I'm so happy I stumbled onto this channel. Thank you for your inspiration. It would be amazing if the makers of the floating chair with the wheels couldn't collab with the accessurf peeps.
I’m able to walk short distances, so I can get out of a chair and go to the water but don’t want to leave my chair alone. This is all new to me. I can walk but I need a lung transplant. That’s why I’m in a chair.
This is long overdue, but thank you so much for this video. We used this for my gf to join this group and surf, and she had a wonderful time. This group was fantastic and gave her an amazing experience! We may do it again on our upcoming 2nd trip!
I’m so glad you got to experience surfing! I live on oahu and am in a wheelchair. The first time I got involved with accessurf, one ride on the surfboard and my life changed! But I agree that we have to improve wheelchair beach access
Thanks Dara! Yes, AccesSurf is totally life-changing! They’re doing an incredible job of making the ocean accessible to people of all abilities. Our day at the beach with them more than made up for the less accessible beach experiences we had prior to discovering them. 😄
It depends on the situation, but in the rare case that the chair is empty (swim/surf sessions being a good example), it's never far from us. We'll usually either ask an attendant to keep an eye on it or we'll go out of our way to check on it periodically.
What a beautiful experience with amazing support! I had tears of joy for you.
This moved me so much!!!! I cried during the AccesSurf part!! So amazing. I'm going next month. Helped me plan
Big smiles reading this. ❤️ We always cry at AccesSurf - it’s really the greatest experience. Have a wonderful time!
ME TOO!!
This is such a great organisation, it was beautiful to see, big love to all involved and I hope you surf again

Amazing cool
Im in a wheelchair and this is beautiful
When you go to other places and you are away from your chair how do you Secure it?

Dope
When you get out of your chair, where do you put it and how do you keep it secure so someone does not take it?
AccesSurf has a special area where you park your chair and they look after it till you’re out of the water!
Also I’m wondering which hotel you stayed in? We’re taking my parents next year and my dad uses a walker.
We love the Diamond Head side of Waikiki - lots of accessible hotels to choose from there!
Where was the band playing in the last segment of this video?
This was Mike Love and the Full Circle at Hawaiian Brian’s in Honolulu. 🎶
