    Thank you for watching. As always feel free to leave comments and ask questions. I think I've raced Over the Hump around 10 times over the years and I feel like I'm still learning. I also need to thank my sponsors ODI, O'Neal, and Nezium. They have programs out there that may be able to help you too.

      Are you interested in the Race at Gypsum Canyon? I bet there will be more single track and climbing

      @@MTBMOR Hi there! No, I need to work my endurance before taking on this one. Thanks for the video!

    Watching people ahead of you pass you on the return line has got to be the biggest motivation killer there is. 😕

      LOL we all struggle with something during the race. I bonked about 1.5 laps in but was able to recover by the end

    Awesome race… Now I know what it looks like to be hauling butt on this course instead of me slugging along ha ha ha

      That is funny. Then, there are the elite racers that blow by us like we are on a warm-up :)

    Hey I liked the footage. Looked like you were doing a nice job keeping up. How did you finish? 3rd?

      Thank you. I think I was 6th? One guy chased the eventual winner early and I never caught him and another stayed out front a bit. The guy I was behind most of the time left me after the forward facing camera died and ended up 2nd. I was overtaken towards the end of lap 2 and just couldn't regain my spot. I think 3rd-6th were within 20 seconds. raceoc.com has past results.

    Is your gear bike, shoes etc. different for doing this kind of race compared to other types of riding?

    • @MTBMOR
      @MTBMOR  6 месяцев назад

      Yes it is. I'm racing on A Canyon Trail Lux. It's one small step away from a cross country bike and weighs less than 27 pounds. Today I rode my Fezzarri La Sal Peak that weighs over 33 pounds. The Canyon could have survived the trails I rode today but I would have been way slower. I once raced Over The Hump on a trail bike ( Giant Trance X ) and I really struggled. As for shoes, I have bad knees so I usually ride flat, but for racing I ride clipless. I'm open to chat more if there is something more specific you want to know.

      @@MTBMORthank you brother I just switched from running shoes to flat about 6 months ago. I thought about doing a cross country race but am not sure if my Rocky Mountain Instinct with flat pedals would be sufficient for a race like that.....

      @@svensvrgen6336 I just looked it up and it's a big bike for that race. You'd make the race feel much longer than it really is but racing is about you vs you. You could do the xc at Southridge on it and be fine.
