I'm just not a lavish amenities person. But a walkable location and lots of fresh tropical produce is ideal! Thanks for the tours. You're really getting my 56 year old mind a spinning.
Hi Guys! From the UK, I’ve been living in Cumbaya for almost three years now (I live right next to Aquarela). Love it here, great pace of life, weather, and you have everything you need yet only a stones throw from Quito. Can’t reccomend it enough!
When showing places like those it would also be nice to include the HOA price per month/annually. Just for future home videos. I'm sure that last place had huge HOA dues!!!!
You guys have made me so excited about Ecuador! My family ( 2 year old, newborn, pup and partner) are going on an exploratory trip this summer to decide whether it will be our new home for a while
Amazing places. Worth noting that Cumbaya is 7700 feet elevation. Quito is 9350 feet above sea level. Really anything above 5000 feet represents a lifestyle change that should be tested before fully committing to.
Appreciate your great housing tours. May I suggest, if available, you try to include the monthly condo/hoa maintenance costs that cover the guards, staff, cleaning and upkeep for the amenities, insurance, taxes on the common areas, etc. Friends live in a 2 br Miami Beach condo with maintenance at $2.2k @month - so while a condo might be $300k or home 400 a big factor is the monthly carry. Thanks and best to you as you continue these great videos
@@-.-.-.-.-.. you are right, bu in Quito and valleys Cumbaya,Tumbaco, Puembo and Valle Chillos, most of the rentals includes the alícuota. The average HOA fee is about $ 1,50 per m2 or per 10,76 ft2
I'm so happy to have found your channel. It was a surprise, and came out of nowhere, on it's own. Gracias. I used to watch the young couple who travelled around Mexico, but they broke-up, and broke everyone's heart(s) as well. I still love them and watch them, but your video's are outstanding and drama free. Also, may I say, JP is a lucky guy because Amelia is a lovely and attractive woman. Keep up the good work guys.
You two have really piqued my curiosity about Ecuador. I always wanted to check out Latin America. I'll probably go down there and check it out next year once the Covid madness ends. Thank you for all of the outstanding videos!
I like the concept of the #3, but nothing special inside the condos. Weather in Cumbaya is like eternal spring! So much better than Quito! Love love tour videos and all the info. Thank you guys!🙌🏻👍🏼
I wish the condos had a bathtub in the master bath. It’s hard to tell how nice they were without lights or furniture. The models were all sold so we couldn’t show those 😭
Hola patty... First house...I love the roof top... that is enough for me. I'd plant a garden up there and it would be my sanctuary. 2nd house. I love the back yard and the views from the bedrooms...very beautiful. It is a lot of space but I think worth the price.
When I was working on the construction of a gold mine in Zamora-Chinchipe the project boss lived in La Primavera for more than two years. In England it would be called "posh". They have 3 kids, so that felt like a safe area to let the kids out to play in the neighborhood, with excellent schools nearby. The kids adapted faster than the parents, giving them a "secret language" between themselves. I would prefer the last area. All those ameneties and two bedrooms close to 2000 sqft for the low 200s! I could totally see myself spending my 60s to mid 70s there.
Sweet lord those properties were amazing!! All seemed heavenly but dang the amenities of the condo property seemed out of this world! Sweet video!!☀️☀️☀️
I saw you guys walking in the Chaquiñan in Cumbaya maybe three weeks or a month ago, unfortunately I could not say hi because I recognized you too late and I was going full speed in the bicycle.. You have great videos and I am so glad that you enjoy my country..
Thanks for all the information and photos you guys provide while talking about the topic of the day. The way you guys share the info feels as if I was present listening to you guys. Thank you 😁
Thanks for another great Unconventional video. On these property tours did you hear much about the monthly maintenance fees for condos and townhouses? ¡Muchísimas gracias!
Watch the movie " Proof of Life", I believe the house featured in the movie, was located in Cumbaya. There awesome scenes of Ecuador at the end with a back drop music of Van Morrison
Unfortunately Cumbaya has become an overpriced place in Quito, this neighborhood normally is reserved for high class income people of Quito, but there are other areas like Valle de los Chillos which is more affordable and very nice like Cumbaya.
You are right, there´s also a Club Valle de Los Chillos, less expensive, I hope that soon we can do another real estate tour with Amelia and JP there ,too. Although you have some neighborhoods inside Cumbaya that are not so expensive. For example at the central location of Cumbaya, there are some old gated communities of houses, that you can get for $ 200.000, you have to reform them a little, and the location is worthy, behind the first shopping centers there. There are also old independent houses at the oldtown of Cumbaya, for between $ 180.000 and $450.000 it depends on the area of land and how commercial they are. Its not recommended to live there for security reasons, but if you want to invest in them to get a rental, are great, and in todays ecuadorian real estate market, it´s time to buy, prices are great !
I think it was a good video but I do see that you could do a round 2 because the options were very large and therefore also expensive. The first two homes I think are somewhat overpriced. Plenty of better options. I would also recommend Yoo Cumbaya by the same developer as Aquarela, a great gated community farther from the airport called Pakakuna Gardens and maybe show a bit more premium options of standalone homes (not all same in one place) in Arrayanes, Pillagua or similar, la vieja Hacienda maybe as well..
Aquarela, hands down. The 1,700 Sq ft is perfect for a couple. Location, location, location is important but amenities, amenities, amenities is more important to me.
You both have lived in some places in Ecuador. Which city would you recomend to live? I like cultural events, but not crowded ones. I like dancing, but I am not young. I know it will be a subjevtive answer, but I follow your channel for a long time, and I trust in your good taste!

Ah, Cumbaya. I found the weather to be a bit too chilly in Quito in the mornings and evenings, but the temperature in Cumbaya was always perfect, in my opinion. Just a bit lower elevation than Quito makes all the difference. Plus, they have a really great Italian restaurant there. Can't remember the name of it, but I know I could still find it if I went back there. It's no wonder that wealthier quiteños like to live there.
@@soniasalazar5629 I believe that is the one. It had a really nice semi-outdoor covered terrace seating area. The food was fantastic. I never had a bad meal there. If I ever return to Quito for a visit or otherwise, I'll make it a point to have another meal there.

Hi JP and Amelia. Have you done a video with houses like this for purchase in coastal cities like Manta? Also, do all of these have Condo/HOA type fees?
Some lovely homes. Seems like they were probably built and priced with ex pats in mind. The average per capita income for the locals would never be able to afford that.
$1,50 is an average condo fee HOA, but for the first townhouse you see in the video, the HOA per month is $ 400. The HOA fee depends on several factors, security companies are very expensive in Quito and valleys, so if there are only 15 townhouses, the HOA is more expensive, than the one you get in a big gated community of 60 houses. So, if you are interested in a specific house, I´ll tell you what´s the HOA fee monthly.
Lol, I can't believe you went to the luxury building by the end of Juan de Borgoña Street. I was able to see my house in the balcony take 😂. Personally, I don't like that building that much but I totally recommend to live in La Primavera.
Hi Guys, It seems that you have a good sense of what the different towns in Ecuador have to offer. Do you still feel that Monta is your favorite place to live.....
Great video. Tnx to be here in Quito , in my city. Hope you can make a video of amazing houses in the downtown parque la Carolina. It will be great. Hope you enjoy Quito. :)
It's important for readers to note that if you are not an Ecuadorian citizen you cannot get a mortgage and must pay cash when buying a property. That isn't mentioned enough. On the positive side, I read that if you buy a property and are not a citizen that you will automatically receive or qualify for a resident visa if the purchase is 50K or more. These are alleged facts I've read, but have not yet confirmed everything. 🙂 Can you confirm these 2 points please?
Looking at moving to Ecuador or Argentina but need a good one time financial planner here in Denver. Any recommendations Amelia and JP? Intent is to understand to he complexities associated with it.
Hi Amelia And JP! We have really enjoyed your adventures in Ecuador! We have learned a lot by watching your videos. We have a question you might be able to answer for us. In Cuenca, Olon, Manta, or anywhere you have traveled to in Ecuador. Have you ever needed an electric adapter or electric voltage converter for your electronic items?
Hello Amelia and JP, this is Solon from Houston, TX. I've decided to move to Cuenca primarily because of your channel and Don Shader's on Ecuador as a whole. One main reason I like Cuenca is that it has English AA Meetings 7 days a week at noon. This is invaluable to me. It is located at "Presidente Boreo 7:63 between Marisco Suare and Presidente Cordova on the second floor facing the street,". This is an odd way to state an address, but can you tell me which section of Cuenca this location is? I it far from the City Center?
I was in several cities in Ecuador about 20 years ago. I am okay with the idea of living in Ecuador, except for not being able to flush the toilet paper. Is it difficult to find housing where you can flush the toilet paper?

Pretty affordable to buy or rent so visit it and you wont be sorry for sure. I was there for 3 months investigating all real estate options many years ago. Lived in conocoto and sure did enjoy Cotacatchi too...one of cleanest cities Ive seen. But cumbaya and tambuco are very nice too.
All cash for expats. Credit scores are a lot different here. They’re based on regular deposits from a job or business into a bank account rather than borrowing history.
Alright, I love that last condo, do they know what the cost will be for all those awesome amenities? HOA fees? And love your top Amelia, very classy looking.
Expensive place but beautiful. I can't imagine what they would cost here in the US. But Like you I would only want a 2 bedroom place. 3 or more is way overkill for an elderly single guy like me. Although all of the amenities rock.
Hi, again! 🤪 I hope you're doing well, I wanted to ask you how it's going in Quito to receive packages (from our families in France, from China, from websites) please? Do we have to forget about receiving our packages? I also take this opportunity to ask you if there is a cheap furniture store like IKEA to buy beds, wardrobes ect.. in Quito by any chance? Thanks a lot!! 🙏
Is it a good place to get fresh fruit?! I’m looking for a tropical place with great quality fruit!! I am a veteran with 100% VA disability, this is a little over $3000 per month. Would that be sufficient?
I think you guys mentioned lingopie at some point for learning Spanish, I couldn’t remember which video it was and I was hoping for your affiliate link. Many thanks.
Hi. I like your videos. If I moved to Ecuador, I would choose a place near a nice golf course. I imagine you guys are not golfers, since you don't ever talk about it, but do you know of anyone who specializes in real estate and golf courses? Thanks, Stan
Hi Stan, I'm from Ecuador. I haven't traveled to all of the country yet, but here are two places where you'll find nice golf clubs: El Condado, Quito (there's a golf club there called Quito Tenis y Golf Club) Casa Blanca, Same, Esmeraldas (this is huge private club at the coast which has many beautiful houses)
@@shr90602 great! Other 2 options are Puembo, Ecuador. This is very close to Cumbaya. There you'll find Arrayanes Club, which I think should be the most expensive of all the options. And the other option is Valle de los Chillos, which is also close to Quito. There is Club Los Chillos, another golf club.

@@inmobiliaria.ecuador Thanks! So 1700sq ft is ~158 sq meters X $1.25 would be $197.50 a month. Not bad for all those amenities.
I enjoy your videos. I just want to visit someday.
Expensive place but beautiful. I can't imagine what they would cost here in the US.
But Like you I would only want a 2 bedroom place. 3 or more is way overkill for an elderly single guy like me. Although all of the amenities rock.
Love you hair and makeup
Beautiful video thank you.
Aquarela for me
Amazing
One of my very best friends lives there.
OMG, I won't have to sell my Harlick custom figure skates!
Great video, but can you please include some service/management charges please?
I haven't traveled to all of the country yet, but here are two places where you'll find nice golf clubs:
El Condado, Quito (there's a golf club there called Quito Tenis y Golf Club)
Casa Blanca, Same, Esmeraldas (this is huge private club at the coast which has many beautiful houses)
@@emilio4784 Thanks Emillo. I will definitely check them out. Have a great day, Stan
@@emilio4784 Great, thanks. I will look them up right now. I appreciate the help. Stan
1700 sf for 300k+. I can pay that in the states. Tks for the tour!
