Terry. I’ve now got the squirrels on three of my permissions hooked on the oil…… It took them a while to show an interest but after two weeks I went to each feeder and found them nearly empty. And my feeders are BIG!!!! The last feeder I visited was a war zone with six squirrels fighting over it. What a top tip. Many thanks. Steve.

Hi Steve. 👋 sorry for the delay mate. Yeah lm glad the aniseed oil worked for you mate 👍 the squirrels absolutely love the stuff but they do seemed to destroy the feeders one there empty.

Nice one, Lad. Thoroughly enjoyed your attitude to things. Liked the use of old wood for feeders. I see a lot on various sites making and using fabricated metal feeders. How do bushy tails scramble over slippery steel surfaces. Wife thinks I'm a right skip scratter. Any pallets, scrap timber and plasterbead comes with me, and now on, metal back boxes. 200 metres from me, at the top of our culdesac, there is a wood about 45m wide and 1km long that runs between the estate at the back of me, and fields. Walking through the wood, nearly every house backing onto it, has bird and squirrel feeders. It's wick with tree rats. Got talking to a house holder, couldn't understand why birds aren't using their net boxes! Can't find out who owns the wood. Big Steve, East Yorks.

It sounds like a great woodland to take out some tree rats mate. You need to find the owner of the wood's and put up some feeders...

Thanks for all the top tips. Oil on order. I attach about a foot of ribbon to the bottom of my feeders to act as a ‘windicator’. Just helps with direction and wind strength. Thanks for the video. Steve

Great video! I'm full time on the squirrels at the moment and agree with using aniseed, handy for the hoppers but also once the associate the smell with food it makes trapping them using aniseed soaked bait a lot easier 👍🏻

Thanks for the video, a tip I gained from Simon 6ppc is to use metal plaster board edging to stop the corners being chewed. Thermals great for spotting pests on the golf course including the two legged variety at night.

I like the design and the electric box is a great idea. Why don't you wrap the box in ¼" hardware cloth? Is that bottom plate meant to be a perch? I think I'd prefer them perching on the lid where im less likely to shoot the box.
