      Glad it was helpful! I've found this way to be simple and work great. I've had pieces several years old that have not pulled up or started to peel off.

    Save even more and prime the panels themselves and paint directly onto the boards

      True! I've done this quite a bit in the past but prefer the oil-primed linen surface. Just depends on personal preference. Now I am using Michael Harding's Non-Absorbent Acrylic primer on Gatorboard panels and really enjoying that working surface.

      😂 Well that certainly helps... although I'm sure with enough elbow grease you could cut through an 1/8" hardboard panel with a utility knife :) -OR- make good friends with someone who has the saw
