I've NEVER seen Martin Luther King Jr SMILE so much. Martin Luther King Jr had a full written speech prepared. But Mahalia Jackson told him "Tell them your dream, tell them your dream." He put down his papers & the famous 'I have a dream' speech was seared into our consciences forever. What an anointed friendship they had!
Look closely at Martin’s face. Almost instantly when he heard Mahalia’s voice, he started smiling. That’s the affect&conviction that her voice had&still to this very day how ironic in so many decades after her passing. Them folks was in there having some good CHUUUUCH ‼️The Legendary 1st Crowned Queen of The Gospel⛪️👑RIP🕊🌹
It's also the song she chose to sing. She's basically saying "God chose him to lead his people into freedom" she's giving him her blessing basically. Well lead the people of the church to freedom... everyone else gets thrown out.
I feel so bad in my heart, 😭. White supremacists and racists made Luther King life a hell on earth, every day was a struggle. A struggle just to put across what is obvious and right, that all men are created equal and should be treated equal. Just that, and they made him a kill target, made him an enemy. Don't we know we are children of same God, color variations are just a way of beauty in His garden of flowers. God, forgive humanity.
Mahalia had the gift for sure...and Dr King felt it ...a great start for his sermon...thanks for sharing this special moment...love this happy time for all peoples. Praise the Lord! He spoke against all kinds of bigotry...such a wonderful preacher man.
How nervously this man looked to do gods work yet he found the will and bravery for the cause he chose to fight and having god on his side help him over come his fear and mahalia great voice.
Im sitting here filled with tears of joy and saddness at the same time! This just made me want to get back in sombodys church choir!! Please lord use me. Move me not to my own understanding but guide me to where you want my feet planted to serve you for goodness and mercy
2 ICONS Praising Old Time Religion...My God this was a moment in time that NEEDED to be captured. Thank You for posting it. They Can’t Change This History Lesson!!!!
This is one of my favorite Mahalia Jackson Performances, You Can see how Charmed Rev. King Was When he Recognized Her Voice before She came on stage, she had no mic & sang her heart out & lefted everyone's spirits. Dr. King was fit to fight the battle of Racial Equally & Justice for civil rights For All Mankind Just as Joshua was fit to fight the battle of Jericho. Hallelujah 🙏🙏 🙏🙏 Amen 🙏 🙏🙏 🙏🙏 🙏
My grandmother loved Mahalia's voice. I think that is why she encouraged me to sing the Gospel. Thank you, grandma! What a good speech/sermon to hear on a Sunday evening.
This the best thing I think I have ever seen. So much joy in that room, and such a hard battle they were fighting. I feel unworthy even watching this. The absolute joy on her face after she starts singing and could see Dr King smiling….her heart was just filled with the power of God.
My grandma always played Miss Mahalia’s tapes when I was growing up. She played them so much that I taught myself how to sing like her when I was little. Lol!!! Watching this video bought back many memories of my grandmother. 💙🩵🥺
What it must’ve been like in that room!!! You can feel all the love power and unity that was there. In the climate of today looking at this encourages me
How could there be dislikes if it is God speaking through the lips of Dr. Martin Luther King and Mahalia Jackson with her voice shake us deep to feel the holly spirit.
My Great grandmother as well as my grandmother use to sing this song and they use to also say “fit” the battle of Jericho but it’s actually “fought” the battle.
This was when we use to protect each other, when we used to love each other and lift each other up. I wish we could get back to being a community and a race with this kind of love, protection and respect for one another. In 2024, our ancestors and the millions that fought for us will be EXTREMELY disappointed in what we’ve become, and how we’ve disrespected and tainted the legacy and foundation they laid for us. They would be shedding so many tears seeing black brothers and sisters killing each other, harming each other, turning on one another and being disgraceful. How sad is it that we were all ONE family, ONE voice and ONE sound back then when we were treated like heards of cattle. Then we gained a little bit of freedom and forgot what our ancestors had to endure for us to enjoy these freedoms and we so stupidly started to dismantle the foundation built on the blood, sweat and tears of our elders. It’s sad to even say that segregation and so many inequalities had us pouring more love and unity into our black community. The trauma of racism had us protecting one another and really feeling like we’re brothers and sisters. We get equal rights and then turn on one another And nobody can make that make sense. Is trauma the ingredient we need to repair the foundation our ancestors died in the process of creating for us?

That's the joy of our Lord, my brother.
What a wonderful support this queen was for Dr. King❤❤❤. God has perfect time. Dr. King was comforted by her wonderful voice. Phenomenal ❤❤❤

Do y'all see how far that mic is from her mouth & she is STILL SANGING DOWN & booming over the claps & choir.
What a supernatural moment to witness. Her anointing was astounding. I could only imagine how Holy Spirit moved through there.
The perfect song for the civil rights movement, thanks queen Mahalia! Martin gave his life fighting the Battle of Jericho.
Dr. Martin Luther King's dream will come to pass. Peace and unity. Watch his dream speech. Hate, jealousy and biases must end. Sealed.
Im sitting here filled with tears of joy and saddness at the same time! This just made me want to get back in sombodys church choir!! Please lord use me. Move me not to my own understanding but guide me to where you want my feet planted to serve you for goodness and mercy

They sang they made speeches they protested they marched
But nothing has changed
Freedom what freedom
Thats how you know se pulled up to the function
Anyone know Who was the pastor who handed her the mic? That looks like the late Bishop Brazier
"You will be heard and come back again" Fyodor Dostoyevsky
MLK was smooth dude✊🏾
Revelation 2:9 & 3:9 King didn't know he was a Israelite.
i always thought it was Joshua "fought" the battle
Lit King's ass on fire.
King don’t belong in the presence of god for selling out his people. Which explains why he looks uncomfortable.
What? Do tell what your rumbling about.
How ignorant do you sound!!
Powerful!
