@@mrjoe332yeah Lego actually commissioned Cryoshell to write a bunch of songs for Bionicle, and it was their first few songs as an official band so they really got their start because of Bionicle
I think move alone is better the reason this song is better is the remix, and the way it give us heartache if you know matoro from the start of everything
Personally, Gravity Hurts has always been my favourite, but theres no denying this version really captures that serene yet deeply ominous vibe. Very nice.
Man.... That shot of the tentacles reaching towards the Mask of Life never failed to give me the creeps (from the deep) as a kid. 2007 played havoc on my fear of the deep ocean (and squids...)
Sea of Darkness was peak Bionicle. It felt like the culmination of all the stakes that had been raised thus far. The setting strikes wonder and builds tension even now. With victory nearly in the Inika's grasp, it slips away into an even harsher, darker version of hell. This world's version of the Mariana Trench, but it's used as a prison for the worst entities this world, which already has a lot of terrifying characters. Worse yet, once you go down, you can NEVER leave due to the Pit mutating you into a water breathing form that can withstand high pressure. That was the one small blessing the Inika got, a pre-transformation from the Mask that would allow them to keep some of their sanity as they descended into a place of no light and no hope, with a time limit to find basically the holy grail that can restart god's heart, but EVERY prisoner of the pit also desperately wants the mask as it might be the only thing that could change them back to being able to breathe air. With the loss of their electricity powers, and most elemental powers severely dampened by the water, our Toa had to not only secure the mask from criminals warped into deep sea monstrosities, the mask's latest transformed guardian, but also practically Satan himself, Teridax, now inhabiting a robotic drone body. If they can secure it, they still have to make it to the heart within the time limit, or all is for naught. Thats tension. Just redescribing it brings back a sense of wonder. You could leave out the bionicle specific terms and write a fantastic movie, short series, book, or tabletop campaign with these pieces, but what really made it special was that we knew these Toa all the way back from being Matoran, and this was the culmination of their journey.
It's funny you write about the mere story being a great thing to use for a movie, book etc. Because I wrote a short story, based around the Barraki and the pit. I named it "The World Down Under"
Digging how it's also in D Minor, I can already imagine a 2007-quality clip from an Essenger BIONICLE live set with this starting the show and people cheering on and the visuals fade in.🙌🙌🙌🙌
So much time has past but its beautiful to be apart of something so unique and deep at such a young age. We realize when we got older that what we had was truly special. Unity, Duty, & Destiny.
Okay forgive me but I completely forgot that you're not just a funny AI text-to-speech youtuber, but also an actual proper musician lmao, this is great stuff Anyway, if you feel like it I'd like to nominate "Closer to the Truth" for a cover
When I was younger I would watch dinosaur tributes with this song. Later I discovered it again and it was been my favorite song ever since. The wave of nostalgia is overwhelming. Legit in tears rn.
Man, I did know I needed melancholic nostalgia bionicle fuel so bad. I've genuinely never felt more mystique and immersion into any media as much as I did when I played MNOG as a kid for the fist time. Since then bionicle has remained as the one universe for me with the most unshakably breathtaking and enchanting vibe to it and remixes like this prove I wasn't the only one who felt that. I'd say keep em coming if you have more good ideas like this.
This song has always had a special place in my heart ever since I first visited the website (with my parents permission) and saw the commercial. It's been years since then and I've listened to a lot of remix's and covers of this song, but this one is just so haunting and beautiful. This truly makes me feel like I'm sinking to the bottom of the ocean and feeling the utter loneliness & isolation the depths can bring. Well done, I hope to see more things like this.
Okay, so I got two people who can make nostalgic and beautiful music I can go to and feel sad or happy. There's you and Liam Vicker. But really man, keep up the good work. This is some wonderful ambient music you've made, even now after Bionicle has ended people like yous still show the world that it isn't dead and more thriving through its fans.
I feel that if lego actually made a movie based of the 2007 storyline, they probably used this track when Mantax questions the Barraki and gathers them to figure out which one had the tablet of transit from the brotherhood of Makuta, and this track perfectly symbolises how the one barraki that caused them to fail in thier grand goal comes back to haunt them......
For years i've wished that Cryoshell would release official instrumentals for their songs. Only ones i can find on the internet, are Gravity Hurts and Bye Bye Babylon.
This. This perfectly captures the vibe of whimsically scrolling through the old Bionicle website as a kid, looking at all of the old, cool sets and wishing you could get them someday, only to recognize that they had been long since discontinued... Those relics of the past, the flash games, music videos, adverts... I never got into Bionicle outside of one set each from the Glatorian and Stars arcs of the series, but damn it, for being so touched by all of the other bionicle media... I'm glad to say that I was a Bionicle kid. ...hell, when I heard Bionicle G2 was being released through an old LEGO magazine... my god, was zi hyped... my first REAL Bionicle sets after so long, and... Well, as is tradition... I only got one set from the line before it fell to the ground. Oof.
It sounds like an intro part for a Drum and Bass song Make a mix for some of MNOG music Because it's actually sounds nice, nothing insane, but just a good and melancholic sound, like an ost for some indie-horror game
When I first saw the 07 winter commercial, I knew this thing was close to ending. I don't know how I knew I just did. I couldn't know they would make it last 3 more years, but honestly it's kinda true. 07 was the last year Bionicle was truly Bionicle, because it just didn't feel quite the same after Matoro sacrificed himself. Everything after that felt entirely like an epilogue.
Magnificence!! Also probably one of the only Dark Ambient songs I could spam, because the original version lives rent free in my head, this one just adds sadness, sorrow, Cthulhu and everlasting love of bionicle.
If I could I would love to own all the 2007 sets and have a custom display of all the hero’s and villains in an epic underwater themed battle with Matoro in the center wearing the mask of life. Have it be a clear glass dome shaped display with blue LED lighting and this theme playing when you hit a button. Maybe even have some spinning elements to have all the characters surrounding the center rotating around. But something like that would cost a fortune. Don’t get me started on the sets and especially the mask of life in gold. Oh and lime joints.
Did 2007 ever feel like what should have been the big finale? To me, 2008-2010 felt like an extended ending that kept dragging out the inevitable. 2007 felt like the final battle that culminated it, especially with the mask being the key to awakening Mata Nui. Combine 2008/2009/2010 as a 3 act story, and it would have worked just fine.
I never perceived 2008 as part of the Glatorian story arc. 2008 is the defeat of Makuta's armies and the awakening of Mata Nui. I get that Glatorian is not that popular (personally I rank 2009 equally with 2003 and higher than 2005), but 2008 was the defacto big finale of the Matoran Universe arc.
It's so weird that I subscribed to the channel because of the bionicle lunch buffet then you get something very awesome like this on the same channel. Love the content you're putting out
I always get goosebumps when I hear good music, and this one is no exception! The quiet aquatic ambience really sets the beautiful, yet ominous, atmosphere of the Depths. Now you've got me curious on how you could remixing What It Takes To Be A Hero by All Insane Kids (a personal favorite of mine).
Incredible work essenger, you've put me back in touch with my obsession with bionicle. I had nearly every set 2001-2008 with a few exceptions (the bahrag, karzhani and 3 of the toa hordika). Then, I came home from university one day to discover my parents had thrown all my lego away, with the reasoning 'it was all in bits'. I was devastated almost beyond belief, but the memory of bionicle lives on in my heart. PS. Please do a remaster of the flight of the valkyries/nui rama hive music, replayed MNOG recently and that was fire🔥🔥🔥
This is a really cool remix. Makes me really wish they were still making feature-length movies when the Toa Mahri and Barraki were around. But I have a further suggestion for you: A major key, "Under the Sea"-style steel drum rendition. Called "Creeping in my Shoal". I'm not sure if Carapar is capable of Caribbean-esque vocals though.
I need this for all of the Bionicle music so I can make a playlist This is a bop btw, really good job. I wish it were longer, for now I'll just have to settle on playing it on loop 😅
Today i learned you are not just a bonkle shitlord. Youre a dang musician and on spotify too! I desperately wanna see more of these and on your spotify!!!
I was half-expecting to hear Tony's voice suddenly interject with something heinous like "Bionicle presents: The fungus is spreading. The fungus is spreading everywhere and now it's covering every surface in my kitchen and it's all over the floor and in the ceiling and in my walls and under my bed sheets and under my fingernails and in between my teeth and under my eyelids and in the pores of my skin and in my every orifice and inside my lungs and I can feel it moving through my bloodstream. Now available in 6 flavours."
In his final moments, Matoro feels no fear...
Ah hell man why’d you have to do me like that 😭
why you gotta make me CRY LIKE THAT-
Matoro with the 20 gifted subs
Man why you gotta do me like that
what makes it so sad for me is since he came as the matoran set he was my favourite.
Beautiful. Each vibe sold separately.
This is legit beautiful. I spent so many hours watching the creeps from the deep trailer as a kid, and this just hits right
It's like the ending credits theme to that era of your childhood. Really hits different when you start to think about it all. So bittersweet
From all BIONICLE songs, Creeping in my Soul has the biggest amount of covers what proves that it's best song of all made for that series ^^

If Gravity Hurts is hope and courage at the start of a battle
Creeping in My Soul is desperation and despair at the end of it.
