At 1:35 headed "Emerald Hours" is the Exchange area in downtown Dunedin. The large monument in centre-right is actually a water fountain and it had cast iron cups that were chained back to the fountain. You could take a drink of very cold water there from the communal cups. It remined me very much of a similar water fountain in Woodville Park, Belfast when we arrived in Dunedin is mid 1950's.

At 4:03 - Chief Post Office Dunedin. An interesting story - Old man Fletcher (I think he was Jimmy ) tendered for this project and deliberately under priced it in order to secure the project - at that state Fletchers was an unknown contractor. After being awarded the project he approached the Principal and advised that he was going bankrupt, BUT, if the Principal supported him he wold complete the project. Whatever negotiations that took place, I don't know but I know that from that contract Fletchers established themselves to become arguably NZ's biggest Construction company. I started my working career just "over the road" from the Chief Post Office.

At 2:19 there is a "Comfort Station". Many of the public toilets were controlled by a machine which required spending a penny. There was a saying - as useless as a bent penny; the implications of that relating to the toilets.

At 4.07 we are shown a view of a United Airlines plane flying over Dunedin... but the pic shows the plane flying above the town... so who/what was flying above the plane to take the pic ?
