3 Sad Truths About NIMONA Based On Reality

- 3 sad truths about Nimona based on reality. No. 1, one of Nimona’s hater, Todd, was seen paying his respects at her memorial. This is a sad truth in reality, as it speaks to how people are often too late to become allies to queer people, not recognizing their value while they’re still alive. No. 2, the fact that Nimona did not feel any pain when an arrow was pulled out from her leg shows that she’s been through a lot in her life. In reality, this is similar to how someone might not be able to cry at a funeral because they feel overwhelmed by so many emotions. And no. 3, the fact that Ambrosius chose to keep his problem to himself rather than letting it out to the Director shows that it’s often better to be safe than sorry. In the workplace reality, honesty is not always the best policy.

not crying at a funeral doesn't always mean they're overwhelmed they might just not deal with the issue by crying.
Exactly
Or they just can't cry anymore
Yeah, I didn't cry at my Dad's funeral
He didn't say that was the only reason someone might not cry at a funeral
@@brunopagnoncelli975I don't think that's possible

It was in owl house
@@lilithfranco2902 ?? It's from the movie??
I agree with Ambrosius and nimona on that
@@chilllisteneryou didn't get the joke lol

nimona felt pain when the arrow was pulled out her leg as she said she just felt worse before
Yeah it shows that eventually people do become numbed to the ridicule they are constantly met with...it still hurts but they've grown accustomed to it and usually refuse to express the pain they feel
No, she said she’s been through worse.

Here's my theory about the director and goldenloin:
The director had a really strong ideal about gloreth and possibly wanted ambrosius on her side, given he is a direct descendant of gloreth.
She purposefully chose to make ambrosius the captain for hunting down ballister, so that with the arrest of his own lover, ambrosius will start putting his ideals, in this case the director's ideals, before everything.
And when ambrosius(Nimona disguised as ambrosius) confronted the director, the director knew that plan A of getting ambrosius on her side was no longer viable, hence she chose plan B. To kill him.
Worst thing: she used ballister's sword to kill ambrosius, possibly in an effort to make a story on how ballister killed his own lover, and is absolutely evil. It's highly likely everyone knew about ballister and ambrosius's relationship, given how publicly they hold hands and how everyone blamed ambrosius when ballister broke out of prison
100/10 on characters of this movie. Just wish there were more of them
This actually makes a lot of sense. More sense then then the others ive seen. I think other people knew about there relationship too. They were holding hands publicly like you said. I was also thinking what if nimona came to late and instead of it being nimona as ambrosius its the actually ambrosius and ballister thought it was nimona. But although i agree with you.
Bro has a whole a$$ theory
No, Ambrosius volunteered to lead the hunt, because Thoddeus (dude with a punchable face aka Bal's bully) was being overzealous and making him scared for Bal's safety.
@@catthemeg336yes!! This!! Ambrosious was protecting Ballister because he knew at least he wouldn't hurt Bal!! The Director agreed though, cause shes a sneaky beach with her own motives! I love this movie so much!! 🥰🥰🥰
This movie was the perfect analysis and criticism of mainstream religions; the Director was a perfect example of a power-hungry religious zealot, the Institute perfectly reflected the corruption of religious institutions, and it shows the effectiveness of scapegoating in mainstream religions.
It's not JUST queer's that people are late to become allies with. It's everyone, that should be a message for EVERYONE that you should accept everyone for who they are
yes but nimonas story is an allegory for specifically trans people so the storys message is about being allies to specifically queer people
Yup, but imo its more about how people are only noticed after their death. You may have no friends but when you die suddenly everyone shows up at your funeral
@@eddyangstman how ???
@@ceciliakerr5422if I remember correctly, Nimona’s story is heavily implied to be a trans allegory on the struggles of trans folk survival and trans love (Nimona’s shapeshifting abilities connecting with genderfluidity and people hating her for that because its “monstrous” and “not normal”), but i dont remember Stevenson ever confirming that themself, so the fandom deemed it as one because they resonated with it
Again, I dont know if Stevenson ever confirmed that themself, but if anyone has something to add on its fine 👍
True, however this story is specifically an allegory for the struggles of queer people.
" CUTTING OFF HIS ARM ISN'T LOVE LANGUAGE IS IT ISSS ITT- "
also Goldenloin :
" I'm fine.. "
THAT WAS THE ONE OF THE BEST MOMENTS AT MOVIE!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
*CHOPPING ARM IS NOT A LOVE LANGUA-*
Lmao I died on that part
4th sad truth Nimona is a shapeshifter was she hiding her past injuries and scars
Oh. Is that what that was? I kinda thought it was the injuries she sustained from walking to gloreths statue, but that makes more sense.
@@CandyBug9627 it’s only theory but I feel if you can shapeshift why wear the makeup or things that covers up
@@CandyBug9627 yeahi think it was just from her walking to gloreths statue to. also she heals fast so i dont think this is true
Also nimona : was alive for 1000 years and could possibley heal by then?
I'm pretty sure those wounds were from her walk to the statue. Having wounds over the years would heal, especially a 1000 years. I think Nimona was only really capable of being wounded when in her unleashed form because she literally got stabbed through the gut and she stopped a saw blade by resting her arm on it, not feeling a single thing or taking any damages. The arrow was likely stuck in her because she was in the form of a child when it got in
The thing I love about the arrow in the leg scene is that if you pay close attention to how Nimona looks and acts, it’s very telling that this is the first time in a long time that someone has cared enough about her, helped her, genuinely concerned for her well-being and if she was in pain. Especially at the beginning when she’s like “oh it’s no big deal, it’ll fall out on it’s own” while Bal is pushing her to sit down so he can take care of the wound. And then the small, tiny nods she gives him, and I mean *small* I had to rewatch that scene several times to catch them, where Bal is about to pull out the arrow and asking if she’s okay. Those tiny movements make me think that she’s scared of showing too much emotion bc when she did it the past she scared people away. And she’s also scared bc she’s in a vulnerable position since she’s injured, a natural instinct in all people that is hard to overcome, and what if Bal decides to end her there? Now that they have the squire, Bal may not need her anymore. Idk I have so many feels over this movie, it’s become one of my favorites!!!!😭❤️
Another cool little detail is when Nimona shifted into a Phoenix to take down the wall / tank. A Phoenix represents rebirth, and you often hear the phrase of how a Phoenix rises from the ashes. The little pink sparkles that appeared when Balistor went looking for her after defeating the director signifies her ashes, and they reappear again when she once again arrives at Balistor's "Evil Lair". Also, as a Phoenix is a representation of rebirth, it shows how the realm is being rebirthed into a new era and how it is reborn but this time much more open and accepting. It also shows how Nimona is reborn in people's minds as not a monster, but a hero! Very awesome little detail 🥰
"And the we RISE LIKE A FIREY PHOENIX FROM THE ASHES TO OVER-TROW THE GOVERMENT *Inhale*
-Nimona
You missed how nimona almost committed suicide
Fun fact: their were so many real world issues in this issue some examples were- Nimona thinking of committing suicide, the common folk night getting framed and getting blamed, cancel culture, social media lies, power manipulation and even emotional switching to be liked more.
😢 Nimonaaa I was crying my eyes out when she died
She came back at the end because she turned into a phoenix when she went towards the laser and phoenixes are know to rebirth
Same lol
Idk why but in the 2nd one I want them to let bal finish swearing 😏 I mean it won't technically be swearing if he just says it
@@funnytentgacha5214Shit is a curse word. But it can still be said in pg movies
Nimona did make me get emotional, felt for the character. Especially towards the end of the film, sacrificing itself for the entire city whom despised and rejected Nimona.
the last one is wrong. I'm pretty sure it's supposed to represent when people who are depressed, suicidal thoughts, eating disorders, etc. get asked "are you okay?" despite most of them wanting to reach out for help, they usually say "i'm fine." We can assume abrocious was going through depression since the love of his life was accused of murdering the leader of his kingdom, the queen, and was on the run from the guards. Not to mention he has no way of knowing if he's okay or not. For all he knows, the love of his life could be out starving and slowly dying
Man kind of disappointed by this comment section. Like look my friends I am VERY happy other minority groups are feeling seen through nimona I’m happy you feel seen as for example nuro divergent etc I understand how it feels to lack true representation and how you want to create personal headcannons and I AM SO FOR THAT if a story resonates with you imagine whatever you fancy but please kindly stop bugging people who point out the actual cannon and saying things like ooooohhh we don’t knowwww that it’s a queer character. The creator has outright stated that she is. We don’t have much representation, and I’m fine with acknowledging the intersectional nature of our status as minority groups also bonus point she can be both lol but please stop discrediting our representation all together kinda hurts to see in fighting between minority groups we are stronger together any way ik it doesn’t matter it’s a movie it has no effect on reality so my point is well pointless but I just wanted to share my piece oh and to all the people who are saying she’s not queer cause the idea of a queer character existing makes you mad. Heh stay mad ya big baby 🤣
THANK YOU. It’s hurtful to see everyone writing off the fact that this movie is an allegory for queer suffering.
You also forgot the reason that Gloreth, despite spending time with Nimona, is quick to turn on her because Gloreth was an impressionable child who still relies and trusts her parents. Her misunderstanding the situation as Nimona burning down her village instead of an accident that led to the village burning certainly didnt help
Ambrosia keeping his true feelings bottled up was the best scene.
Someone told me this once
"They only care when your gone."
You never truly appreciate someone until they're gone.
One of my personal favourite characters
She carried the inter movie hands down
The first time I watched it I thought ambro just said all of it and then cut back to his calm self but then I realized the director looked slightly happy when he said "I'm fine." EVEN THO ANY SANE PERSON WOULD KNOW THAT CUTTING OFF AND ARM IS NOT LOVE LANGUAGE
Nimona was SUCH a good movie
Also, The Director has a shitload of similarities to Dom Claude Frollo from The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
Not just queer people... literally anybody whose been bullied or otherwise ostracized for any reason. There's a reason why every time someone commits suicide, the rest of society, including those closest to the individual are aways like, "I don't understand... they were such a good kid, how could this happen?... why didn't they say anything?"
“ARM CHOPPING IS NOT A LOVE LANGUAGE”!
Owl house: am I a joke to you?
Raine be like:👁👄👁
I watch it and I cry I felt this when I was in highschool they always avoid me when I'm making an approach to a person or making a topic. I felt different but I made 5 friends the same as me and now I'm an adult now all my friends are gone they say the more you age the more you lose friends or avoid toxic ones.
It's not specifically for queer people when saying "too late beoming allies". It's towards all people.
It was made specifically for queer people but anyone can relate to it
Nimona is a masterpiece 💖 all these emotions in one movie is awsome 😭😢
My father does not cry at funerals not because of overwhelming emotions but because he thinks that they were in pain and they are now free from that pain he thinks of the good things so he does not cry
Something extra I wanna add, is that everyone sees Nimona as a monster, that wants to kill everyone and destroy the world, but once you see what really happened, who is the real monster here?
Since 1940 or 1930, monster movies made the monsters look like entities that aren't really evil, and showed a more sympathetic and kind off nice part in them that made us love and respect them, like Frankenstein, and Kong made the same thing, showing that the big gorilla only wanted love of that girl, and this is better showed in the Peter Jackson's remake version, even making the women show actual care for our classic King Kong.
Godzilla from 1954 also says a lot of the U.S. cause Godzilla lost his family when they tested the nuclear bombs, making him mad and wanting too take revenge, destroying Tokyo on its way, making him look threatening and scary, but when you think of it, you ask yourself, was he really evil, or did we made him evil?
That's something I really like of the movie as well, showing a dark part of humans, that everything that looks bad, has to be killed, but no one ever asks, why is he or she evil? What did he or she deserve too become this? Or the most important one...
*Is it he or she, really a monster?*
One time when I was a kid and I was moved fo a new school my parents told me that my teacher from my old school had passed. I was so sad, but I couldn't cry...I still miss her a lot though.❤❤❤
How does Nimona being queer matter in the first one 💀💀
Idk, it's silly.
It doesn't they just had to point out that she was queer for no reason
Its emplied in the movie like how its similar to real life
Because she's a metaphor for trans people committing suicide
@@Plankoblanko it really isnt tbh but ok
wow these are amazing moments
She’s been through 1,000 years of emotional and physical pain so it makes sense
I haven’t cried since the third grade I have been through so much five different funerals people. I loved so much just gone bullied all my life beaten up thrown out. Yeah, I know the feeling

Nah in my eyes: Todd died with the queen. The one near the funeral is a ghost.
Not to mention Nimoma literally tried to unalive herself at the end and the sacrificed themself
True because I never cried at funerals and the only time I had was when my great uncle passed at 98 I was 10. I didn’t experience so many emotions at that time but everything changed when my dad started verbally and physically abusing my mother when I was 12. I was feeling afraid I was going to lose her at a young age and I was sad because I also thought why would this happen to me? So from then on I’ve always felt those two emotions all at once.
I felt so emotional for some reason when Tod was at the memorial!😢
Nimona is also 1000 years old after that much time pain just won't effect you as much anymore
When I was 15 during the science fair at my school someone did a project involving a step up power transformer. Most people would let out a shout and let go after the first shock. When a student suggested I try I was shocked numerous times and it didn't elicit the same response. I simply took all of them as those shocks where not as bad as what I was going through and had been. When I saw that arrow scene and the response it must have been a well researched scene before it was created and narrated.
Please read the graphic novel version, it’s amazing! They left out so much in the animation! (Both versions are great, not hate to the animated movie, but i promise that you'll love the book. Also please don’t judge me but I’ve been copy pasting this message in multiple comment sections to spread awareness about the graphic novel.)
For anyone wondering the book has the same name as the movie. “Nimona” is written and illustrated by Noelle Stevenson.
the scene where Ambrosius didn’t let it out legit made me cry, too relatable for me-
Ambrosius

@@August.dragons3 You’re welcome!
Yep it's why we can all relate to it
As pointed out in the video, Nimona is seen as unable to feel pain. However, when they were betrayed by Gloreth we see them getting hurt (maybe just bc they were younger but hear me out), when they saw Ballister in trouble and was electrocuted when they went to help him and also when they were in their ‘monster’ form. Personally, I believe that this is representative of how when they were injured but didn’t feel pain, it’s because they were emotionally guarded. The times we see them getting hurt are the times that they are emotionally vulnerable.
The first one and the last one actually important in these days life.
I literally cried that was so sad like literally 😩😩
Me and my little brother put a nickname to Ambrosius
"The guy that can send you to the backrooms"
Nimona: “I don’t know what’s scarier.. the fact that everyone in this kingdom wants to run a sword through my heart.. at that sometimes.. I just want to let them..”
I CRIED SO MANY TIMES WHILE WATCHING NIMONA 😭
I also don't care about pain even though I can still feel it because of the amount of pain I've experienced Even though I'm 14 and I've stopped caring about death
For me the saddest part is when Nimona tired into a monster and almost let the statue kill her
I’m not surprised he said honesty is not always the best policy mostly because that honestly reminds me of that one episode of my little pony when reality for some reason why did Apple Jack to give her opinion on clothes even though she is a FARM pony
FIRST. Great vid!
"its not that Im not able to cry because im so overwhelmed by emotions. its because i cried so much and was so broken i got used to being broken."
- me
Same here
Never know you love her till you let her go
The second one is true but just saying, in the GN (graphic novel) or comic, Nimona pulls out the arrow from her leg thinking she wouldn't feel it, but ballistic warned her. She pulled it out and kept saying "ow" and was bleeding out a lot.
Ok...not to take away from the video, but how are you gonna show spoilers, for a different movie!
I know what it’s like to be different and seen as a monster….
I guess I feel like this movie spoke to me back in Elementary school it felt like the whole world was against me, I didn’t know I had Asperger’s at the time trying to fit in never worked only three people got to know me for me not by the rumors one student had spread( my main bully) even some of the teachers didn’t like me much it was scarier during recess being shoved, poked, ect when the aides had their backs turned.
Some misinformation got spread on autism through Facebook recently adults acting as though autism a long with Asperger’s should be cured, I just think it’s disgusting that others want someone to change just so they’d fit in instead of embracing their own uniqueness.
I flipping feel the second one, I really don't have the ability to cry over a death anymore due to problems in my life and that I've just lost so many I've loved but yeah, the first one I get. People are way too late to recognize my problems.
I think the saddest truth was how quickly, suddenly, and harmful was the Gloriath change of mind after everyone turned against Nimona, from being her best and only true friend to an enemy that later would be celebrated for ages and ages as a truly hypocrite heroine
Nimona came back!well, according to me,nimona never had a start, she will never have an end...
So uuuuh. I cry at a lot of things. But strangely, I didn’t cry during titanic. I don’t know why. Maybe I was two distracted by the fact that they both could’ve fit on that door, or if they didn’t really connect with me a lot.

I have criticisms on these perspectives:
No.1 Not only at queer people. But people of disability and special needs are also targeted to one of the groups to be naturally mistreated by society. All of these minorities who are just groups of people being people-- trying to survive within a world that doesn't recognize them as one, are also suffering from major standards (Being straight, have a family, a full-time job, healthy, completely normal-looking, physically and mentally fit. The rest are considered to be shunned.) Hence, they only pity the minorities because they only got to see their vulnerability when it's being shown to them.
No. 2 Nimona probably just got used to it as she had been attacked a lot during the medieval times. People who don't want to show emotions or literally just can't, may have contained traumas and they were never open to be vulnerable to others. Sometimes we just don't know how to appropriately react to anything, and sometimes we lost emotions.
No. 3 This one is actually true. What hits more is that sometimes we just can't trust people at our workplace who can take advantage of you or they just don't really care about your thoughts at all because it doesn't even matter to them either way.
If you want allies, don't insult 'em.
Not me being a fan of eddsworld and Matt cald Tord Todd and i was thinking that, that guy is Tord 💀
I don't know how what emotions to have and when so ill cry at wrong times or just won't have any emotions
She said she felt pain, but she’s been through worse.
Arm chopping is SO not a love language! 4th since Nimona is a shape shifter she hid her scars, 5th before goldenloin and balister, Nimona and gloreth where the best of friends but fear tore the 2 apart. Nimona found her new family, w/ balister, golden loin, and probably Todd
This last is funniest🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Actually, Nimona did not die at the end. She actually survived but we just didn’t see her. We know this because just before the credits Nimona says “Hey boss” at the end.
I was crying when I saw the movie 😢
“3 sad truths” it doesn’t have to be this way.
Theres reasons some of us don’t allow ourselves to cry

2. ISNT RIGHT SHES FEELS THE PAIN BUT SHES BEEEN THROUGH WORSE STUFF SO ITS KINDZ TRUE, IT SAYS SHES FEELS THE PAIN IN THE MOVIE
#2, there is a symptom that the person can't feel pain at all. Just don't know what it's called. It's not because of life because you'll still feel pain no matter what. 😂

I think the reason why Todd is there has nothing to do with queer characters. It has everything to do with the people you’ll miss after they’re gone in the pain that they suffer you don’t understand.
Cause Todd hated Nimona simply because she was a monster in his eyes
That’s how most people who suffer from suicidal feelings feel
