@Nikolaus I live locally too and he's not as big of a star here as people think...Dawsonville is only about the outlet mall to outsiders...not knocking his win..but he really needed the cops to close off the roundabout?? why not just have an authentic drive through Dawson County...He really tried to hype up something that just isn't here..maybe with a few old locals. but that's about it..
This gave me chills. My dad introduced me to NASCAR as a youngster. We rooted for Million Dollar Bill all the way to his retirement. From there we started rooting for the newest 9, Kasey Kahne. My dad tells me one day "Hey son! Bill Elliott's son Chase is coming up to the big stage and will be driving the number 9!" To see father and son win titles is amazing. Couldn't have happened to a nicer family. Respect from a proud GA. BOY!!!!

I did the same thing. I was first a fan of Davey Allison RIP, then Loved Awesome Bill, then when Kahne took over that ride I started pulling for him. Now I’m back to being another Elliott fan. This is awesome to see.

Lots of people watching don’t know how legendary this video is. A legend’s son making history and returning to the birthplace of the very sport itself to something us Dawson boys wish we could have done for years. Burnouts in front of the pool room haha. So proud, wish chase nothing but success, happiness and health.
Proud to be his neighbor! Knew him before he got famous & recognize those roads. Where else could you have a car museum, city offices & a Moonshine Still in the same building? Y'all come visit Dawsonville, you'll like it!

Been there several times. Bill had a fan club appreciation day every year after the fall Atlanta race at their race shop. Maybe someday Chase can do something similar. Got my sons picture with Chase at the grand opening of the race museum. They were 8 years old.

I’m a Chase fan and have been watching NASCAR since 2020. When watching the cup championship race that year, seeing Chase win the championship made it special to me because having your favorite driver win the championship in your first year of being a fan makes it a cool thing to remember for years to come! Now being 2023 as I post this he is still winning races and has been in contention for other championships too. Keep it up Chase!!
Sadly 2023 has been a bit of a downer for him. But next year he will return to his former performance and win again! Can’t wait for his second Atlanta win!

Was born in 99 was a rainbow warrior till he retired... Chase took over that was my guy. Chase then went to the 9 I had to choose I slept on it, and chose to stick with him in the 9 letting go of the 24.
Never saw Jeff in his championship except the last one tho I was too young... This is so special I'm from a small town as well.

I was a big fan of Bill and Ernie (even bought a red 84 T bird back in the day, been watching this kid of 5 or 6 yrs now he impresses as a person first, then comes the driving talent, wish you all the happiness your heart can stand Chase
First started following NASCAR in 1985 when I was 11 and rooted for "Awesome Bill". So cool to see his kid succeed and seem to be such a genuine, level-headed, and humble Champion.....much like his dad.

I'm so glad Chase Elliott won the Championship. My father was a big time Bill Elliott fan & he was so happy when I told him Bill Elliotts son was racing NASCAR. In such a short time Chase Elliott has become a NASCAR Champion....thats Awesome . This young man is so humble , for him to drive through his home town, in his race car really shows that he is proud of his small town roots & he damn well should be. Stay Humble young man , your future looks very promising. 🍻 Cheers to ya champ !!!

For us Dawsonville boys, this sure makes us proud. I love my home. History made by the legends that come from the birthplace! Way to go Chase, is Dawson boys could not be happier.

2020 first gave us covid19, quarantine, JJ's retirement from NASCAR, but there is now a light at the end thanks to Chase Elliott and HMS team 9! Then he goes home to celebrate! It reminds me of my hometown, welcoming back State champs in baseball or softball. Hometown heroes, all of them. This is just a different scale. It makes me proud to be a small town guy. Congratulations, Chase.
I have been watching NASCAR since the mid 80s. I saw the replay of Bill winning his first race at Riverside and was a fan. I just loved how he raced, his demeanor and his personality.
When he left, his understudy Kasey Kahne filled the gap for me.... but then Chase showed up. In my opinion, Chase bridges the gap between the younger fans of NASCAR and the long time fans that have been disenchanted with what NASCAR has become. A perfect mix of old-school and new.
As far as the video is concerned, it fills me with pride. Dawsonville reminds me of my small town home in Auburndale FL. I feel like it is my home town too. Is that...right?
Also, seeing Chase do this for his home town is awe inspiring. Has any other Champion done anything like this in the past? I think not. A PERFECT homage to his birthplace.

Im Dale sr fan to this day. I gritted my teeth many a sunday when ole Bill would wear our asses out in that thunderchicken coors mellin #9. But wathching this brought a big tear filled smile to my face. I love this kid. Congrats chase! U da man! I haven't missed a Nascar race in 26 years, fell in Love in 1994, passed-up weddings, parties, family reunions, nothing was more important. History making events as great as this father and son Championship will keep Nascar alive forever. Chase's win was in the league of Harvick's win at Atlanta in the first White number 29 after the death of Dale, and Dale Jr's win after the first Daytona win. Seems nothing will stop this American Sport and will live in the hearts of generations for eternity. Almighty God meant for it to be, with 50 laps caution free on a short track.??????

@Elitesoulfly1 Soul Bill did'nt fall to far, around 2011 I sat by him in the stands at Montgomery Speedway while Chase was driving there, so he was around the short tracks some.
@Elitesoulfly1 Soul Felt the same way these Georgia boys do when Alan Kulwicki won the championship. Awesome Bill won the last race but Alan led the most laps by one over Bill. Congratulations Chase and the Georgia boys.

Making the Hendrick Motorsports team #1 once again... Chase drove his BUTT off during a crazy 2020 and he deserved this 100%. He joins a HUGE legacy of Champions at such a YOUNG AGE.. like Jeff Gordon did back in the 90's. Its great to see the young driver winning the championship against all of the veteran competitors. He is a respectful guy and a great image for Nascar and fans of His. Since Gordon and Jr. left he is the guy I cheered for ever since he took over Gordons spot once he retired in 2015... its been amazing to watch him grow into the Racer he is today. Way to go CHAMP 🏆

Glad to see the real grass roots if racing stayed to the truth.
