Awesome video u just earned a new subscriber!! Please answer this question, so I made only 990 dollars the hole year, and with all the stuff I put into my car/maintenance/ miles / phone/ tolls etc, it's pretty much the same price as what I made 990^. So I just did my taxes I have my real job and my unemployment, I told my tax guy about doordash and he said u don't have to worry about doing that?? What do you think?? Will I be ok? Or get in trouble? Please respond, I'll have my buddies subscribe to u also! Thanks man
When do we start tracking? 1. From we strat work and stop when we stop work. 2. start each orders, from we accept order to customer home? Please help sir.
Thank you so much for this!! This is my first time filing taxes since I started with DoorDash and I've been so flustered on where to even begin. Your video helped me to create a quick game plan, now I can begin my tax prep with confidence.
Thanks for the video like these have been truly helpful especially because I am a new Dasher and I just didn’t know what any of this stuff meant or what I had to do for any of it so I really appreciate
Hey Im one of those that didnt know have to pay for taxes in their county... I mean technically your a sole proprietor/ independent contractor but not really? Your working under a company so do we need DBA, business license, pay LOS ANGELES COUNTY TAX? I know fed and state taxes should be paid but for the county??
Sneaky Channel i did it through turbo tax you enter all the info into it and than they tell you how much you owe. You can use mileage as a tax write off and will reduce it a lot
Can i write off the cost of the phone i use to dash? If so, can it be a phone i bought a couple years back and what percent do i write off? if i want to write off my phone bill, do i just calculate the total months i spent dashing where i paid for the bill? for ex if i dashed for two months would the expense just be the amount i spent on phone bill during those two months or the entire of the year? what expenses does the standard mileage rate include?
When do we start tracking? 1. From we start work and stop when we stop work. 2. start each order, from we accept orders to customer home? Please help sir.
So I started DD in the beginning of October 2019. Should I not worry about quarterly taxes for now? So I should just file taxes in April 2020 for everything ive done so far, and then start quarterly at the next due date after April 2020 for that? Which I believe is June 15th 2020
Question about tracking the mileage. Can we just give a basic number like 8,000 miles for 1200 deliveries or we do have to show them proof? Also I have a lot gas receipts saved up. Are they a write off too?
Try to be honest. It’s easy to keep track of your miles.. simple as writing them down everyday. If you use gas and car expenses such as oil change, tires, brakes etc etc as a write off than you can’t do the mileage. It’s one or the other
Important question: after delivering an order to your customer, is it better for gas tax purposes to wait at the customer you delivered the order or to drive back to a densely restaurant populated area?
Everything in this video was good advice except turbo tax. I don't know about the other free tax places like h&r block but I used to use turbo tax like everyone else until one time they tried to charge me a few thousand which made no sense. I went to my tax guy and I got a ton of money back and lost nothing. He has been in it his whole life and knows what he is doing plus it only costs based on the amount of work he puts in. Which was usually between 50 to 100 bucks. Depends on where you go on what price you get so don't be afraid to try tax agents out, you never know if you might get a good deal.
Quick question. You said that you activate the mileage tracker as you drive to the spots. I live about 20 miles away from the doordash hot spots. Do I activate the mileage tracker during the 20 mile trip or wait till I start dashing?
I am new at this, started last Oct. I have zero knowledge on this and after listening to this realize that I haven't been tracking mileage or accurate expenses. I had no idea. Since I haven't been doing, where should I pick up with this ?
What if you decided to drive to a bigger city because it was busy and was worth the drive there. For me it would be an hour drive there. Can you start adding that as a deductible? Does turning on the app and then driving there be how to go about that with the scheduling option?
I'm 18 and still on my father's insurance and phone plan. We also share the car, which he pays maintenance for. Am I still able to use these as write offs?
quick question- so if I worked a normal full time job and got a w2 then my 1099 for doordash. So will I need to make a seperate payment for the taxes owed on my doordash income or will it be subtracted from my return?
What about gas expenses. Is that a write-off too? Also for you guys that have gone through this already. Have you actually had to pay taxes at the end of the year? I have a friend that didn't have to. Mainly because of his miles. He would only take dashes where he felt confident he would make 1$ per mile.
so this was my first year doing door dash, i’m new to doing my own taxes as well so pls no hate if this is a stupid question!! but is there a way of deducting my own taxes from each “pay period” rather than owing money every year during tax filing? hope that makes sense..
Is their any way possible for doordash to take taxes out automatically? Iv never worked for door dash or anything before and had to do taxes in this way
Unfortunately no. Since those who drive for Door Dash are classified as Independent Contractors we are technically self employed. Meaning we are not employees of DoorDash itself.
You can use the free Turbo Tax software for this? I thought I read that you can't use the free software if using a 1099-MISC form. Or do you use one of the other softwares they offer?
I always forget to turn off my Stride mileage tracker after I dash. I usually don’t go far from where my last Dash is from my home but it still worries me. Is there a solution to this or should I use a different app?
I started DoorDash just a month ago and I used Everlance to track my mileage , I set tracker setting on auto. So when ever I drive it tracks me and it shows me for DoorDash with it’s name. Hope it helps you.
Hi I have questions. My tax lady told me I can’t write off mileage from my home to the restaurant. It supposed to be tracking mileage from the restaurant .is this true?
I've seen some people say DoorDash will only calculate the miles taken from the restaurant to their house, but not the mileage that took you to get to the restaurant. Is this true?
I use credit karma cause it's free turbo charges; ive done door dash for a few days you mentioned in other video about paying quarterly taxes ? I will use the stride app for mileage, keeping all gas receipts, phone bill charges, car maintenance charges in mind, and wanting to do things right please share the knowledge

DON'T use turbo tax. They can actually take a certain amount of your refund without your consent and have certain practices that allow them to take advantage of people who file with them. Use the normal government tax return website and file for free.
I have a question. I need to update my home address and can't find where to do that. So I wondered do dashers recieve a physical 1099 or is it electronic? This is my first year doing door dash. Thanks!
Maybe this is a weird question, but even if the cell phone I use isn’t under my own name can I still write off what I pay per month for it? I pay my portion of the bill, it’s just not in my name. Thanks 😊
Someone told me that you can only write off the mileage from the restaurant to the customer's house. That you can't write off for mileage it took you to drive to the restaurant? Is that true is that true or is that bull crap. because to me if I have to drive 5 miles to get to the restaurant I should be able to write that off .
Hey! So I didn't even realize how much actually goes into this, and have been a door dash driver for a while. And I haven't tracked miles, gas or anything like that. Is there anything you recommend me doing for the ones that I have missed? Thanks!
Mallary Mae if you log in to DoorDash on a computer you should be able to find your mileage. You can multiply that by the standard mileage deduction to get your total expenses
You can expense everything car related (including gas) by multiplying the number of miles you drive by the standard deduction rate - i believe that is now $.58
So can I also deduct gas? Also I saw when quarterly payments are due to the irs, but how do I determine what the estimated tax due is? I wasn't an independent contractor last year, so I don't have that to go by. Do I calculate using my earnings from January - March & also use my mileage for that time? Or do I not worry about quarterly payments until next year? I literally just started & it seems so daunting, although from what I gather it's fairly simple once you figure it out.
No just use the standard mileage deduction. You should be tracking your own mileage but if you didn’t you can use the number DoorDash gives you in your dashboard
I am using freetaxusa. Do I need to do a schedule C form? I worked a regular W-2 job at the beginning of the year. And then worked Doordash and Ubereats for the rest of the year
Thanks for the video. First year delivery filer here. I do eats, dash, and grubhub and listed all on 1099 misc and the income made from each. Stride uploaded expenses ( though I can't see where it posted my mileage, all I can see is expenses like cell phone) when I get to the mileage deduction on the 1099 it asks for vehicle mileage start and end. I didn't track that or know I needed to. I used a few vehicles and never kept track, just ran the app. So at this point not sure if hr block online accounted for my mileage through the stride upload or if I need to somehow fudge numbers for each vehicle I used under the deductions tab? Anyone else have similar issues or knowledge of this?
I'm looking at the same thing. TurboTax doesn't look like it's very cheap. Seems like the additional forms should be pretty straight forward. Did you find a cheaper system?
Qua Sherman what I’m gonna do is write down every time I’ve gotten gas while during ride-shares from my bank statements, and add those up - also going to write down my total mileage which I can actually find via Grubhub & doordash payment statements.
Torimani That’s a good idea , except for the gas, I don’t remember from my bank statements which were for door dash and which were just me getting gas so I’m going to just have to go off of an estimate still
@@Gignation what do you mean quarterly I've been doing DD since Jan this yr part time at first then full time in June I haven't received anything from DD about taxes yet, am I suppose to or is it at the end of the yr? Now I'm confused
So how do I actually calculate an entire ride? Can I calculate Mike's to resturant, miles to diner then miles home or to another restaurant and then just minus the miles that GH pays me for?
Heather Teske Just use the trip button on your car odometer. You can switch it to different trips so you can only keep track of the miles you use for DoorDash.
If door dash is the only income you had for the year...i don't think even have to file taxes with income under $600 If you had other jobs the $200 would just be added to your other income
You can estimate or use history. Generally it looks like $1.25 to 0.75 per mile, so if you earn about $10,000 you should have 8000 to 12000 miles. You can track things for a few months and see what your average is, then based it on your earnings.
Please help i forgot to track how much gas and miles ive put on my car am i screwed now for the deductibles i could have added for the first month i did doordash im still currently dashing any help would be greatly appreciared
Hello. i tried out doordash few days ago just to see what it is like to work with doordash. Now that i know about tax, i don't think i will continue. Remember you're also responsible for Social Security tax (FICA) and Medicare taxes ...that totals 15.3% and then there is the income tax right now is 12% under $37000..(I think, but you can look it up) Im putting back 28% each direct deposit from Door Dash...if you over pay then u just get a refund.
Man I didn’t knew about taxes or everything I use my sis account secretly. I just try make money with it that sucks. I received something like 1099.idk.what if I did nothing with it just pass it by ig anything bad it could happen u think. Reply pls
What about the car insurance that’s an expense that we can add, plus the miles the gas, tolls, etc. because in reality if you do it as a side job a couple of hours a day it’s not that much of a earnings so I’m guessing the money that we have to return can’t be that much, I don’t know that’s how I see it, example in the comments someone say that made 5k and He paid 700 to me that’s a loooot!!! gotta be less than that. anyone ???
I’m trying to do my taxes right now, and when I got to adding income and expenses, I chose 1099 misc independent contractor and it said the free version didn’t cover this, and I can’t get any further. Doing this with turbo tax free
There is a totally 100 percent free way to file taxes but I forget the name but I do know there's a video on RUclips talking about it and it's from this show called the Patriot act it's the one about taxes of course

Torimani That’s a good idea , except for the gas, I don’t remember from my bank statements which were for door dash and which were just me getting gas so I’m going to just have to go off of an estimate still
Everlance says $1000 per 580 miles so you can use that as an estimation
@@torimani where can you find your mileage on doordash statements?
lilboibluej619 dude.. how can that be?? It’s .55 cents per mile in ‘18 I think and .58 in ‘19.. you can’t just take $1000 per 580...?
What about tips? How are those taxed for self employed? More then half of my income is customer tips...
IRS get a cut of any income in the USA 🇺🇸!
What about when you fill up gas? Does that count??
No you can only claim mileage as far as I know.
Thank you!!
Do have to pay taxes at the end of the year or quarterly
Quarterly after your first year as an independent contractor
@@Gignation what do you mean quarterly I've been doing DD since Jan this yr part time at first then full time in June I haven't received anything from DD about taxes yet, am I suppose to or is it at the end of the yr? Now I'm confused
Where can I find that HR block free advice session? Having trouble.
It’s not advertised. But unless they’ve changed the policy you won’t be charged for them calculating your taxes due until they actually file them
So how do I actually calculate an entire ride? Can I calculate Mike's to resturant, miles to diner then miles home or to another restaurant and then just minus the miles that GH pays me for?
Heather Teske Just use the trip button on your car odometer. You can switch it to different trips so you can only keep track of the miles you use for DoorDash.
I need help so bad. Is there a way to contact you? Im stressing out and getting sad/angry at turbo tax. Im new to this all
It's okay we all are.
Deus Ex baby how did it go guys i’m just starting
What happens if we did Doordash for say a week or two but made less then $200 for the whole time. Would I still need to do the taxes??
Endrix Arias no under $400 you’re fine
If door dash is the only income you had for the year...i don't think even have to file taxes with income under $600 If you had other jobs the $200 would just be added to your other income
Door dash make you sign a w9 form ?
Under $600 no.
I’ve been dashing for 2 weeks and I haven’t been tracking my miles 🤦🏿♂️
You're lucky
Me too ... I haven’t tracked mileage either . It’s been almost three weeks... Sucks. Which app would anybody recommend?
@@tltarzan678 I just look at Google maps time line and went through everyday i drove to restaurants
TL Tarzan I use drivers note, however its always pinging your phone so if I’m not using it or my normal maps i turn off location services
Also are the taxes digital or willl they be mailed to me ?
What if the app didn’t track my mileage?I just have to guess??
You should use a mileage tracking app
nana chan login to your account online and they have a mileage estimator
Rideshare Panel Which one do you suggest? Thats free.
They had me do Everlance but it seems like its not going to be free soon.
Isaiah Ruffin hi; i just looked around on my account and didnt see a mileage estimator. Help.
If you have been using google maps for directions to get there you can go into google maps and it will show you where you have been and how many miles
Okay what to do If someone didnt had a track record from doordash that how much money he had made and how many miles he has driven?
Log into your dashboard they should track those stats for you
when you first signed up what title did you claim your business? LLC? Sole prop?
I already had an LLC set up so I used that, majority of people use sole proprietorship
Jonathan C Whitney thanks man!!
Hello.
i tried out doordash few days ago just to see what it is like to work with doordash. Now that i know about tax, i don't think i will continue. So far, i made 103.21, am i required to report this income or pay tax on it. i looked up information online and found that if you make less than 400 per year, you dont have to pay tax on it, is it true? can anyone here shed me some lights. thank you!!!
After you make 600 from door dash they will send you a 1099 form. If you make under $599 then you don’t need to claim it.
Chain 600 from one day or 600 in total?
Jasmine Nicole I got mine once I made 600 in total
I’ve not been tracking my miles. What I do?
Log into the DoorDash dashboard on your computer they track for you
@@Gignation thanks for your reply. I’m guessing I have to use my laptop coz I tried my phone and I’m not seeing where it tracks my miles
Do the miles cancel out the taxes you owe?
Multiply miles by the standard mileage deduction to get your vehicle related expenses. These expenses lower your tax burden
Does the tax include the tip?!
Ya
Gig Nation that’s dumb tbh so it’s not really a tip smh
About what percentage of money should I save every paycheck for my taxes???
Your questions lead more to doing quarterly taxes...you would be better off doing it that way
Remember you're also responsible for Social Security tax (FICA) and Medicare taxes ...that totals 15.3% and then there is the income tax right now is 12% under $37000..(I think, but you can look it up) Im putting back 28% each direct deposit from Door Dash...if you over pay then u just get a refund.
hello, when i did my turbo tax with doordash i put in my 1099 info but it never asked for my milege...what did i do wrong?
Mileage was 54.5 cents per mile for 2018, will be 58 cents per mile for 2019.
Chicken Ray are you sure?
Man I didn’t knew about taxes or everything I use my sis account secretly. I just try make money with it that sucks. I received something like 1099.idk.what if I did nothing with it just pass it by ig anything bad it could happen u think.
Reply pls
Sneaky Channel irs comes after you if you do not pay them.
Thats what im saying credit karma is free
There is a totally 100 percent free way to file taxes but I forget the name but I do know there's a video on RUclips talking about it and it's from this show called the Patriot act it's the one about taxes of course
Is most important to have some stash on the side because you're going to have to kick that out to Uncle Sam
Absolutely good advice
@@Gignation is it best to file quarterly instead of waiting
Please is it mandatory for me to file tax as a dasher. And is there consequences for not fileing
IRS will tax 33 percent on top of what you originally owed!
I try to sign up doordash drivers too so I want to know more about it for w-9 form how you have to pay? You have to pay every month or every years and how much we’re have to pay? for taxes if they’re send us email we’re can print and fill out or we’re just have to do in online? And my husband is work to another job so if we’re do Texas we’re can do together right? Because we’re have the same case so we’re doing taxes together every years. Because I never work in doordash so I don’t know about doordash please explain for me
You’re required to pay quarterly after your first year as an independent contractor. You’ll get an email with links to tax info online.
I mean I will have to pay every years?
DoorDash 3 Month Review: ruclips.net/video/A9_-hN7eKtI/видео.html
I like this vid
Please Rideshare if you have an experience from last year or even this year, would you tell me pls if you received the invitations via email yet to use payable account cause whenever I called them the said we did not send it yet but they sent me email saying if you did not sign up to payable account and select your tax for request you then not be able to get your 1099 from
sam anderson Is sure you will get the email from Payable in the next few days, usually it comes shortly after
did you do your own taxes?
Yea
how do I get my doordash taxes mail to me so I can file my taxes
You will get an email
You have to request it from doordash. ...they send a notice on your app to you on how to get it...click the bell in the upper right corner
But you can also file them independently without the form from dd
So does doordash not send out a form that has all the information on it
I think we’re responsible for calculating our expanses and mileage
Thanks so much for this bro. I’m waiting for payable. I believe I made about 20k this year with Doordash. I’m kinda worried, but I don’t want to stress out
Bacari Green wow congrats on the earnings not bad at all 👍
Rideshare Panel thanks bro. I plan on making more than that this year. Doordash has changed my life in many ways. I’m thankful and blessed I’m glad people like you make doordash vids to keep me not informed
Glad to help
looks like you may owe about $2,800.00. I owe $91 and I only made $648.00 lol. you can find tax calculator online, that's how I found your tax. You sure are blessed!.....with taxes.
SuperFalsehope thank you so much! 😁👍🏽
