2) Cynthia is from London, England, born and raised, not Nigeria or Africa.
3) The Entertainment Industry makes over 50 billion dollars a year and the actors/singers only get 12% of it, They also have to use their OWN money and time to promote their gig, pay their musicians/staff, with no extra pay, they're ALL played as pawns.
4) Everyone who is signed by the Entertainment industry is controlled by the Industry, it doesn't matter what nationality you are.

The Oscars didn't deserve her anyway. She was too magnificent.
You knew Renee was going to win it literally when you hear how she was making the most oscar bait-y movie of all time lol ugh i didn't even think it was that good of a movie either. Harriet was better but not by much tbh... I was pretty bummed because Erivo is magnificent in it and I felt like she was kinda wasted in that script. Just felt like there is a much more impressive movie script to write out Tubbman's life story, maybe it would be better suited for a mini-series I suppose. I just felt like the Movie failed to do her justice within it's medium. "Stand Up" was fucking incredible though and deserved to win best song. I liked the Elton John song bc it really did feel like one of his old songs, but good lord Stand Up was fucking magical.
It felt like it legitimately could have been in The Color Purple's broadway musical. Makes me think Tubbman's life could be an incredible musical and kinda shocks me it hasn't been.
Glad she got to perform it because thats basically all I hope for from the oscars. To give an audience to great performances that most people didn't get to see, but she still got to perform it so its worth :)

Sakinah Abdussamad Cynthia is playing Aretha in a television show so she’d be up for an Emmy, not an Oscar. But she may be nominated for two Oscars for Harriet: Best Actress and Original Song (“Stand Up”).

Her movie career is fairly recent, she has been performing on the West End and Broadway for awhile. She is amazing and I’m so glad for her success. Loving her in The Outsider on HBO.
She is STAGE TRAINED. She won a Tony for the revival of A Color Purple.
