Between New Zealand and Hawaii is like a 24 hours time difference, so when New Zealand starts Wednesday, after 24 hours, Wednesday ends in New Zealand, but it's just starting in Hawaii, so Wednesday still has 24 hours to 'live', therefore, a Wednesday on Earth lasts approximately 48 hours.
