I used to listen to this when I was a kid I always wanted to dance and fight like this and I still do today and fight like that, a truly masterpiece

Not true. In this movie, "Louis Stevens" (Mark Dacascos) learned capoeira when he was in Brasil, training with "capoeiristas brasileiros". When he's going back to the USA, he shows a lot of respect for them and receive a "berimbau" as a gift. Again, at the end of the movie we can see "brazilian capoeristas" rockin' a lot!
Mark Dacascos is a famous actor, therefore he got the major role in this movie and that's all. It's not about bias but if you dislike the movie, I respect your opinion.

This song was inspirational. I even used it when I was playing Tekken 3 in the arcade with Eddy Gordo. A group of Brazilian dudes were getting mad heated I was beating them with their own dude, Then one of them picked the boss and started spamming that stupid flamethrower. We were both 1 hit away to death on the 3rd round. I started chanting that paranue and he got mad nervous lmao I won. Shit works.

I think one of the underated martial arts movie's of all time. The music was dope so was the fighting. I remember i was about 11 when this joint came out. I actually learned how to cartwheel because of this movie lol, not the backflips and front flips sadly

I was just a small kid when I watched this movie long time ago and I really thought they were singing "Banana way Banana way Banana"
I kept singing this until now that I'm already 19 yo. I just decided to search it now because I thought that there must be something wrong with how I heard the lyrics of this song, I was like... This movie is a favorite of mine! Fun fact: The actor who played Shay wrote a kick-ass book called On My Way to Hollywood and shared some behind-the-scenes drama that took place while filming. It was a well-written page-turner that kept me GLUED to the pages! GET THAT BOOK!

Brazil is such a cool place to be. Saw this movie in my childhood and this video brought so many good memories. I always thought Eddy Gordo's fighting style was fictional until I saw this movie. I always wanted to practice Capoeira. A fight where the guys are enjoying it and they're such sports. Cool music too.
you should search for The Assailant. It's a movie about capoeira, but the real one, not the Mark Dacasco moves

Is it just me or did anyone else think that the director must have been coked up?
Consider the era and the Miami location and draw your own conclusion.
IMHO, the only good capoeira scenes were performed by Brazilians.
Perhaps when the movie was made, Capoeira had not reached the level of popularity in the US it currently enjoys.
I have attended Batizados in South Florida with both Americans and Brazilians playing and some of the American really held their own!

We never see Mark Dacascos use his Capoeira skills again in any other of his movies. I always wonder if he still knows the basic's of using them. I loved him in Only the strong and would love to see him use it again in another movie. Capoeira rulez !

But it also may be who and where he learned capoeira from because even in the roda noone uses esquivas and they do half negativa through out the movie.
