    I think this works because:
    1. Pop has the resumé to back this up
    2. Players understand that this comes from his burning desire to win
    3. Pop is incredibly respectful and courteous to his players off-the-court

    This proves you can have all the coaching ability in the world, but it means nothing without instilling in players the level of discipline necessary. Too many coaches enable bad habits or letting players get away with things. This man doesn’t.
    A coach like Phil Jackson for example had it made always having a Jordan or Kobe Bryant. I think if any other coach other than Pop coached those teams, they don’t bring home 5 titles. There’s a reason why guys like Patti Mills and Danny Green became winners.

    • @gelodude07
      @gelodude07 3 года назад +1

      nah Jordan and Kobe wont buy that equal treatment shit let alone pop's share the ball and not much dribbling.

      I don't think a seasoned Popovich could have handled Rodman correctly. Phil was definitely a better fit. Phil also set Jordan straight sometimes.
      Additionally, the triangle offense took away from Jordan, but made the Bulls better at winning. Phil to the Bulls is as crucial as Pop is to the Spurs.
      The right players with the right coach. Phil taught Jordan to get involved with the team. Jordan did not need help getting motivated or improving himself individually. Duncan is very receptive, which is perfect for Pops.

      I hear you .. but Duncan was the reason Ginobili and Parker became hall of famers... It's not as if they were stars that went to join the Spurs... They were very lowly regarded players... Playing with Duncan made them better, so he should get the brunt of the credit
