I hear Dana Holgerson and Gary Patterson are available...

My feeling is it would be better for Tulane to hire a sitting head coach vs an up and coming assistant because Tulane needs to build upon their foundation of success...slow and steady. Too much risk/reward with an assistant coach.

Fritz ran the triple option when he first came to Tulane. It didn't work, so he had to adapt. He struggled for a while, but as we all know did really well in the end.

Thanks for adding that to the conversation
I’m curious to see what Calhoun (if he’s the hire) chooses to do schematically

Either choice would be good at Tulane. Good luck raiding Army.
I do not want a Triple Option Offense at Temple. However, the Pistol Spread is proven bad Offense scheme at Temple. HC Matt Rhule used Power Running by always lining up in a Y and I formation, often supplemented with TEs. This was used in both running and passing plays. The QB alternated between under Center and Shotgun with no correlation to running or passing. This Hybrid scheme worked at Temple. Our current HC Stan Drayton is too stubborn to look at old tape Temple winning Teams. Therefore, I have been advocating for UCLA Analyst Ken Niumatolo to replace HC Drayton. The Temple expert during the use of the Hybrid Scheme was Glen Thomas, the current Steeler OC Analyst.
Temple NFL players who were part of the Hybrid Offense Scheme include: Ravens RB Bernard Pierce, Carolina RB Ryquell Armstead, Dolphins WR Robbie Chosen (Robby Anderson), and Browns QB Philip Walker.
Using this Hybrid Offense Scheme did not stop HC Matt Rhule from getting the Baylor HC job, the NFL Carolina HC job, and now the Nebraska HC job. Winning games by building a program gets you career success.

Tulane is the premier football program in the AAC They have to get this hire correct to continue their growth.

Shifting HC coaching gears is always risky. Hiring a successful HC is less risk than hiring a 1ST Time HC. If hiring a 1ST Time HC, the AD has to be involved hiring the OC, DC, and STC.

Monken literally just signed an extension at army after the utsa game. I’d be shocked if he left there. Calhoun is in a pretty cushy spot at Air Force where if you win you might be in the best g5 conference and landing a playoff spot, and if you don’t, you have grace because it’s Air Force.

Tulane can do way better than their current additional candidates from the academies.

It's very obvious that Tulane should hire their current offensive coordinator. 🤷🏾‍♂️
