04:40 - congratulations you just discovered one of the most horrible things about macOS: Apple REFUSES to implement a way to natively access android storage. It's literally on purpose, not even joking.
Edit: Apple specifically refuses to support the MTP protocol which is what android and many other devices (like cameras/DSLRs) use. This problem goes way beyond Android, and it's 100% Apple's fault. Next time you have to take the SD card out of your DSLR camera because your mac can't read the camera via USB, thank Apple. Anti-consumer company.
They want people to only use apple products
Well, it's kind of on purpose, in fact, Apple just doesn't support the MTP protocol which is not an android exclusive. In earlier versions of android there was an ability to mount phone as usb flash drive but it was removed unfortunately.
just like how they had the tech to add facetime to android but decided to not add it and like how they just added rcs to ios after years

Transfer files between Android and Windows:
1. Cable.
Just plug in, tap allow on phone, then the whole directory is accessible from computer file manager.
2. Wireless.
Install Quick Share on Windows, log in with the same Google account.
Tap share when opening a file, choose Quick Share, choose the target device.
If you used to Air Drop, it works very similarly.

I think the issue with technology nowadays is that as long as you don't specifically follow the new trends on purpose, an ordinary user doesn't know about a ton of features. I mean the average person who doesn't work in IT and who doesn't have geeky family and friends. I wonder how many features that would be useful for me I have no idea about.

17:15 - Yes, it is. It's called private spaces on Pixels and works natively. Please please please stop asking AI to answer things for you (or at least then stop putting that misinformation into the video) as your content is then just AI slop nonsense. Again also with the screen sharing where you follow a dumb rabbit hole AI sent you down instead of looking at, say, the Pixel help materials and seeing how to do it.
in all fairness though, Gemini is Google's own product. You'd expect it to be able to answer questions correctly, seems like an incredibly low bar
But then again, I use Assistant because of how shit Gemini is
this, thanks for verbalizing my emotions
Private Space (or Work Profile) on Android is not the same as requiring a code to launch a selected app. It strictly separates apps, data, accounts from the main profile.

Looks like you're the stupid one
Dude there were so many points in the video where I was like the answer is obvious and like Phone link can let you mirror your android screen you just need a little patience and agree to Microsoft with your data. But I guess this was obvious with an android and windows baby/life-time user (used Iphone once felt terrible and came back) may not be so obvious for other people
For those curious, the camera wants access to your location so it can add it to the metadata of the picture, that way apps like Google photos can show you where the picture was taken, it's also a neat way to find the pictures of your vacation to wherever instead of having to remember the year you were there and scrolling through possibly hundreds of pictures from that year only to recall it was the year before you went there. This data is also the first thing you want to strip when sharing it online or with strangers in general as you could possibly give away your home location.
social media that uses any compression or has basic security usually strips metadata by itself. At least in whatsapps and discords case iirc
If you want to be sure and manually strip location and other metadata from images before sharing I recommend 'Scrambled Exif' a simple open source tool for doing this on android
Any competent social media platform or website that allows media uploads would strip location data, or possibly all exif metadata, unless explicitly stated otherwise by design. If you're not active in some obscure forum, you probably don't need to worry too much. Still, it's good practice to strip it yourself.

Hey Bog, you did everything the hard way!
In Windows, you can directly connect the phone to the PC and you can acces all files.

The same actually for the MTP problem he was having as well. To us familiar with android it feels obvious that he shoulda swiped down from the top to open the notification shade and tap the USB connection notification to change it to File Transfer/MTP. But the UI/UX wasn't really helping guide him to be able to do that.

True! What this guy said!
Photos app show you all your photos
The file apps shows your photos and oter files like downloads and documents
The file app is basically a file explorer
The photo app is a gallery app
16:37 that should work, turn the setting on , place the pixel your desk screen first. Than place your iphone and it ahould wireless charge it
Compatible phone basically means any phone that supports wireless charging
i don't get why he is confused here... its literally a files and photos app on iphone
To answer you what you did differently at 23:17:
1. You opened the terminal window before installing adb
2. You tried to run the command but it didn't work.
3. You installed adb but did not open a new terminal. This means that the terminal is still the same as before, ie without adb in the PATH. After installing something on windows you always need to open a new terminal.
4. => Now you opened a new terminal which is why it works now.

The mirroring part was made overly complicated. Normally, if Phone Link is set up properly, it should allow all the thing you used KDE for, native clipboard access, file transfer, screen mirroring. The only thing it should restrict is the calls which do require BT
I was looking for a person recommending Phone Link. Sometimes it can get a lil buggy but when it works, it is glorious.
@@ellislambo yeah., Phone Link is good...
Was good until it got blocked in Russia, I just recently got a phone and set it up, it worked just because I was connected to the VPN, once I disconnected it doesn't work anymore
Not Phone Link's problem, it's just Russia is blocking Discord, RUclips and a lot of things for fun
You can do screen mirroring with KDE?
Availability of phone link features differs between phones. Last time I checked screen mirroring is available with e.g. Samsung or OnePlus but not Google Pixel phones.
I love scrcpy so much, because it has a heck of a lot more options than most android screen mirroring software, they're just hidden in cli arguments (unless you use a gui version).
this was painful to watch. you didnt use the phone at all and did the most obscene tasks not showing anything this has to offer instead expecting it to be IOS
0:30 it's not "THE" android, it's "A ANDROID". android os comes in many more powerful devices. Small thing but worth pointing out.
An Android*🤓🤓🤓🤓☝️
@CommentSectionOffender You stole my comment.
@@Vegeta_ble441 how can I steal something that doesn't exist?
@CommentSectionOffender its like saying you took the words right out of my mouth
It's actually technically THE Android. Google Pixel Phones only run Android. Other phones actually have a reskined OS on top of the running Android that adds more features and stuff
17:08 Use private space, and also stop relying on AI ... they are years behind... :)
bro welcome to Android's World , where freedom is all yours , you can enjoy a unique experience where your phone is completely yours and you can customize it the way you want , you're missing a lot bro , as you said you've touched just the tip of the iceberg 🤓
16:58 You can 'hide' apps using the Private Space feature. It does more than hiding it though.
26:00 The timer will show up larger if you enable 'At a glance' again.
I switched from a iphone 11 to Pixel 8 pro when it came out, was a lil annoying to switch but after a year I am NEVER going back
hey welcome to the android world. :) i hope you enjoy your time here
changed from an iphone X to a pixel 8 pro earlier this year too :D
@@s4yto how do you like it?

16:44 its actually very compatible google has an ad were they charge an iphone with that feature but its very slow charging tho
I never thought I'd ever hear "Okay Siri wins this one" for anything.
Yeah, I like gemini but the thing with having two apps (tasks and keep) that could easily be combined in one is a bit confusing, and I say this as a guy who has used Android his entire life.
12:06 dude the play button is right there 😭
I know, what the hell is wrong with this guy?
The image is just a thumbnail of the video, and the play button just controls the playback on your computer. KDE Connect doesn't yet support continuing video playback on your phone.
@@MVpatriotX That's not how the app works, now wth is wrong with you? xD
I mean if he wants to resume the video he can just go to his yt history and resume it from there...should take the same amount of clicks too
lol it only resumes the video on pc as he showed
I don't know why I was actually expecting a soothing melody.
8:25 some notifications are persistent because they're controls for apps or they are notifying you of something you can get rid of, you can turn them silent by long pressing them to remove them from your action bar and lock screen
i use a samsung and to transfer files via usb you can use it normally and go to the quick control panel on top, where a usb option appears. you can select "only charge", "share pictures", "share files / android auto" and the third option allows you to see your files. I dont recommend using usb debugging because if you plug in something unsafe into your phone it will have full access. the pixel launcher is also a very different thing than on most phones. you should def try samsung oneui, im using oneui6 because ui7 is not a finished product and i think it's really fine. happy you enjoyed your android experience.
this, as an android user for the last 15+ years this was a hard one to watch
as for having usb debugging enabled, yes it can be a security risk but only if you explicitly allow it via the popup when you plug into a device, and it's really obvious when you plug into e.g. a charging bank and it says "do you want to trust this computer" lol
2:18 in this case specifically, it's because the wallpaper setting is there by holding your finger on the wallpaper you can access it.
The settings path is the 2nd way you access it.
20:28 How did you forget Scrcpy? You recommended it in The Windows App Iceberg video
Probably because he looks things up, regurgitates the information, then immediately forgets about it.
well this was more of a "using kde connect" then android, also my man, give kde connect the permissions it needs pleaseee
this was the equivalent of driving your car with the hand brake engaged lol
the laugh after the ringtone was hilarious X'D!!!
5:20 you could always choose your browsers since the dawn of time on android. Also its not reskinned chrome if you choose to use Firefox. You get what you exactly want here.
On iOS, apps have to use WebKit, not Chrome - but the rendering engine is not very important for the browsing experience, so it doesn’t really matter.
That said, I would like more choice on iOS anyway.
@@cake_111It is VERY important for the browsing experience. Not being forced to use webkit, means that Firefox can use its own engine and allow add-ons to be installed. Like eg adblocker and many more.
@@cake_111ah i was talking about android browsers, ios is basically just reskinned safari for everything. Like you said every browser needs to use webkit. Android you either get chromium based or firefox based browsers but it uses the proper engine.
You gotta wait for material 3 expressive. Also you can turn off at a glance by changing launchers.
Or he could join the QPR1 beta 😉
Homescreen and lockscreen customizaion on the stock PixelUI launcher is just so bad. Even OneUI now has options like hiding the app label, more grid options, changing the icons size, large folders and stacking widgets.

Are you planning on doing updated reviews after like a month or so on things you test? For example, Zen browser, Raycast or Android
20:00 bro just click on the little phone in the left corner, then you can screen cast without usb its so easy bro
21:51 bro is scared to show his local ip lmaoooo
It's okay, he's not technical person. Better that way honestly
@@HexNull And also the new ipv6 addresses aren't local.
Bruh your reactions were everything …this was recommended and wasnt disappointed at all 😊
The best way i can describe android is that EVERY single ui and element you see is practically its own app, which you can change and customize (asides from things for the os itself) to your heart's content
2:05, I think the reasoning behind this is once you back out of the recording setup, you are generally done using it.
The notification / quick actions bar are for general purpose quick actions. Once you perform your action, your action is done. Why stick around?
The thumbnail is so simple but appealing.
An option you will enjoy a lot: Inside the developer options, that you needed to enable USB debugging, there is one called "animations speed". This lets you change the animation speed (duh) or completly switch them off. Makes your phone feel way more quickly and responsive, especially usefull when you have an older device, makes it feel quick and snappy again :D
I can finally feel all those people from Linux and open source programs seeing Bog doing everything roundabout way. I love that XD
God I love it when an iPhone user tries Android and ends up doing everything in ways way more complicated than necessary. Solid video though lol.
What does that say about android tho? :)
17:21 the A.I. summary led you astray, on the Google Pixel at least, the native app for screen time is called "Digital wellbeing" ... it should be on your phone natively
The A.I. literally told him to look for Digital Wellbeing in the settings...+
I love how you early on sarcastically mocked the "very customisable" thing in the Pixel launcher, only for the last thing to really show you what Android is capable of. The base customisability depends entirely on the phone brand (with Pixels being at the very bottom since they run close to stock Android). But atop of all of that, you can use apps to really customise. I remember back in the KitkKat to Marshmallow days how if you wanted a custom lock screen, you could download an app for it.
And then let those apps drain your battery because they had to be running 24x7 on background. fun times lol
I am just begging for him to find out about KLWP.
His Home Screen will be glorious.
I love your experience with using ADB, it's an absolute pain in the butt sometimes as it doesn't pick up the device but 98% of the time it's flawless.
2:17 I think you just hold your finger for a long time when swiping "back". I don't know about the Pixel 9, but on my Android device, a long finger hold sends you to the home screen, and a quick swipe makes a back gesture.
By the way, it's surprising that you thought the "back" function in Android was bad. Because compared to iOS... I mean, iOS basically doesn't have a "back" gesture, if the developer of some app forgot about it, and very often this gesture throws you straight to the home screen. There's chaos in terms of navigation 😅
This was in the ltt "switch to android"-Video as well. they were confused by the back gesture. And I'm sitting here, just switched to ios, and miss the "simple and everywhere it's the same"-backgesture from android so much. on ios sometimes it's the leftswipe gesture, sometimes you swipe down, sometimes there's a button on the topleft, sometimes it's on the topright tough. Even within the same app.
i have a pixel 9, the back gesture is always just "back" regardless of how long you hold your finger, in case you were curious!
@@DeerJerky I wonder then why it works strangely for him 🤔
@@RightAmount because for whatever reason, Google decided that those specific processes all technically go under one menu. I.e, everything he just did only counts as one menu, so the back gesture sends him back to the home screen
Switching to Android from iPhone has its perks, but seriously, the customization options are 🔥! Why are iPhone users so obsessed with that premium feel when they’re missing out on all the fun stuff? 😂 Are you really gonna let a little premium gloss hold you back from making your phone truly yours?
I need my 10 years of updates, thanks.
Pixels have 8@@cardiffe
@@cardiffe lol you had me
This was better than LTT video, this guy is open to understanding android insted of wanting it to be exactly like ios
17:00 there's something called private space where you can hide your apps.
Also you can see ur screen time under apps in settings.
And I don't recommend using a different launcher than the Google one because the animations when closing an app are not nearly as smooth. ( The only way to make them look better would be to root your phone )
