No one's gonna comment this but I'm going to. The comments of this video are absolutely abysmal. People clearly did not watch TSP's series on exactly why he made this romhack. It is purely an enhancement hack to fix inherent issues with Gen 2 while keeping the same nostalgic experience when GSC initially released. Other romhacks aim for different experiences, and it's okay to like one over the other, but you NEED to understand WHY each one is made. Also, who CARES if it says "best" in the title. Just a little bias and ego and it doesn't really matter. Be glad that there is another Crystal romhack that is available to enjoy.
The title matters because people are tired of clickbaity youtuber sensationalism. The first video called it the PERFECT Crystal rom hack for example, that comes across as arrogant so when he does it again and calls it the BEST in the second video, it's annoying to say the least. Recognizing different hacks are aimed at different things is good yes, but that's kind of awkward to do when you're being screamed this is *THE* PERFECT HACK and *THE* BEST HACK in capital letters, that kind of goes against that point.
@@steel5897 Clickbait has always been a thing on RUclips and many creators do it to some degree. If it's truly arrogant and people are actually tired of it, why are people wanting to watch the video and watch people play the romhack? The truth is that many people really don't care about capitalization in a title of a RUclips video and that it doesn't really bother them. If that bothers you, then don't click on the video.
I understand the title and thumbnail are designed to be incredibly clickbaity and that's just the RUclips algorithm. I just don't like how calling it the best romhack really devalues every other romhack and makes it seem like you're putting down the creators of those romhacks. I will say Crystal Legacy is an incredible hack and it up there among my favourites because it puts so much time and effort into polishing up the gen 2 experience without going all out and making the game into an entirely different game. So many hacks go overboard and while they're still great it makes them feel too different from the originals, which CL avoids and I love that. The Devs of CL should be proud of what they created, genuinely. I'm really looking forward to future updates and versions. Just maybe find away to sell it that doesn't put it on a pedestal.

Just a Suggestion from Me: Maybe do what Radical Red / Crystal Clear Did and Add A Nuzlocke mode that Implements those Rules and Add it so that you can enter in-game codes for Benefits and Advantages, Like infinite Rare Candies so we dont have to put it in the emulator's Cheat Menu and risk losing our save or breaking the game.

I never thought I'd come across a Gen 1 or 2 ROM hack that could make them playable but here you are not only making Crystal playable but actually introducing a genuinely fun experience and giving much needed life to so many pokemon! I would LOVE to see Kanto!
You did such a good job with this hack man. I just beat johto last night and it was the first time i ever had been able to use a gengar or alakazam due to lack of link cables in my youth. I do suggest a title change though- Pokemon Crystal: Heracross' Revenge.
Of course we want to see Kanto, we want to see E4 rematch, and we want to see Red. This is such a cool rom hack, and this Nuzlocke really shows how a lot of the changes add to the experience of playing the game at all levels.
One thing I say is that you should have given the Grunt at the end of Slowpoke Well a name and make him another grunt to appear more than once. He's the early version of Proton after all, and also a fun story would be to have the other male executive at Goldenrod Radio Tower be the same guy, y'know in the spirit of Proton.
One thing that did irk me throughout the design process was his seemingly wilful refusal to use any of the expanded lore for HGSS. How difficult is it to just use the canonical names for the Executives? He only gave the names Archer and Ariana those names after people pointed this out to him. It is definitely weird the final grunt has no name when he later admits he is supposed to be the same guy that is later named Archer.
You're telling me the schoolboy immediately before Sudowoodo ALWAYS read my swaps but because he only ever had a Tangela it never mattered. Mans is a whole actual psychic....unlike the Psychic on the route.
Honestly you are your worst enemy in this nuzlocke ahahah I'm playing the rom right now and I've been lovin it, it hits that sweet spot of nostalgia perfectly, I've been looking for ages for this feeling since crystal is one of my favourite games despite some flaws. Thanks for putting it out

If i understand correct HM 01 Cut is now a bug element move correct? It makes me think Paras is especially overpowered as a grass type alternative with a easy combo of Spore Cut Sludgebomb and Giga Drain being the 4 four to come to mind.
I don't know where to put it, but since the patch 1.1 there are multiple attavks that straight up paralyzes the opponent like fury swipes. Guess thats a bug
@@SventFulguryeah! Stuff like that; disabling pokeballs after you've had an encounter in an area (maybe with togglable options for gift pokemon), disabling item use on fainted pokemon, autosaves after a faint, just stuff to streamline the otherwise self opposed rules and to dissuade redos (which I'd like for my own runs)
I love this. my childhood made fantastic. I have to tell you, stall-leftovers-mudslap/gigadrain/protect/leechseed Meganium is the best starter now. She can sweep even supereffective pokemon. The only pokemon that actually gave her trouble was Karen's Vileplume. The combination of speed, sludge bomb, and substitute to avoid mudslap was a bit overwhelming.
SOME IDEAS: A clear bell could be given after deafeating the Rockets and someone wise (Morty? Kurt? Mr. Pokémon? The Bellsprout Tower Master) could ask the player what kind of sound it makes when the bell is rung. Then, we could have the option to say that it sounds like the crystal sound of deep waters or the raging sound of fiery skies... and depending on the players answer, Lugia or Ho-Oh could be obtainable with that item before the first go against the Elite 4 (found at lv. 45-50). That could be nice. Or, perhaps, to make a little more sense, as the legendary bird trio is all catchable in the version, Lugia could only be obtainable after the player captures all the legendary birds and goes agains the Elite 4 for the second time (just like what happens with Ho-Oh only being obtainable after defeating the Elite 4 once and having all 3 legendary dogs). This makes one million times more sense than this beast only being obtainable after receiving a random item given by a ramdon elder at a random Kanto town, that late in the game. If it has to be obtained only this late in the game, then, let's give a purpose for it. And finally, I noticed that after defeating Red for the first time, any rematch with him would bring back Espeon. Why not have his party kind of "rotate" a little every time we play against him? It could kind of shadow Red journey or even Ash's journey, swapping (let's say... in this 3rd fight) his Snorlax for a Tauros and his Espeon for a Muk (resembling Ash's Kanto Elite fights), then giving it a try for his Lapras, his Primeape and even a level 75ish very overpowered Butterfree. Red could retain his OG 4 starters (Pikachu, Charizard, Blastoise and Venossaur) and rotate the other 2 spots with Pokémon that would make some sense in this narrative. 😀 PS: is it possible to reopen the Safari Zone, Cerulean Cave or the Seafoam Islands or you can't insert (even if small) brand new areas in the game? It would be cool to reaccess some Kanto places... perhaps allowing the player to go up Lavender's Radio tower to get rid of an infestation of dark/ghost pokémon? Or Celadon's Rocket Hideout being used by that Rocket grunt who stole the powerplant machine part after we defeat him in Cerulean... then going there to fight him and a few last grunts... and the place could be swarming with the kinds of Pokémon we obtain in the Game Corners. 😀
I can't wait to give this a Nuzlocke myself, this will be the first time I've played Gen 2 since SoulSilver, which was actually the first Pokemon game I ever played!
Just finished my Playthrough of this amazing hack. My Final Team, going through a number of itterations, was Feraligator, Magneton, Gengar Alakazam, Tyrannitar and Dragonite. Really enjoyed my time with this hack and I would love to see you tackle the Kanto Postgame.
At 14:15 you culd have just klicked Dragonrage again. Based on the amaount of halth the first one did there is no way Slobro would have survived and you would have survived the poison.
I liked the Romhack, but I finally understood why the level curve was there on the original game. On this Romhack I can beat the game with only Feraligatr (also need gyarados for the HMs only). Feragatr with Crunch, Surf, Ice Beam and the 4th is optional but funny enough I used Cut for the most part (I just love Cut's new buff), but Earthquake was the most useful (used Earthquake for Red). No needless grinding. Only defeating the trainers/pokemons on the way was more than enough to sky rocket Feraligatr's level. After defeating Red I was 99. If I defeated more trainers along the way I would easily get 100.
You can solo most of the games with a good starter, assuming you're not nuzlocking. I would not consider Gen 2's level curve to be intentional, otherwise why would they have repeated it in futures games.

Loved Crystal Legacy! I dont know what DVs my Scizor has but with Metal Claw, Wing Attack, Swords Dance and Twinneedle it is an ABSOLUTE monster Hands down the best Crystal experience i've had since being 11 yrs old (i'm now 32)
Seeing this rom hack makes me think of improving the Gen 3 Pokemon Emerald game. It had some terrible new pokemons and team Magma/Aqua did have an unconcise arcs. Not only that, i would think of adding isles of grass patches to water routes and include indications for gameplay-wise.
I downloaded this after the video demonstrating it and I'm enjoying it. The added difficulty on top of shaken up Pokemon stats and locations has me exploring like a kid again. Also Larvitar in dark cave is OP before Falkner haha.
I've completed Crystal Legacy twice already. The first time catching all 251 Pokémon (thanks for the document with all the useful info) and thanks for all the Leftovers in the Elite 4. A simple Thief was able to give my full party Leftovers. The first time I played my team was Machamp, Houndoom, Alakazam, Tyranitar, Raikou and Dragonite (with Extremespeed). The second time, though, I didn't focus on completing the Pokédex and my team was Ursaring, Gengar, Lapras, Ampharos, Entei and Aerodactyl. I just mourned the loss of Ice Punch for Gengar and thanked my lucky stars that Lapras could learn Surf, Waterfall and Whirlpool now. Thanks! Can you make Kanto Gym Leaders "rematchable" too? Also, the Rival's party could get like... 2-3 levels higher everytime we encounter him before going to challenge the Elite 4, so it means that he is actually training (as he says he will). SS Aqua could also accept trips all the time instead of the assigned days only.
Not only did you forget Unown was your first death, but you didn't even use the right letter for it when it faded in on the side. Such disrespect to C.

I used Donphan on my team for this romhack, and I just want to say he was crucial against the e4 for my team. Phanpy was one of my early route encounters. Prior to evolving, i didnt think it was going to make it, but it became a beast. The only thing i wish was a little bit changed was if Phanpy learned rollout earlier. Like prior to level 20. I kept waiting for it but he didnt get it until after evolving.

I mean he made a good creation and It' ok to boast about It and be Proust, Hope Pokémon challenges Will play it
I know right
He’s not wrong I downloaded this and was like oh I’ll play for 30 mins BLINKED AND IT WAS 4 AM
Actually Gyarados is, in this romhack, way better than he was in og Gen 2 cause he can use his physical attack for his Dark type Coverage
Let’s get that nuzlocke for red going I would also love to see you do this for x and y which is a game that needs massive help
Naming your shiny “BROOOOO” is so based
6:06 overconfidence is a slow abd incedious killer. F.
Also congratulations on finishing and releasing ROM hack! I don't know anything except that it's a lot of work that often goes unnoticed, so... Good job 🎉
That crystal legacy cartridge looks sick
GBA cartridge on a GBC game tho lul
Good idea. That no-name final grunt always felt kinda odd, not gonna lie.
Thanks for putting it out
Of COURSE I wanna see the Kanto nuzlocke! I wanna see how these kanto gyms feel in practice.
Good to see you out of the blue - loved watching your vids
@@hennyzhi2261 Yeah. I'm still around. Just haven't been uploading cause I'm busy with other stuff.
@@markyjoe1990 Completely understandable and I hope you've been enjoying this romhack! o/

Proceeds to sack 10 Pokemon for Gengar.
Good job! Small question though. How did you justify Aerodactyl since you caught an Unown in the Ruins of Alph?
Probably cuz the puzzles are their own thing i would guess. So he chose which Fossil he wanted, much like how you choose Helix, Dome or Amber in a Nuzlock of RBY.
The same way you can justify fishing in any city with a cave/tower with encounters in it and getting those.
I classified in the chamber as it’s own spot and outside (where you can get natu) as a separate one!
Definitely do the Kanto portion as well!
Loving everything about this rom hack. Thanks for all the time and effort! Can’t wait to get around to playing it my self
15 seconds into the video i did not expect you to have the face of Ryan Gosling Ken
siempre habia querido jugar esta version "Cristal", esta es la mejor manera de hacerlo. Thanks Man!!
Dang, y'all really got so pressed he had to change the title. That's a shame, I thought it was fun.
What was the previous title?
@@otaviojohannjardim1702"I nuzlocked the Best Crystal Rom Hack," I thought it was funny and it made me chuckle, but it seems most people took it way too personally.
At 14:16 gyarados would have outspeed and kill with another dragon rage and it wouldnt have went down to poison. For sure. So yo udidnt need to let your starter go down.
Yeah I agree. This seems like a bad play on my end actually
@@smithplayspokemon yeah. When you were talking about the play you were about to make I was yelling noooo! Lol but it's cool. Very good game.
Well done! I cant wait to play the updated rom when i have time.
I'm doing a soullock of this game with a friend. We just beat Morty and so far everything looks fine
I'd love to see some native Nuzlocke integration into Crystal Legacy!
Like how Pokemon Reborn has the option at the start and Centers don't heal dead mons?
12:30 casually throwing out the house Martell motto. 🐐
I think your game is magical. I found a shiny zubat in dark cave, now a beautiful pink crobat!
Its so weird to see my childhood zombie guy be a pokemon nuzlocke legend lol, im glad you here TSP
*see's the title of the video*
*A WILD POKÉMON CHALLENGES APPEARS*
Thank you so much for making this romhack Pat! I plan on getting many hours of nostalgic entertainment
SOME IDEAS:
A clear bell could be given after deafeating the Rockets and someone wise (Morty? Kurt? Mr.
PS: is it possible to reopen the Safari Zone, Cerulean Cave or the Seafoam Islands or you can't insert (even if small) brand new areas in the game?
It would be cool to reaccess some Kanto places... perhaps allowing the player to go up Lavender's Radio tower to get rid of an infestation of dark/ghost pokémon? Or Celadon's Rocket Hideout being used by that Rocket grunt who stole the powerplant machine part after we defeat him in Cerulean... then going there to fight him and a few last grunts... and the place could be swarming with the kinds of Pokémon we obtain in the Game Corners. 😀
Pokemon Crystal: typo version
I can't wait to give this a Nuzlocke myself, this will be the first time I've played Gen 2 since SoulSilver, which was actually the first Pokemon game I ever played!
Man, stuff like slowbro is reasons to keep that dragon rage on Gyrados man
you have to do a kanto nuzlocke and finish this run. It's not over until you beat red
You realize that you made this game, I’m proud of you!
"I don't think we should trade lives, ever"
>Haunter's kill count
Just finished my Playthrough of this amazing hack. My Final Team, going through a number of itterations, was Feraligator, Magneton, Gengar Alakazam, Tyrannitar and Dragonite. Really enjoyed my time with this hack and I would love to see you tackle the Kanto Postgame.
At 14:15 you culd have just klicked Dragonrage again. Based on the amaount of halth the first one did there is no way Slobro would have survived and you would have survived the poison.
This is how I prefer ROM hacks. Same core game experience, just better.
I'm wanting to do this for ORAS. But I know that will take forever. XD
Keen to see more videos! I have loved this series.
I think this game improves (steepens) the mid-late game curve
You can solo most of the games with a good starter, assuming you're not nuzlocking. I would not consider Gen 2's level curve to be intentional, otherwise why would they have repeated it in futures games.
You can beat nearly every pokemon game with a single pokemon. Try implementing a level cap of the upcoming gym leader for a better challenge!
Love your videos. Can you please make a video of best Pokémon team for gen 2 and moves for each Pokémon in the team
GOTTA see that Kanto Nuzlocke. Excellent run on an excellent rom hack, really looking forward to playing this for myself
The game is SO fun. Thanks for doing this!
smithplays: puts unown in the top 10 best early game pokemon video*
: it's actually pretty useful for stuff like nuzlockes.
two days later the guy posts a nuzlocke video with an unown
Bro seeing miltank getting a taste of its own medicine is the most satisfying thing I’ve ever seen in Pokemon
😎
I really enjoy my nuzlocke of your hack. I have like 15 dead Pokémon before the last gym fight, but it's really engaging.
I’m going to start this game soon. A lot of effort and love put into this game
"losing wooper isnt devasting"
Electric types: "Its free real estate"
Not sure if it is too late vut would love to see the kanto nuzlocke in this condensed style. Idk why but I always enjoy watching these condensed videos first then going back and watching the full thing. Either way though mate I have been loving these videos going over the ROM and am gonna be jumping into it asap once the new place is unpacked and laptop finally found.
I went Chikarita cuz i knew i could get a Houndour, and the Chika sure can eat hits.
Also, Boltbeam Jolteon?! You lucky punk!
Loved Crystal Legacy! I dont know what DVs my Scizor has but with Metal Claw, Wing Attack, Swords Dance and Twinneedle it is an ABSOLUTE monster
Hands down the best Crystal experience i've had since being 11 yrs old (i'm now 32)
This is one of the best natural improvement made in hackrom
Fun to see! Well done, good rom hack!
Looking forward to Part 2 Kanto Boogaloo
Seeing this rom hack makes me think of improving the Gen 3 Pokemon Emerald game. It had some terrible new pokemons and team Magma/Aqua did have an unconcise arcs. Not only that, i would think of adding isles of grass patches to water routes and include indications for gameplay-wise.
Just enjoying the little bit of Ace Attorney music in the background
I downloaded this after the video demonstrating it and I'm enjoying it. The added difficulty on top of shaken up Pokemon stats and locations has me exploring like a kid again. Also Larvitar in dark cave is OP before Falkner haha.
Lol I named my Aerodactyl in my last crystal legacy run Sky-Daddy
Gotta see how Kanto goes next. That’s the part of the revamp that’s most exciting for nuzlocking purposes to me personally.
Would love to see a Kanto nuzlocke continuation of this vid!! Subbed!
I'm halfway through, the level curve and the difficulty is just great.
"our first loss will never be forgotten", Unown, already forgotten
I‘d love if the trainers and gym leaders had EV and badge boosts, even 10 levels behind the rematch against the elite 4 is a breeze.
Not only did you forget Unown was your first death, but you didn't even use the right letter for it when it faded in on the side. Such disrespect to C.
Loving the Game so far, i've Got all 16 badges, but keeping the Red Fight until i get Most of the dex, after that i'll try a nuzlocke myself.
I'd Love to See the kanto Part ❤
I used Donphan on my team for this romhack, and I just want to say he was crucial against the e4 for my team.
Phanpy was one of my early route encounters. Prior to evolving, i didnt think it was going to make it, but it became a beast.
The only thing i wish was a little bit changed was if Phanpy learned rollout earlier. Like prior to level 20. I kept waiting for it but he didnt get it until after evolving.
