Halftime is fun time and the Drum Major, Fabulous Dancing Dolls, and Marching Jaguars delivered. Love Come Down by Evelyn Champagne King was on point. They sounded really nice and showed out on the field and those lines were straight. Herb and the Dolls showed out. Very nice performance ladies!💯👍🏿👏🏿🎷🥁🎺🎼🎵🎶🎹

Does anybody know if the Dolls executed their amazingly famous bougie like, “Stop and then lean back pause”, when they were strutting in after the 6:05 mark? I can’t tell on this video, because the cameraman stopped filming them. I just love it when the Dolls incorporate their amazingly famous bougie like, “Stop and then lean back pause”, movement into their strut in routines. If I’m not mistaken, I believe Gabby started that, during her reign. Can someone please correct me, if I’m incorrect about Gabby being the Doll Captain who started the Dolls bougie like, “Stop and then lean back pause?”

Now it's starting to make sense. I was wondering why there were so many songs not getting played. Please play the Haymer and simmons arrangements in addition to the new stuff. Last year was boring and we can't continue to take L's in the stands. I gave grace thinking it was because is was a mostly new squad and the focus was mainly field shows. The play book was lacking and CANNOT be repeated this year....PERIODT.
B and Haymer arrangements were light years ahead of anything Todd, Kenneth and Taylor could think of. But considering how Taylor back doored Haymer, I doubt if he’d ever play another one of his arrangements, which is pathetic. At least reach back and play Mr. j or Knighten arrangements! Taylor has the “S” sounding exactly like his directing style. Very bland & corny. Shit isn’t going to cut it against JSU

The band sounds good. But i must say I never thought i'd hear Southern with such a weak trumpet section. I personally think a well balanced sounding band would be at least 3 trombones for every b-tone and at least 3 trumpets to every mello. IF the btones and Mellos are good producers. The band sounds good but the trumpets gotta step their game up. If not Jackson trumpets are going to straight murder them.

I'm an old band geek & a grandmother, and I just wanted to commend the young men in this band for looking "proper ", or clean cut. It's rare I see that nowadays. Boys wearing twists, braids & ponytails....these guys look great! Also, nice to see the young ladies with hair pulled back instead of weave waving in the wind. I'm going to be a long distance band booster! Love y'all.
Yea.. 1 thing i can say about the dancing dolls. It's good to see they still dance clean and classy, which imo makes them stand out over most dance teams.. Most dance teams dance soo trashy and vulgar as if they just got rounded up from a strips on the corner of the nearest ghetto. What i call dancing like dogs in heat. I couldn't even bring my niece to watch them perform it soo vulgar.

I'd like to see that, but from what i'm hearing. Jackson's trumpets are going to punish them. In over 20 plus years of listening to Southern, I've never heard them have anything close to as weak of a trumpet section as them. It's unreal.
JSU have at least 55 trumpets, nearly sixty; and that’s the truth.
I'm glad the rest of the games are actually battling the first game & this game isn't a battle. I know su vs jsu will be a full 1st quarter battle & 5th.& I wonder why su doesn't come out of the hole anymore on the field

I'M a bug juke box fan...but they have some issues!!!!
1 Too much middle brass.. makes the arrangements sound muddy and bland and not balanced!!
2 To many tubas again causing an unbalanced sound.
3 Trumpet section NEEDS SOME MILK!!! Pretty much non existent....and that's killing the Brilliance in the arrangements...again creating a flat and muddy sound..
4 I'm beginning to hear individual instruments in some sections and a lot of WRONG notes.😢
5 Arrangements are average at best !!!!!
Southern is my favorite band by long shot and was head and shoulders over everyone else..imma need those beautiful arrangements and professional sound to return😢....Cause right now this ain't it!!!!

I like the Boom also but..when Simmons was at S.U...JSU couldnt do shit with S.U and the reciepts are out there.. Now there were times when the boom was better...but for the most part is been S.U at the top .. their sound and arrangments were FAR SUPERIOR🤷🏿♂️... but that was then and this is now ..... JSUs sound crisp clean and professional probably the best rendition of them Ive seen of the Boom in awhile!!!!

Boy them mellos in there already, by the end of the year I see them being section of the year. Trumpets need to be a bit stronger. They were popping out on some songs but they need to be felt in every song. Overall, great sound from the band, they sound much much better compared to last year. That book will be opened next week 😎.
This week it will open and hopefully then trumpets come out swinging, they was nice at nationals

Why the band directors sitting all the way down there? This is a first. They always sat up more to the middle and to their left giving the dolls more room. The dolls look clustered like hell. The was even trying to get the big brown yeller fellow to slide over but you see where he back sitting.? I seen Dr Issac mini dock and some of his clips of the former jukes back in the day and he had more regard for those ladies. He made them stand out and gave space bra

King 1117s do that to you. Large bore horns, hella restrictive D-shaped main tuning slides. Should've used Conn 52Bs or King 2055Ts with the C shaped tuning slides. Way less restrictive. The conns are still .462 bores, got a bigger bell, like the 1117s but sound a lot better. That's why in the old vids where everyone brought what they had, the dudes who knew how to scream loud as piss usually had less restrictive horns with c shaped main tuning slides.
I think you use to all that loud hangovers, they cleaning that up
But they do need to push out stronger , let’s see what they do this game

I love southern, trust me they sound good, but I’m not liking the tempo of they not like us, and the tubas have to get it together some one was coming in early a lot.
