I’d like to add that I am not a professional hair stylist. This is the method that worked for me in combing out my locs but may not be the best method in terms of maintaining your hair’s health in the process.
I comb out 3 so far and on my very first one I figured out that the two strand twist pattern was easy as long as I used the metal end of the comb and went up or down the middle of the locs and pulled down...but yes this is working for me too!
Just combed out my son’s 10!yr locs🏆🏆🏆🏆. I didn’t think I could do it. It took 3 weekends mainly Saturdays so I would say it took a full 3 days. Take breaks, hydrate and stretch your body and thumbs.
I’m getting ready to start mine after 6 years. But I’m a working woman so it’s going to be hard to get them combed out quick enough. Luckily, I only have half a head since I shaved the back ones off.
I love love love my Locs, even though I’m coming them out. I want to better care for my hair and I wasn’t giving them the attention I needed as I was going through a hard time in my life. I feel that they are ready to come out and take a break. I’m grateful that you shared this video!
Yess, I feel you 100%!! I lovvvedd my locs so much but it was just time to release them. I am glad you received my video well, thank you so much for watching!
You have such a lovely demeanor and I really liked listening to your point of view. I am thinking of combing out my locs and starting over. Mine are thicker than I would prefer. I like having locs but I think I’d be happier if they were smaller - a few more than the 87 locs I have now. I got locs because I moved from the US to the UK and the weather here is generally damp and rainy and my loose natural hair wasn’t liking that. My twist outs would just become frizz outs or fluff outs. LOL! Anyway, thanks for sharing your experiences.
Thank you so much for your kind words! I absolutely get what you are saying, I may start locs again in the future as well with the knowledge I have now.
I have had my locs for 7 years and I am thinking about combing them out. I suffer from severe scalp psoriasis for 4 years. Now that my hair is longer it’s getting too complicated for me to make time to wash my hair as often as I want to . I am so sad about this decision but I have to do it 😢. Thank you for the tips !
Same I literally just chopped mine off yesterday. I’m gonna comb out the rest let it grow out a little more and then restart my loc journey. I miss them already lol
I used shampoo instead of conditioner. I found conditioner hard to detangle than conditioner. I had mine for two years, I had just a little bun. It took 8 hours Had to break after 4 hours and yes, my hands were painful and standing up was just too exhausting. It was easy for me to comb out while standing before the mirror unlike when I don’t see what I am doing. I used the big safety pin 🧷 instead of the comb and it worked just fine. Of course 😅I would get poked now and then 😂
Thank you for watching! You are not alone, I’m contemplating getting them again later in the future as well but w more knowledge than I had the first go around.
Omg I was searching everywhere online for loc removal services lol but don't waste your money, you can def do it yourself if you want to of course and have the time.
I'm on the same page but thinking about cutting them out my hair grow really fast I'm just trying to grow a decent amount of New growth to get a nice length ..... so I could have a curly afro.
I had instant/crochet locs and I used the same rat tail method and it worked. Didn't make sense because I didn't start my locs with two strand twists. But I'm not questioning it😅
It still works the same . I had one instant loc , it’s harder to detangle the ends in comparisons to the locs that started with twist but it still combs out .
I'm combing mine out now. I'm thinking about recording it as well I was bra strap now it's waist length I'm like whoa! I split my hair in 4 sections. I started with the front right side. Totally understand working and taking them down wew!! Then work 3rd with a 5 month old lol. Yeah this will def take me about 2 weeks to Take the rest down.
Wow, you got this!!! Combing out locs was not a fun process at alll so I totally get it and can imagine w a kid drags the process even more. I will definitely tune in if you decide to record and share your experience, thank you for watching!
Combing my locs out next week hopefully. When I say that people look at me crazy but I’m getting them in fall again. I just need a break 😅. Granted the lady who did my hair ( I love her) didn’t really do my parts the way I wanted and I had to cut some on my edge line
I combed out my locs before I even made the decision to share my journey publicly. It was also a very long, trial and error process so recording in real time wasn’t a priority. Thank you for watching and commenting!
My locs r different lengths and thicknesses. I have been interlocking. I dont want to cut, but after 5 years im ready to move on. Would u recommend i comb out even tho they r different sizes.
I am not a professional but if you want to go through days and possibly even weeks of combing them out just to see the result then go for it and you can always cut it. It totally up to you! Thank you for watching and commenting
If you’ve been thinking about it for a long time, I say go for it but if it’s just a fleeting thought that comes n goes then maybe give it a lil more time.
@@anitaasworlddI agree.. for me it depends on your loc journeys intention. My first set was very personal and spiritual. Cut them off. I did regret it but my reasoning for doing it out weighed the regret. Hair grows. I'm now on my 4th set. I combed out a set and to me it was not worth all the effort. My hair was very damaged. But, every person to their own convictions 😎

Yes to the trial and era! I have no footage of combing my locs out, but I did it.
Not dramatic at all. Combing out locs is not for the weak.
It's nooo joke!
@@anitaasworldd I related to this video 100%.

The exact reason I’m combing mine out. It’s a nightmare trying to clean my scalp.
Combed mine out a couple of months ago and I immediately regretted it. I am starting a new journey with smaller locs this time...
I don’t regret it but I did love my journey and could see myself starting the journey again further in the future. Glad you did what was best for you!

@kay scott that's not true at all. I know from actual experience. I combed out my locs 2yrs ago and my hair is thriving.

Do you think micro locs would have been better for your hair and if someone else Re tie them for you?
