Honestly just a young man tryna make his father proud and have his loving words of im proud of you son ...is truly what a man wants to hear from his father 💯
While I can't imagine such a relationship, or such a battle, I'm sure that all the men here, who have got very little recognition from their fathers, can quite well relate to the tears, and that desperate subconscious craving for a single display of genuine fatherly pride in the way that they are. At the end of the season, when they discovered how much they actually love and admire eachother, I actually envied the two of them.
I grew up without knowing or ever meeting my father whenever the narrator talks about Baki receiving praise after 17 years of never getting it I can't help but tear up
Compared to the Japanese voice actor it's really lacking but it's not awful voice acting or anything. Their voice just doesn't fit the character as well.
I feel like yujiro is at the same time protecting himself from being surpassed and killed by Baki. And finally being a good father which he never cared about previously and for any of his other children.
It’s obnoxious as hell and it happens in almost every fight the same thing goes for Records of Ragnarok the fights are awesome but I can’t help but roll my eyes and fast forward past the explanations just to hear the plot and see the fight imagine if in Dragon Ball Z while on Namek they did this shit you’d probably age 3 years from when Gohan Krillin and Bulma arrive to when Goku first starts to fight Frieza
I actually believe you overlook the fact that Yuujirou doesn't genuinely mean anything he says; he doesn't harbor any love for Baki. To him, Baki is simply an emotional being, and exploiting that vulnerability is like delivering a punch or a kick. Unfortunately, Baki lacks any defense against such attacks. Hence, while everyone perceives this tactic as dishonorable and despicable, Yuujirou remains indifferent. For him, absolute power reigns supreme, regardless of its honesty or deceitfulness; power is power. When faced with a genuine challenger, Yuujirou doesn't hold back, as seen in his encounters with Baki's mother (not that she is very powerful but rather she wouldn´t give up until death), animals (since they fight to the death), and his near-fatal encounter with Doppo Orochi, where he showed no regard for technique or fairness.
Not so sure about that. He was genuinely proud of Baki and he wanted to really pat him on the head. Come on, yujiro doesn’t need any tricks or martial arts to beat his opponent. He uses pure strength, as he demonstrated in his fight against the old man (kaku kaiou). Yujiro was just happy someone was showing him strength for the first time in a long time, for it to be his own son…? Come on
I am 99% sure that if he had accepted the head pat, it would have taken a ridiculously short amount of time to go from sincere paternal love to the most ridiculous wrestling move ever devised.
