  • Welcome to pop-up class, students! May is Dinosaur Month for us here on my channel, so I thought I'd share with you how I made one of my most iconic dinosaur pops from my NYTimes best-selling book 'Encyclopedia Prehistorica - Dinosaurs' - the chomping Tyrannosaurus Rex. Let's go through each step together and build a big biting pop-up carnosaur from scratch!
    Here's a link if you're interested in purchasing 'Encyclopedia Prehistorica - Dinosaurs' :

    Please feel free to send me pictures or videos of the pop-ups you create from my Pop-Up Master Class videos - because I want to see them! Tag me in any photos you would like me to see on the social media links posted below, but please be sure that you ask for a parent's permission first before you post beforehand if you are a kid.
    Please send comments to my Instagram ( / matthewcreinhart ) or Facebook page ( / mrpopups ) or email me at my website MatthewReinhart.com (matthewreinhart...) if you have any suggestions for future lessons or DIY pop-up crafts. Thank you so much, Matthew, for all of your wonderful, inventive art, and for being so generous to teach us how to make our own pop-ups. I really, really appreciate you doing this.

    I just love seeing these and learning from them. I got a couple of your amazing books, and I made an eagle from one of your jaw mechanism videos. One of my favourite Christmas presents I ever got, was Sharks and other sea monster. I'm so amazed by that sea scorpion in the beginning, and would love to see tutorials on that, of any of those from these book, including the smaller ones, like the Titanic Turtle. Just to name a few 🤓

    So great, thank you very much. I have one question to Mr. Reinhart, unfortunately not relating to this clip, but I want to write it down anyway: Since the news of a new Middle-Earth movie from Peter Jackson and his team, is there any chance that we could see the creation of maybe a series of big Pop Up books surrounding the Middle-Earth Universe? I have this thought since the releases of your wonderful Harry Potter Pop Up books. Thanks again for your masterful creations and the joy it brings to so much people, including me. Greetings from Germany.

      I will ask my publisher if it's a possibility! Sure thing! Middle Earth needs to POP.

    I have tried made t-rex with your video and I completed it but I don't know why the mount has some problems when I open it. It looks different than your t-rex

      Give it another try if you can - you'll get it working right! I get stuff wrong so often at first.

    Prof. I have a question about planning a pop up book, like how do you choose a good scene (from a story/movie) to make into a pop up book spread? do you have any tips for that?

    • @MatthewCReinhart
      @MatthewCReinhart 2 месяца назад +1

      I think about what's visually interesting about a scene. Think about your pop-up book like a movie - you wouldn't want to see the entire movie from one angle - you 'd want to see far shots, close-ups, etc. I try to think about what elements, characters, scenes, and environments would be cool to experience in moving 3-D paper structures. Sometimes I have to critically analyze my ideas along the way and not get married to any concept once I've gotten feedback. I'm not always right at first!
