  • I picked my new Scamp up in April of 2017 in Backus ,Mn. I have logged over 40,000 miles on her. Have lived out of her a year. Done alot of changes to make her more as my home. Truely happy with my Scamp once all the bugs were worked out. I travel the USA and Canada with two small Yorkies. Amber and Little Man!

    Man, what a great tour.
    Very thorough and informative.
You have tricked out your Scamp very well.
We had a ‘79 Scamp 13’ from May 2011 until January 2014. We took that thing everywhere, and got a lot of enjoyment out of her.
I am amazed at the design and engineering of the Scamps. It’s really impressive how much they have packed into such a small, portable package.
    Happy Trails

We picked our 13 foot scamp in June 2017 at the factory. It was quite a trip from Ontario. We have the one with the bathroom though we only use it at night and on super rainy days. The first thing I did was to make new curtains for it-red with white polka dots. We have traveled all over eastern Canada and several places in Ontario in "Scampie" and we just love it! Our two little terriers love it too and enjoy sleeping under our bed. The shelves in the closet look great-must show that to my husband :). Our closet door ripped off on a trip we did last month. We had been on much rougher roads in previous trips so I'm not sure why it happened-anyhow it is fixed now and won't come off again.

Thanks for watching and comment. I put Luann backing on my cabinets. Took all the doors down ( when I painted them ) Glued some Luann backing where the hinges would go....used claps to hold in place til the glue tried. Then I found a longer copper screw on Azozon that matched the old screws. I did all the cabinet doors.!!

If you haven't already, check out your automotive or marine stores (or Amazon) for a BEARING BUDDY. I have had many boat trailers and dipping into salt water you need to regrease your bearings frequently. Don't need to pull and repack, just force enough grease to flush out the old stuff. They sell a small grease gun with cartridges most everywhere. I am looking at a 2014 13ft Scamp with an awning and a/c for a good price, unfortunately Nova Scotia and Newfoundland camps are all closed. Your videos have been very informative for me and I will keep following.

Thanks for sharing your trailer and your modifications, they’re great! I called Scamp last week and got a price for the 13’ with bathroom and a number of other options (AC, vinyl floor, awning, etc) and was quoted a figure of around $16,400. I have a class c motor home, but if I do a big trip the flexibility of this Scamp would be preferable....now if I can ever get time off work...

Thanks for the video as well! It was very informative and well organized. We’re picking up our Scamp next week and are so excited!! We also opted to go without the bathroom but have an outdoor shower and will pick up a little compost potty for times we are not at a campsite. Wanted the space and in its place have a little table and benches that close into a single bed/bench so we can keep our bed open and made throughout. Plan to be outside more than in anyway.😊. Safe and peaceful travels!

Amazing! That sink/stove cover is just beautiful! I reckon you can sell that and many scamp owners would love one! You are a Pro when it comes to making videos. You mentioned propane leak --> we are ever nervous about those propane tanks (and using propane in the trailer), can you share your experience on the leakage? I'd really appreciate it. We might opt for the whole trailer to be solar powered (if we can afford it). thank you.

Nice touches to your Scamp. You mention bugs you had to work out?? I have a 2008 13ft. I picked up new from Backus. My wife and I love it, but it came with some bugs, or quality control/design issues I had address. First, the silicone sealant around the windows was put on sloppy, it was a bear removing and correcting it. The aluminum band around the trailer is not anodized and started pitting right away, I sanded it and it is now painted with white enamel. The fiberglass cutouts around the drawers were crudely cut, had to file straight to fix. Many of the outside rivet covers have cracked and fell off, used sealant to protect from leaks. I have to rub a little oil on the cast door hinges and front window cover hardware to stop the rusting. Powder coating the frame and bumper would be nice instead of having the black paint pitting. I had a water leak on the floor and found rainwater coming in from a small gap at the furnace exhaust, I built a cover to stop that, remembering to remove it when needing to use the furnace. All of this, and it is stored under a Scamport (carport) I built. I don't mean to sound negative, the trailer is a lot of fun and very light to pull. I would gladly pay more for better parts and workmanship. It would be worth it.I like the cover you built over the stove and sink. I built one that goes over just the two-burner stove. The extra counter top is very helpful for a coffee maker and microwave. We use the bunks as storage, set up the awning with folding TV tray and two folding chairs for eating/sitting around. The bed stays a bed. I also replaced all the lights with LED's.After all the bugs, we still love Scamping. Thanks for sharing your Scamp.

It’s nice 👍 I see a lot of squabbling in the comment section about the lack of a bathroom, females would prefer one, etc.
I’m with you on this topic. It’s easy to get a composting or cassette toilet, or a luggable loo, Cuvier, whatever, and either set it up inside, maybe while traveling when you just stop for a night. Then when you’re at a camp site, pitch a shower tent for convenience sake. I like camp grounds with a bath house, let them deal with the humidity and plumbing lol.
