This is such an interesting document, thank you for sharing it. By the time Ali retired in late June 1979 (thus vacating the WBA heavyweight title) Holmes had defended his WBC title three times, against Evangelista, Ocasio and Weaver. Moreover, Holmes fought two of the biggest punchers in the division in a little over 90 days. He stopped Weaver in June of 1979, then Earnie Shavers in September.
Man, the hate is real huh. The man’s just doing his job w/ the trash talk(+slaps/drop kicks 😂) He was extremely respectful in this video though, just spoke with honest confidence. And it’s justified. He was a great heavyweight no matter his legacy
Larry Holmes was never cocky and he never had a big mouth, he was always humble and all he ever wanted was his well-deserved respect that he never really got as a great champion...
@@claydogmadman7843 I grew up in Las Vegas during his reign. We were all Ali fans and after Holmes beat up Ali in 1980 none of us ever liked Holmes.I giving you the back story. But yes,he was a great fighter, but he came in at the right time.Ali, Frazier, Norton, Shavers, foreman was retired temporarily, But all these guys were past their prime when Holmes stepped into the light.Foreman would have destroyed Holmes, but they never fought.I understand what you are saying, but Holmes pissed everyone off for about 10years declaring his greatness. He was Ali's sparring partner for years. Its not what you say, it's how you say it and he came in talking to much instead of being humble about it.
I love Larry Holmes he was a complete professional athlete
❤Most underrated heavyweight champion : Larry Holmes

@@Chente_Bui that's Real
Most satisfying night to me was seeing Tyson’s ass get whooped twice by Holyfield, and demolished by Lewis.
