Thank you for the very kind words. I'm trying to stick more to first principles but it is very tempting to look to the Mill. Mind you, after Christmas a bit more physical effort won't go amiss 😁
Yes, there were a few options, each with their own pros and cons 👍 On reflection I think you're right, start with wider flat stock, solder in the boss, no need for a jig.
Nice and neat work! I bet you know.... but the solder does not only flow where the flux is, it is also flows where the heat comes from... in youre case here, try to apply heat from the underside. Realy nice work!
Hi Chris, You can take the credit for my desire to use the files instead of the milling machine 🙂 As for the heat, I did start with the flame against the bottom, but my Jig was taking too much heat away, so I moved to the top, hence the messy finish :-( Soldering is like painting - it's all about preparation and......very day is a learning day! Cheers Mark

Great hand file work, better looking than some of my best mill work.

Yet more nice videoing chap . Might have been an idea to drill a hole for the boss to be silver soldering too as opposed to cutting a slot in the boss

When’s it gonna be finished
Mark, hand tools? So files aren’t used for opening paint tins and using as pry bars?!? 😂. Beautiful work as always 👌. All the best, Matt
