I have had one for years. I have taken it on many mission trips and DX expeditions. Also I have used it for portable emergency operation Great easy to set up antenna
I am it the process of assembling this antenna. and my understanding of the tuning is based on where in the 20 meter band you prefer. in my case i prefer the upper phone frequencies (14.300) so i adjusted both element 1 & 3 to 7 inches DIM A & DIM B according to chart A . . If I am reading this correctly, regardless of what end of the band you choose both element 1 & 3 need to be the same according to chart A. As far as element 2 goes in order to get 205.5 inches i did not make the adjust on the ends (EE). instead, I needed to shorten the entire length by 1 1/2 inches and did so by simply loosening the hose clamps (411) and slid both sides in 3/4 of an inch. . . . . I look forward to any input or opinion that anyone has on this. Gary KC1OXM New Hampshire
That is correct mine and the same, and I agree about the tuning chart, I think the posted might have made an error with his 9 and 7 on the outer elements.
Could I ask where do you come to the decision for 7inches at the ele 1 and 9 inches for ele 3? If you want a centre freq of 14.025 the two elements are 9" , 14.175 the two elements are 8" and 14.300 the two elements are 7" How did you come to the decision to put 9 on the rear and 7 on the front elements?
To help with UV protection, wrap the end caps on each trap with electrical tape. Taping over the vertical side where the elements connect is not necessary. I am also the one that said to inspect the screws inside the traps to make sure they were tight. 73' K2RET
Did you get good SWR? because I have been fighting with it. I see you got two different messuments for element 2 and 3. The tuning chart says 8 inches for the general portion of the band but those 8 inches are for both element 2 and 3. Im just wondering if I have mine set the wrong way. Let me know Im having a heck of a time tuning 20 meters.

how's the antenna? still performing well?
How well would you say the beam performs? How do you think the 12/17m rotatable dipole works?

radioman480 Thank you so much for all the information on the traps! I am going to take the traps off tomorrow and I will post a video on them!

@@idkhamradio6088 Glad you found the broken trap before you put it in the air. Nice video of your find. Good luck, de K2RET

I do not have any issues with the SWR. With that being said.....my MA5B likes the lower portion on 20 meters.
@@idkhamradio6088 It likes the lower because of the 9" setting, should you want it center of band, both elements need to be 8"
Great video, De Kg4Muk
