I would target maximum torque for good usability: HIF44, 35.7mm inlet valves but not ported, valve job, custom ignition advance, lightened and balanced flywheel, 1.5 rockers with stock cam or ACDodd RS cam + 1.3 rockers. To be adapted depending on the head and cam you have at the moment. You can contact AC Dodd for advice and quote.
@@SmugwoodMini This is exactly the route I am taking with my Metro 1275 Engine (which we have talked about) I have bored it to 1310 (1293 was not enough) I sent the Cam from my Metro to AC Dodd for a re-profiled one (cheaper than a new one), I went for the AC RS which is a good performance 'fast road' Cam. I am also going to get a set of Ac Dodd 1.3 Rockers. I bought an ST1 Clutch and Flywheel kit from MED and sent them my Crank and Damper Pulley, They balanced the whole lot together and all up price was about £330. Not sure on a head yet - ran out of money :-)
@@Sternhammer89 If I’m honest, that is pretty much the setup I’ve been looking at. I damaged my flywheel so I need a new one and quite a few recommending the ACDodd cam. At some point I’ll have to commit 😂
@@leeabakermusic If I got off of my butt, I could get mine finished and let you know how it performs :-) A lightened flywheel does help with acceleration but too light and you get starting and (I think) idling issues. The ST1 was recommended for a performance road engine.

Thanks. I’ve certainly a lot of research to do but I’ve heard good things about the Acdodd cams 👍

@@Sternhammer89 Yeah I think I read something similar in the Vizard book. Be interesting to see who finishes first...cause I’m so slow and lazy 😂
Woohoo!
Certainly is a Woo Hoo moment 😂 It’s the first time I’ve been able to safely lift it out the way 😂
Have a look at Bill Sollis’s video here on RUclips. It’s called “ultimate mini builder 1380 A+ engine build”
Thanks. I think I may have watched it. Very informative. Nice to see even the pros struggling to get the flywheel off...not just me then 😂😂
