Vignesh Sabari While both disciplines are interested in human behavior, the difference is HOW human behavior is chosen to be studied. For example, sociology analyzes societies while anthropology looks at culture. Societies have culture. Therefore, image anthropology on a more global scale in terms of comparing cultural differences while sociology is more micro-level comparing within individual countries, states, communities, populations, etc. Sociology = questions society patterns within Anthro = questions cultural patterns on a global scale I hope this helped.
@@EstefaniaHZ Thanks very much for that lucid explanation. The context of my question is to understand why she switched to anthropology, which is one of the optional subjects for the Indian civil services examination.
I read the story of Lakshmi madam in her blog. It was really inspiring and the hard work showed by madam is crucial for securing the ranks almost similar in UPSC and in FOREST services in the same year. I don't know how madam continued her preparation 9 hours per a day without taking a break. That is really hard even I am trying in the steps of madam and her guidance. Thank you so much madam for your support and your inspiring story.
I have just started to read anthropology & it seems very difficult to understand its language. It is not just a story telling subject. Need too much concentration for understanding the meaning of any topic of anthropology. Last 3 days continuously I was reading the introduction part of anthropology from Braintree . Feeling drunk.

So many ppl waste thr attempt watching these anthro videos. its nt an easy subject at all.. and nw upsc is giving imp to its core subjects... There was a wave of anthro but now if u take it without ny bkground...u r doomed...
I absolutely agree with your point of view. I'm 28 and just starting out. I can't afford to lose an attempt because of wrong optional selection. Is there any way I can get in touch with you. I wanna discuss about this optional.

Mam,its my humble request, plz give ur detailed strategy of anthropology!
I would like to know why has she moved from sociology to anthropology. I am confused between sociology and anthropology for optional.

For example, sociology analyzes societies while anthropology looks at culture. Societies have culture. Therefore, image anthropology on a more global scale in terms of comparing cultural differences while sociology is more micro-level comparing within individual countries, states, communities, populations, etc.
Sociology = questions society patterns within
Anthro = questions cultural patterns on a global scale
I hope this helped.
