Those national-teams were had fantastic players and Croatia is with top 4 in Final. In my opinion 2018 Croatia is good but 98 is the best.

Italy, France, Brazil, Croatia, Germany, Netherlands, Czech Republic but also Argentina and England of late 90s early 2000s were much much better teams than the current best teams in the world. I am not entirely sure if this is just a miserable generation for football, or the sport has changed so much that it's very difficult for pure talent to emerge now

What are you talking about ? Football is a contact game , when you are in a defensive state, i think for a defender to put in some pressure to the striker it is quite reasonable. But for the striker to push , kick in order to score a goal, then it is a foul . May be red or yellow is too harsh but it is definitely a foul and not a goal.

I'm still waiting for a match between Croatia and France in a big tournament that France will win without referee helping them along the way. We all know about this game and the foul on Jarni by Thuram that the referee "didn't see" and the final in Russia 2018 where an obvious dive by Griezmann was turned into a free kick that led to a goal and the unintentional Perišić handball that was after a couple of minutes looking at the VAR replay turned into a penalty for France (funny how the same unintentional handball was not called when the ball struck Trezeguet's arm in Euro 2004 in Portugal and after which he scored for France, but even with the help of the referee that time France couldn't beat Croatia and the score was 2-2).

By no fault of his own, he is "guilty" for the goals that had Croatia eliminated from those torunaments. VAR would have helped with this. I still can't believe how the French are still angry at Bilić and say he was "faking" while it is clear that he was smacked on the chin by Blanc. It's especially ridiculous now that the players are overreacting and exaggerating any kind of contact, kick or punch they receive. Unlike many cases, this was an actual punch.

We got even worse in this final, Griezman dived clearly, got a freekick, and France led 1:0. It would be MUCH different game if we scored first. France needing to attack wouldnt be so good for their type of players, especially since we had crazy midfield, hard to take a ball from them.
