I have a JVC RX-315 Compu Link 2 channel Stereo receiver rated at 105 Watts per channel at 8 ohms with .002% Total Harmonic Distortion. And yes she's a heavy duty one from back in the 80's. I really enjoy it. It currently acts as my amp for both my laptop and Xbox 360. I currently have two pairs of speakers hooked up one being a set of Bose Acoustimass 3 series 2's and a set of Infinity SL's that I picked up at a yard sale for $4. The Acoustimass 3's I found on Ebay for $85 and I've been really happy. I've always wanted Bose since I was a young man and now that I'm older that dream has come true I'd say you scored a good one with the Sansui. I only paid $50 for my setup. It came with a 6 Disc CD Changer and a dual well cassette deck, both of which I gave to someone who had a use for them and I ended up keeping the receiver. She's given me years of service without issue and I'm looking forward to many more.
I have not owned this unit for a few years now. I think it was an epic monster receiver of the 80's that doesn't get it's just credit as such. Clean sound and if you wanted it to move the cones on your speakers, it would without question. I have looked at the specs of modern Amps, like the Pioneer Elite series and their THD % is nothing compared to this receiver. THD% is efficiency and this was among the giants.
@@WaybackTECH I own this receiver now and can confirm that it sounds fantastic. Soundstage is deep and wide and it needs very good speakers to reward you with its full potential. The S-X1130 tends to have problems with burnt-out lights in the vacuum-fluorescent display. I wonder if they could be fixed. The display itself looks very classy in the best 80's ways. Back then only the high-end audio gear had this fresh new (for that time) digital look and layout. The volume knob feels smooth, solid and luxurious, another big plus in my book. I appreciate your videos of the S-X1130 as they are a rare record of this often ignored model. FYI, this is not a rare receiver, as I initially thought, but it's a definite sleeper.

I owned one of these back in the late 80’s. They sound fantastic when operating correctly.

Good video. Would love to see a follow-up with your opinion on the sound. Specs are impressive but how does it sound 35 years later? Thanks!

Turns out you probably got one hell of a deal. Personally, I'm not a big fan of the eighties 'look' but it probably sounds good.

There could be a bad solder joint. But if the IC is fried, it could be hard to find.
Have two of these
