I Made It To HORSESHOE CURVE - NS Trifecta - Incredible Train Action!
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 8 фев 2025
- Welcome to the world famous HORSESHOE CURVE. The Number one spot for train spotting not only in Pennsylvania, but the east coast. This location has been on my list for years and I finally got to experience it for myself. At any given time you will see one, two or even three trains rolling through the curve and at the same time, you get some incredible views. Under normal operating conditions, you can take the funicular railway to the top, but due to covid, I had to walk the nearly 200 steps to the top. So come along with me as we get some drone footage and on the ground footage and a trifecta of trains that passed the famous curve. Enjoy

Wow what a view.. Amazing.. 😁
Wow, what a show... fantastic !
JR,
In 1959 I took the PRR from Philly to Chicago and we went around the horseshoe curve, I've never forgotten it! I was 17 years old on the way to the National 4-H convention.
A great trip, a pullman sleeper on the way out and one of those all-in-one rooms on the way back. I used to have a deck of PRR cards but they are long gone.
Cheers,
Rik Spector
Amazing imagery... cool music!
Beautiful scenery! Just gorgeous! I can’t believe three trains came at once, that’s amazing!
What a beautiful area and to have trains is a added bonus. Great 8as always.
Amazing footage Jason! What beautiful views! Three trains, how awesome. I'm loving it. Thank you again for the ride! 🚂🚂🚂
My pleasure

WOW !!!
😲
@@JPVideos81 Husband and I both watched it. Exciting!
JP, I just wanted to tell you that my husband and I love your videos and watch you all the time. I also wanted to tell you a little story concerning Horseshoe Curve. Back in the mid 60's until the mid 70's my mom, grandma and I would leave the old Penn Central Station in Pittsburgh to travel to Atlantic City on a train called The Broadway Limited. We would disembark in Philadelphia to board another train(in later years that second train no longer ran and we had to catch a Trailways bus)and travel on to AC, NJ. We boarded the train in Pittsburgh around midnight so I was asleep when we came to Horseshoe Curve. On the way back however, it was daytime and I absolutely loved going around the curve. I always thought it was cool seeing the other part of the train. I noticed the it said that the engine that is sitting there was placed there in the mid 80's. There was always an engine sitting there when we went through in the 60's and 70's so it must have been a different one, I guess. Another fun fact...in the first two years that we made this trip my brother also went along. One of the things he and I used to love doing was standing on the platform in the back of the train. Those were the days !
One more thing, there are two Inclines in Pittsburgh that go up to Mt. Washington. It's worth the trip if they are still running.
Thank you for sharing
That was very cool great pictures
Thanks for sharing Jp. I love trains
Me too rob. Thanks for watching.
Horseshoe curve is an excellent train spot for sure. Great footage as always. I would love to see ol' 7048 get the sanders and paint guns treatment and get her all freshened up and looking like new. She deserves a refurbishing. Nice location.
Awesome job jp thanks for sharing
so very beautiful
Amazing Location! Thanks for sharing this with all of us! Love it!
Nice place for a visit. All those steps suck though.
The Train Trifecta it is!
Love your 'Conrail' T 👍
My dad was a locomotive engineer for Conrail back in the 80's. He lived in Chestnut Hill.....if I can recall 🚂🚂🚂
Keep your train video's coming, JP!
I thoroughly enjoy them! 👍😊🌷
That's so awesome
Noah was amazed by the trains passing each other and he said Hi Jp thank you .... Thank you for giving us your best and your an amazing guy .. ❤❤❤ stay safe love ya
🚂👍🙂💙
Thank you another great vlog i enjoyed watching 👍
😍Awesome and amazing place,Now just imagine this place with all the Fall colours it would be so amazing thanks for sharing this was great 👍💙🚂😉
Heck yea. Will look twice as amazing
I've lived by train tracks pretty much all my life (minus 2 yrs) and always thought seeing 2 trains at one time was pretty cool! But seeing 3 was awesome! 👍
Yea, 3 at once is not so common.
Awesome video liked 🚄🚄👍
Fantastic, 3 trains
That was amazing! Imagine how much freight went by on those three trains. If you really like trains check out the cog railroad up to the top of Mt. Washington. 7 mile ride up a steep mountain. Scenery is unbelievable. Thanks for the view.
I had the opportunity to visit Horseshoe Curve 3 times but never got lucky to see 3 trains at once. The drone footage was really great! FYI, to get that GP9 into position, they severed the rails and swung them over to the display rails. They pulled a K4 steam locomotive out from the display and put the GP9 in. Of course, they then swung the rails back into position. There were 4 rails at one time but Conrail removed one of the lines. PRR once owned 310 GP9s-270 regular units and 40 B (cabless) units. Great video!!
Wow, thanks for sharing that info.
What a beautiful place to watch for trains
And very frequent with train activity
We love these videos. Learning from them, we are going to take Billy's twins (my grandchildren) to some of the sites you show us. Thank you JP for your dedication to history, locations and narratives.
Glad to provide some ideas for future plans. Hope you enjoy the places.
This was an awesome video. I come from a family of railroad workers and engineers, so every time I get to see a train or multiple trains make me feel so happy but also nostalgia.
Those are proud people. Thanks for taking the time to watch.
Your drone footage was breathtaking!! Horseshoe curve just amazing. 3 trains so cool. I know you were in train heaven!! Have I ever mentioned how spectacular your videos are, just amazing!!!🚂🚂🚂🥰
It felt like heaven to me
Ty u for taking us with u I love to watch trains I think they are awesome

No sleeping during my videos haha
Wow that's amazing it so beautiful to
They are massive. Like the longest snake ever. So exciting. What a busy rail. And what a vantage point view. You were so lucky. There is just something romantic and nostalgic about trains. At least to me. Loved this so much. The drone footage was fantastic.
🚂💙🤗
Just got done watching this video while staying in Gallitzin at the summit, waiting for trains to come out of the tunnels. Visited Horseshoe Curve earlier today. Always a treat to make the trip from Philly. Great video, JP.
Awesome
that was a great experience. the right place at the right time. awesome!!
Was certainly worth the trip there. It didnt disappoint.
That was just absolutely COOL!!! Omg and the beautiful mountain scenery made it even more wonderful.👍👍👍👍👍✌
Ahhhh you made it to railroad heaven enjoy my friend😎
👍
That's an incredible spot. The engineering to create that is impressive. Not to mention it looks like they built a car tunnel under one of the mountains. I heard the drone warning it had low battery and l was like l hope Jay gets it down and doesn't lose it in the reservoir.
I pushed it to its limits, but it worked out in the end.
Your photography on this video was awesome as usual !!! You are truly gifted and know how to show nature !!! Seeing 3 trains was so cool !!! Thank you for another exceptional video!!!
Thank you 💙
Beauteous.
I’m SO impressed with your excellent videos! I look forward to each and every one!!
I’ve been to the Horseshoe Curve, but when I was about 16-17! It’s changed some, but you have given us an incredible vantage point! Thank you SO MUCH for this walk through my memories!! Fantastic video!! I remembered the brakes screeching on the locomotives, too!!!
PHENOMENAL video!!!!
Thank you Rebecca
Excellent shots! Can you imagine all of the goods that go through there in one day alone?? And the power to move that stuff is most impressive! (And loud!)
It's impressive
Absolutely fantastic footage and the photography was brilliant. Lovely engines that one never tires of and 3 trains. I want to go back already 😆
Me too linda. I cant wait to go back.
Awesome and beautiful views and 3 trains wow nice!!!!!! thank you for sharing JP!
Lucky catch on my part. Was railroad heaven haha
Now that was some ride lol, three trains at once wow, never seen it before but man what a view. Trains, trees, mountains was just beautiful, it's just kind of hard to hop multiple trains at once lol. Thanks jay for the opportunity to see such beauty from above and below.
Now you can say you witnessed 3 at once
Fantastic drone footage, what a view from up there. All in all an absolutely wonderful video. It's on my bucket list to visit Pennsylvania one day. I am sold on it!
Hope you enjoy it
JP, totally awesome and cool catching 3 trains at once! What absolutely beautiful scenery there! Thank you for taking me along with you! Can't wait for your next train video.

Amazing drone shots beautiful area and amazing video Thankyou so very much for sharing this loved it :)
Thanks
Your drone footage and choice of music are fantastic keep up the great work you inspire me in my videos
Thank you 👍
What an awesome video JP. Perfect timing to be there with that many trains. You were like a kid in a candy store! Love it!
You said it! 😁
FINALLY!!!! This was built by the PA Railroad in the 1870s! Used to be 4 tracks but Conrail removed the 3rd track in the 1990s
So funny. I was just thinking this week wow JP needs to visit horseshoe !
I honestly wish I could remember when I was there, I'm pretty sure early to mid-90's, but the 3d track was already gone by then. I did a quick search but couldn't find a year, yet.
I can't believe how gorgeous it is around there, you've seriously got me wanting to take a vacation up there. That shot of the horseshoe with the train coming around on the left and going around on the right is fantastic.
Make a trip of it and check it out.
Awesome video, marvelous catch. Thank you for the great video.
Guessing you didn't see Jacobs two friends wiggling around. A black snake and a rattler.
No snakes on this day
Always wanted to visit the curve thank you for taking me along jay! Awesome video!!
My pleasure Eileen
Thank you Jp. Horsehoe curve and Bethlehem steel were on my bucket list for this year. However, due to covid I can't cross the border. I certainly appreciate this video.
I have drone footage of Bethlehem Steel, but the walking portion of it was closed.
@@JPVideos81 awesome. I'll have to check it out. I'm a pipefitter and worked in many steel plants. I've never had the opportunity to see a plant that old. The craftsmanship back in the day is unbeatable.
been there done that. what a awesome place to visit. And I for one have to get back there.. again awesome place to visit. I recommend that, and the town below, a must seen
Awesome train footage
🚂💙
Another fantastic video! Awesome view of the trains - great to see two at a time ! The third train was a bonus 😁
Horseshoe curve is definitely on my bucket list !
The drone photos are awesome - thanks for sharing 😁💕
Never expected to see 4 trains in one visit. 3 at once was incredible.
Loved the drone footage with the single train shown all the way around the curve!! And of course, the three trains at the same time was awesome!! I don’t think I’ve ever seen trains that long!! Thank you!! 🚂🚂💖💙💖💙👏👏👏💖💙💖💙💖
Super long ones here. Not like im used to.
What a great video love it
Ty laura
Thank u for the shots of the gp9 on the hill
I was always wondering what it looked like.i would love to see the curve up close
I seen it fro. Route 22 going downhill in my tractor trailers many times.
My pleasure. I have a new video from the backside of the curve coming out soon.
Outstanding work as usual. Nice Conrail shirt by the way.
Thanks 👍
Awesome video JP! Great drone footage as usual!
Thanks!
Jay, once again awsome spectacular footage with the drone. This is another location on my ever growing list of "need to see" places. Thanks for sharing 👊👍✌
For every place i cross off my list, i add 2 more lol
I watched this on my tv and had to instantly come and like it and to comment that this was some amazing drone footage, It was breath taking. I thought you had extra back up power. Thank you JP for what you did get.
Thanks so much for watching
@@JPVideos81 your so very welcome.
@@JPVideos81 what rail scanner did you use jp
Awesome views and 3 trains going by at once! @20:18, that security camera pole looked like one of virtual rail fan’s 24 hour live cams for the horseshoe curve. I sometimes catch one of their live cams installed at fort Madison, Iowa as the BNSF trains crosses the Mississippi.
It's the same one
ty for this
💙🙂
Holy cannoli that's a lotta steps! They have something like that in St. Martin. 🙂
Steparobics
I can't get over how long those trains are. wow. another place that has to be just beautiful in the fall. yes I know, I keep saying that on almost all your videos lol can ya tell I love when the trees turn? you so better be taking us on a color tour. lol
I have a nice driving video lined up to show the colors
Wow!! Each video is better than the last. Amazing footage, JP. This had to be so exciting for you. I wasn't even there, but you made it feel like I was. Your shots were fantastic. Drone or no drone, you captured everything beautifully. Three trains toward the end was the grand finale. I loved the still shots, and I loved the black and white shot. So great that you even met some viewers there. Excellent job, JP. Look forward to more.
Thanks for the awesome comment. I seem to be meeting viewers in the most unexpected places.
Such a fabulous location. We have nothing that even comes close to this in the UK.
Glad you enjoyed it
Many years ago, as a Girl Scout we got to take a train ride from Greensburg (I think) around Horseshoe Curve and back. As a kid, it was scary. lol
Lucky you haha
Definitely on my bucket list to see! Awesome video!!! The scenery here is so amazingly beautiful and the Blue Jay drone footage was incredible!
List keeps growing for ya haha
Been there many times, it never gets old. Nice catch with the Hi-Railer at the end, Amtrak also runs that line twice daily, maybe you will catch it next time you go. Nice video JP.
I caught amtrak in the city, which you'll see in a different video.
Thank you for the video. Man that would have been awesome if you could have got a video of all three trains with your drone. Maybe soon I keep watching!!
Hopefully next time
Omg your drone would have been awesome to capture 3 trains from the air , if only we humans could predict , great job though , and great accompanying music .
Hope to have better luck next time
Yeah my mom and dad and me were there for sugar my mom and dad was great beautiful parents God bless 👱♂️👩🌾
first I wanna let you know you can view horseshoe curves cam live 24\7 on here through virtual railfan so you can get your fill in between your visits here. I loved the video you did a wonderful job, its still a mystery how it snakes through the woods on the left hand side. during late fall and winter when the leaves have fell you can see to a degree the train snake through the beginning\end of the woods as it exits or enters. I'm happy you got here. which brings me to one last note if I remember correctly you talked about going to strasburg railroad in strasburg,pa you can also watch thier live cam via virtual railfan I will tell you they tend to start the train rides just after 11am-3pm each day and the train just after 2pm is the last for the day as they are gone and back over a 45 min combined. but there are special occasions where they run later times. they are doing train rides for halloween and christmas as far as I'm aware and summer and fall is when they run thomas, percy, mavis they done that recently. and all they run is steam here which is awesome and the museum is across the street but I dont know if open or not and also look for cam called paradise that's the other end of the line they go to after leaving strasburg station. p.s ty for the awesome close ups of 7048
Strasburg will most likely have to wait until spring time for me.
JPVideos I totally understand! and ty for replying 🎃
Love the drone footage of the train kinda. Very cool video. But seeing the three trains was awesome you don’t that down in va
First time for myself to witness that.
JPVideos I’m glad you caught them
i love it more than you know
I love the mountains I wish I lived in Pennsylvania I know u are in nc
a 'conrail' t shirt ? lol i always knew you were a foamer at heart .keep up the good work
🤣
Great vid. If you haven't seen it yet, you should come to the inclined plane in Johnstown, Pa. It is one of the steepest vehicular inclined planes in the world.
Yay!!! Glad you finally made it! I was lucky to visit there back in the early to mid-90's with my now ex-wife, not even sure if we were married yet. Btw, it's "funicular" :) I definitely want to go back :)
hehe awesome
Hi JP, the views and drone footage was absolutely breathtaking, there is a lot of history on the different types of rail roads and how they helped shape America. Thank you for another wonderful video.
You are so awesome my friend. I loved the intro by the way. Those drone shots are so awesome showing the train and whole area of the horseshoe curve. I loved that beautiful shot from it and the that lake. It makes it appear that they are close to you from high. Do you by chance have a video when that train was in operation would you. I would very much like to see it if you do. I also seen your t shirt fits the video too. There all kinds of action going on here on those tracks. This has been one exciting and awesome adventure for me. Thanks for sharing this experience.
There might be footage of it out there, but i haven't seen any.
Jay,
I believe that rail to the top is called a Funicular, I was on one in Bergen, Norway in the early 1970's.
Rik
Correct
That's quite a difference in elevation at 14:00
Yeah. Great view of it from there.
