favorite but still you are right they really did him dirty in this video he is a good boss
Incredible awesome great game and I love it!
as for the "wit" less is more, its grating and tryhardy otherwise, besides that good video, new subscriber
Can you do "South Park : the stick of truth boss fights, worst to best" ?
Funnily enough, that actually came up as a suggestion on patreon last month! I played the game when it came out and was a big fan, so that’s not out of the question by any means. If you check out our patreon you can find ways to ensure we cover it though!
@@Cytonox Who answered my comment, was it Jack or Alex ?
alex
I think you forgot Emma, Gentle Blade.
Let me know if I missed it in the vid
She’s counted as a phase of the Isshin Ashina fight, the same way Genichiro way of tomoe is for the sword saint
@@Cytonoxgotcha
"Gentle"
Lol, the game is just lying at that point. Sekiro in my save file still has a few slipped discs from those wrestling moves.
I don't really like the demon honestly
I expected it to be hard in terms of the attacks being hard to deal with individually but honestly you can avoid like half of the attacks by standing below him to hit him in the nuts and the rest are boring stomps and none feel mechanically interesting to avoid the demon just has so much hp that getting greedy causes me to get hit once in a while
Magazine not clip. I hate being that guy but your content is good so I just want to help
we would have known this if only charlie and sneako started beefing a month earlier….alas!
I thought true monk was one of the best, top 5
Miriki counter💀💀
It’s MIKIRI counter!!!!😆😆
Demon of Hatred isn't the best boss, but it isn't bad in any way in fact I enjoy it a lot and is definitely better than gyubu, headless ape and friend, and for me folding screen monkeys
I also don't like owl at all I find that him using anti heal orbs just makes the fight last longer than it should and also is just not fun thats why I prefer father owl, but still my favorite
my top five bosses are 1 Inner Genichiro you said that the inner bosses aren't different enough I completely dissagree especially with inner Geni, 2 sword saint, 3 Isshin Ashina, 4 normal Genichiro, 5 owl father even though I heavily disagree with you on many points still good video and keep up the good content
Bruh corrupted monk 11?? That’s too 5 easy
Instant like for putting doh on the last place. Tedious, punishing and inconsistent boss which is indeed plays like he is from the souls games. Even with umbrella this fight is dogshit and a massive drop of quality compared to the rest of sekiro bosses.
Never rate again🔥
Guy had to cheese demon. Why even rank it then? If you haven't fought the boss/understood the rythym what are you even judging the boss on? That he was difficult so you cheese?
Terrible. Would've been better off not ranking at all with a disclaimer that you cheese'd the boss and left it at that.
This channel is two of us, and the gameplay is ours. For the record I (alex) am able to bitch this fight first try every time lol. Jack is still able to fight it he just finds it annoying. If you’ve played a fight what difference does it make
@@Cytonox oh. You guys failed to mention you cheese'd him after beating him. The difference being you can't really review a car till you've driven it. Can't really rate a boss till you've fought him (in the intended way at least)
@@fearlessnoob47 Yeah, I mean personally I think the Demon of Hatred is pretty cool but when we were averaging the rankings between us there was basically no way to do it without dumping him at the bottom so he got kinda screwed lol
@@Cytonox my guy you think the bull is better than the demon? Think about it.
But I digress, the video is your personal opinion. And I thoroughly enjoyed it. Nice work.
my guy cheeses boss fights and thinks he gets the right to an opinion 💀💀💀
annoying asf when someone fully maces out their character and then brags about easily killing bosses. 10 tries mid game gear isshin is more impressive than 2 tries end game gear. and no im not comparing myself
