I think this just proves that fromsoft cares about their lore far less than the community thinks they do, not saying they can't have a spin off for fun that has zero implications in the actual worlds. But I feel like this just shows that they take it far less seriously than hardcore lore fans act like they do
that's a good way to put it, this feels like the studio screwing around with some new gameplay concepts and throwing the lore in there to have some fun
Fromsoft games barely even have lore. Just some neat plot points filled with a bunch of vague and nonsensical bullshit, wait until the fans make up some cool fan theories, then steal them.
i thought for 30 seconds it was a dlc around the gloam-eyed queen because of the spectres, the sky, and the blue flames, but then i saw the centipede demon and nameless king and immediately knew it was some kind of boss-rush or spin-off.
It is technically a stand alone title, a roguelike / not rpg and without constant progression. Miyazaki has also said that being director for titles is not his job, that more people at fromsoft gets to try it. So this is probably someone trying out a roguelike game but using the elden ring assets.
I swear this is why they did it because people just see Elden Ring and think it’s a sequel. It’s not a sequel. It’s a spin off because of the name is so popular.
I think this is the closest we can get to a boss rush mode. I am super excited that they are mixing in most of their IPs in there. Fingers crossed for armored core reference.
I'm sure it won't. It reminds me of when they announced Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. Don't expect it to impact the lore very much, just expect it to be insanely fun to play.
@@Cas-ed9ob I’m a little shocked to hear it, let them cook, has FromSoft not earned the benefit of the doubt yet? Every evolution and experiment of the formula has been a W.
PC Gamer put out a video explaining the game. It's a rogue-like dungeon crawler. 6 preset characters, 3 player co-op, run and level up and fight a boss at the end that you pick. They described it as feeling more like a mod or game mode than full game. I'm here for it tbh
Seems like a good way to test our reaction to new mechanics while Miyazaki works on the next main title and a nice nod to the last decade of awesome games they gave us. As long as they don't make us fight Balteus on foot i'm fine with that
At 3:03 that Spider is Literally from Dark Souls 2, so probably The Dukes Dear Freyja is in this game too, But seeing Centipede Demon and Nameless King gives me Hope of seeing Sekiro and Bloodborne Bosses and enemies in the game
Fixed Characters Roguelike battleroyale with circle Fast paced for quicker fights like it's fine, a souls game that's roguelike is fine. but they shouldn't have called it Elden Ring. they could've just made another game, make it small. but they had to attach "Elden Ring" in it lol
You weirdos need to stop crying about the name lmao it does nothing, buy it or don't and stfu instead of reaching so hard for something to complain about, actually pathetic.
@@guyalOfSfere-v1p I mean Elden ring used a lot of Dark Souls assets and this trailer showed us Centipede Demon, nameless king, Ds2 Spider and in a seperate image we see even Dukes Dear Freija. So there just as much a reason to call the game Dark souls Nightfall by that logic.
I want to say too, the bosses of Fromsoft game have never been designed for CO-OP. So seeing the attacks and mechanics of the Cerberus type creature in the desert and how its specifically designed for CO-OP makes me very happy. Looks badass
I'm cautiously optimistic. Tbh I'm hoping that instead of the game having its own lore and mashing Dark souls, elden ring, bloodborne, etc lore, it expands the lore on the other games and keeps them separate instead. For instance that cerberus boss may come from the elden ring universe, and any item's or lore we get about from that boss we analyze in the context of the elden ring universe alone if that makes sense
Yeah I hope they use the idea of some hypothetical multiversal mashup to expand on aspects of the settings we didn’t get to see. I really hope it just doesn’t devolve into fanfic levels of writing.
@@Unleasheddragon i mean it kinda has already. You dont just put nameless king, centipede demon, and the ds3 firekeeper in elden ring without it feeling fanfic-ey. But its fine by me tbh, souls games have never been about the "narrative" so much as the lore. Just because Morgott is telling me to save Oolacile from 17 inches of Shura (the eighteenth inch was lost in a battle against G5 Iguazu), doesn't mean that in another moment, there cant be some random bit of scenery that manages to convey elements of an obscure celtic myth that--when framed in the context of ER's base game lore--acts as a commentary on toxic family dynamics and nature vs nurture as a concept
I’m going to be honest, at first I was so excited to see the Nameless King, but thinking about it now, I’m a little worried. I hope this doesn’t mean that FromSoftware is using nostalgia just to get a cheap emotional reaction from us and that they’re starting to run out of ideas. Every big company eventually starts to hit a creativity wall. Hopefully, they keep being creative and keep taking risks like they’ve always done.
Don't worry, this is pretty much just a side quest for them and maybe testing grounds for new mechanics in their upcoming games. Like the parkour and gliding stuff. Miyazaki said that they are working on several new projects, they are definitely not running out of ideas. They expanded the team a lot lately so they can develop these little spinoff games while others work on the big projects.
I mean this is 100% a risky move, because it’s so different. I applaud them for going in a different direction and I believe it has the connected world implications we’ve been talking about for years.
@@AdaltheRighteous I don't think it's that risky because this game seems to be a remix of their previous content mostly. The money and time investment is likely very minimal compared to their mainline games.
Not sure what to think of it beyond it looking like a coop bossrush or roguelite type of game with a lot of fan service thrown in so i wouldnt get too caried away on lore implications at this point. I wasnt expecting another full souls like or AC entry for another year or two so im definitely suprised and excited to see what this is like even if its just something they put out to keep publishers happy between releases.
I'm honestly really excited for a more focused, bite-sized gameplay experience. It's a pretty smart and efficient way to recycle assets, too, which they've always done anyway.
I have ALWAYS been a proponent of the shared universe theory. Based on the presence of a singular statue of Caitha (aka Velka) located in the Church of Vows there was already a seed planted in the base game of Dark Souls/Elden Ring overlap.
Wild guess. The spinoffs are based in different endings. "Nightreign" is after the Age of Stars, and without a God (the greater will) the Lands Between are being converged by the lands they were "between". Nightlord will be "Tarnished Consort of the Stars"
Probably has some lore attached to the nox and them trying to bring the night/their lord. We know they were punished and buried by marika (the areas we find in the underground zones).
I get this feeling that this wasn't intended as an Elden Ring thing and that was pushed by producers, but idk. Looks good, most likely going to play it
I have to raise an eyebrow from all the new concepts... -Hero player classes? So we don't really get to build our character? What do we get as rewards for playing? Do we have like equipment locked to the classes? Do we level? -Multiplayer focused? These games never... Shone on their coop features... Like the enemies are not really mean to deal with multiple foes, and I don't think that's gonna change much... -What's up with the map? Like... It's new or just slightly modified? Are we confined within zones? Is it random? Cause kinda sells like there is sorta of a random generation of places and encounters with each play session. -What's up with all the reused assets? In like... I don't mind that they reuse stuff if it creates an enjoyable experience, but... Kinda gives it the vibe of cheap cashgrab with that... -Is this like a campain thingy? Or more like short levels or play sessions in sorta of "missions" or "runs". Do we get the chance to deeply explore the zones for hidden cool rewards as we always did? We see birdman straigh up flying sometimes and the guy that runs on walls, so... How is that gonna work with level design? I dunno, I watch this and I have the feeling of this would be absolutely freaking amazing as a mod, the best ever made, but it would still be a mod, that's the whole vibe this gives to me. Just dumb mindless fun, which seems pretty detached from the whole vibe they usually go for.
I’m a huge Fromsoft fan but I’m only somewhat interested in this game. I’m sure it’ll be great but I don’t really play coop games so there’s only so much excitement I can have for a game like this. To me it feels like something for Fromsoft to release while they’re working on their next big ip. I do hope ppl that play coop games enjoy it though.
Looks so awesome, remnant 2 was great, now they add in the entire dark souls universe. This will be a blast, basically a randomized boss rush with more lore
If you look up the IGN interview with the director of this game, not Miyazaki, he says this game is a spinoff that is a alternative universe to eldenring and does not share the same world or story. TI am kinda concerned after reading that article what this game is going to be but ill remain cautiously optimistic
@GwynnieThePoo actually there are other questions 1)can we change weapons armor and spells? or will they be tied to characters? 2)how big will be this game. i think it don't be very big since they had absolutely no time 3)how does this relate to dark souls 3?
@@Artem-eu3uv only thing I can say is about your 2nd question. From what I’ve read it’s like a 3 day cycle of new stuff . So after the 3 day cycle things get changed and new bosses are introduced and then repeat. So you have 3 days to become the lord of night and then it resets. Could be different but that’s the info I got out of it.
Ok so from what I’ve learned: Its gonna be a 3-man class(or hero) based Roguelike set in a PARALLEL world to main ER. Its also gonna be a new director (not miyazaki) Source: PC Gamer’s hands on review and the comments on it
Long time Souls/Ring player. I've parried the world. When Miyazaki said they were done with Elden Ring I believed him. Then this shows up. There's something about this that is raising a red flag to me.
The Nightlord could be the Gloam eyed Queen, and the "night" could be some type of spell she is using, the blue fire looks like the same as the Putrescent Knight's fire and in the files he is called the Gloam Eyed Queen Knight. This one is a huge stretch but the foggy giants resemble the titans bodies that litter the ground in Caelid and The Mountain Tops of The Giants, the smoke looks like deathblight and the goat guy at the end could be tied to Godwyn.
Co op Battle royale zone mechanic Reprocessed map Old bosses that are in a different game but why not Mmo traversal mechanics It's mindblowing indeed. Mindblowing how fromsoft runs out of ideas, pulls a ubisoft move, and everyone still glazes just cuz it's fromsoft
@@youssifosama929 I'm not but we barely know anything about the game lol Remember people thought Elden Ring was going to be singleplayer only when the gameplay trailer came out and then they all thought we were going to have the ability to summon spirit ashes during invasions
I have to say i’m a bit concerned. The fact that there’s straight up just dark souls in there, and the party mechanic makes it feel like a blend between a fan project and monster hunter or something like that.
I normally am not a fan of hero types of games but this might actually be good. I just hope that we at least get some customization for the respective characters. And of course, trick weapons.
I immediately think of the bloodborne dlc where it's kind of like an alternate dimension/dreamscape where things kind of make sense but then really don't make sense as far as how they fit together physically in the world, but maybe it's just the fact that all of the assets are used kinda like they're areas that exist in the Lands Between, but aren't quite how we remember them. Anyway.. super excited to see what the From team is cooking up for us
Random subscriber here. Dude I thought of commenting soon after when considering this game because you always have the best information about FromSoft, watching now...
Storywise i think this game takes place after the age of the stars ending, Ranni said in that ending that it was time for an eternal night. This is that night. Also at the end of the trailer they said u claim the “life of the nightlord” that sounds to me as the player character from elden ring who became Rannis elden lord in the age of the stars ending. Also at no point in the trailer did we actually see the erdtree, so to me that means that the erdtree and the elden ring itself are gone from the lands between, another clue that this is indeed the age of the stars/age of night.
The soulsborne games have went from my most hated gaming experience to realizing i was a jackass and they were my favorite. As someone who explored the lands between and the shadow realm ad nauseam and somehow manged to only miss like 6 or 7 items i couldnt be more burnt out on the idea of another open world experience. If this is more akin to a roguelike with bite sized play sessions wrapped in the gameplay and difficulty of the souls borne series im am soooo down. This has to be the most ive excited ive been for a game release since the og elden ring. Im not saying i dont want an elden ring sequel or sekiro bloodborne etc but THIS is the pallet cleanser i needed but never saw coming. Hype as fuck.
Idc what kinda game Fromsoftware makes I know it’ll 1000% be a banger. After finding out how good Armored core 6 was my first time playing, it I will never doubt this studio😭
@tevenpowell8023 you can't deny though that the core gameplay loop has stayed the same. Adding an open world just threw all the items further away. You can't tell me it's fun having to go to every single corner of the map for scadutree fragments everytime you play dlc. Don't it just feel like you wanna be done with it after the first time?
@@tevenpowell8023 Strange? I think its quite justified. Personally I am not a fan of the open world take that they embarked on with this entry, I liked when the games were linear and filled with content, not saying that Elden Ring isn't filled with content, but its a drag having to explore vast spaces of just grass and crumbled structures just to get to the good parts of the game. It reminds me so heavily of the latest Zelda games, and I could not get into them at all because of that. I feel that their linear works were more strong and successful. Additionally, I rather have few weapons like in BB that feel fully fleshed out, than have 200+ weapons that feel very akin to one another. Elden Ring just got old very quick for me compared to their other titles, but hey if you love ER, more power to you!
@Craig_Da_Vinci bro exactly my issue with the game (open world+bloat content) there are so many weapons that look dope and have cool lore but literally half the weapons in the game are not viable weapons unless you enjoy beating your head into the wall for hours. Spin-off probably not canon wasn't it confirmed that elden ring is not connected to the other games

Absolutely blindsided and so freaking stoked!
I think this just proves that fromsoft cares about their lore far less than the community thinks they do, not saying they can't have a spin off for fun that has zero implications in the actual worlds. But I feel like this just shows that they take it far less seriously than hardcore lore fans act like they do
Well yeah this is just a boss rush with elden ring thrown in the title
that's a good way to put it, this feels like the studio screwing around with some new gameplay concepts and throwing the lore in there to have some fun
Fromsoft games barely even have lore. Just some neat plot points filled with a bunch of vague and nonsensical bullshit, wait until the fans make up some cool fan theories, then steal them.
No it doesnt?
Well it would have made sense if the games branched off the six elden ring endings but this...
the three dogs could be the ones depicted at Maliketh's arena
That's a damn good observation, you could be on to something
Also the boss we could have gotten at one of the 4 place we fight a red wolf of Radagon instead of ... You know, another red Wolf of Radagon
👏👏👏👏
i thought for 30 seconds it was a dlc around the gloam-eyed queen because of the spectres, the sky, and the blue flames, but then i saw the centipede demon and nameless king and immediately knew it was some kind of boss-rush or spin-off.
Cringe af
God I'm so excited "no plans for future elden ring dlc or sequal" miyazaki your such a troll I love you
Well it’s not a sequel OR dlc. It’s a standalone. So he didn’t lie lol
People don’t know how to read
I think this is the closest we can get to a boss rush mode. I am super excited that they are mixing in most of their IPs in there. Fingers crossed for armored core reference.
Elden Ring became Fort Night
More like Dark and Darker...Souls

My fear is that none of this has any lore implications, that it was just thrown together.
I'm sure it won't. It reminds me of when they announced Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. Don't expect it to impact the lore very much, just expect it to be insanely fun to play.
@ not impacting is fine. I mean I hope it wasn’t just thrown together without any thought and end up impacting the lore badly lol.
People calling this a soulless cash grab is nuts. This shit looks crazy fun
@@Cas-ed9ob I’m a little shocked to hear it, let them cook, has FromSoft not earned the benefit of the doubt yet? Every evolution and experiment of the formula has been a W.

it does, those malders just want nothing for the table
It's looking like a monster hunter type of coop, far from being predatory and I'm all for it
PC Gamer put out a video explaining the game. It's a rogue-like dungeon crawler. 6 preset characters, 3 player co-op, run and level up and fight a boss at the end that you pick. They described it as feeling more like a mod or game mode than full game. I'm here for it tbh
I'll be honest, seing the Nameless King there gave me Metal Gear Survive vibes. Hope to be proven wrong.
Although the model has probably been completely redone, the Firekeeper looks much better than her DS3 version.

We have seen a seperate image of dukes dear Freija in what kinda looks like the Mist area next to leyndell so yeah you were on the money.
A great way to reuse favorite bosses as well as any unused assets IMO.
Fixed Characters
Roguelike battleroyale with circle
Fast paced for quicker fights
like it's fine, a souls game that's roguelike is fine.
but they shouldn't have called it Elden Ring. they could've just made another game, make it small. but they had to attach "Elden Ring" in it lol
Cos it's literally built upon ER. Everything u see is built on the core of ER.
The fact that they're using the Elden Ring assets is why it's coming out in 2025 and not 2027.
You weirdos need to stop crying about the name lmao it does nothing, buy it or don't and stfu instead of reaching so hard for something to complain about, actually pathetic.
@@yeahnahmate7 you're the one crying lol
@@guyalOfSfere-v1p I mean Elden ring used a lot of Dark Souls assets and this trailer showed us Centipede Demon, nameless king, Ds2 Spider and in a seperate image we see even Dukes Dear Freija.
So there just as much a reason to call the game Dark souls Nightfall by that logic.
I want to say too, the bosses of Fromsoft game have never been designed for CO-OP. So seeing the attacks and mechanics of the Cerberus type creature in the desert and how its specifically designed for CO-OP makes me very happy. Looks badass
One dog for each hero, but when you attempt to solo it you just get a three dog gank lol.
The game awards basically showed the game of the year before it was even released

After all the Fort Night messages left around the world of Elden ring, From soft took that to heart, and made its own version of it

Its a non-canon co-op spin-off there are no canon DS/ER overlaps.
5:12 for me the ruins on the wall screamed Lost Izalith.
Wild guess.
The spinoffs are based in different endings. "Nightreign" is after the Age of Stars, and without a God (the greater will) the Lands Between are being converged by the lands they were "between".
Nightlord will be "Tarnished Consort of the Stars"
Its set in the past as confirmed by game director
@@jamesn3122 source?
Probably has some lore attached to the nox and them trying to bring the night/their lord. We know they were punished and buried by marika (the areas we find in the underground zones).
@jprec5174 I would 100% agree considering where we get the Finger Slayer blade for Ranni.
It's a rogue like with tiered loot with different rarities and abilities and enemies changing each run, with different bosses appearing at each Night
I get this feeling that this wasn't intended as an Elden Ring thing and that was pushed by producers, but idk. Looks good, most likely going to play it
Dude dead ass initially for like the first 30 sec I thought "damn what's this game? cause it looks a lot like elden ring"
Agree, doesn't look bad as a game experience, but its not what i think of when i see the title Elden Ring on it
Read the IGN article and some other gameplay reviews. It's kinda like an extraction game
It's not their main project clearly. They moved on from the elden ring and now developing next big souls game, this is just a spin off
You get relics when you finish a run which apparently buff certain aspects of abilities
You complaining about stuff being reused is insane when tons of stuff from past from soft games were used in elden ring
Bro didnt even wait for the game awards to end 😭😭😭😭🙏🙏🙏🙏bros on the grind
Looks so awesome, remnant 2 was great, now they add in the entire dark souls universe. This will be a blast, basically a randomized boss rush with more lore
If you look up the IGN interview with the director of this game, not Miyazaki, he says this game is a spinoff that is a alternative universe to eldenring and does not share the same world or story. TI am kinda concerned after reading that article what this game is going to be but ill remain cautiously optimistic
Instead of being optimistic you should emotionally prepare for microtransactions.
@@rclaws3230 i dont think I can recover from a reality that twisted.

@GwynnieThePoo Well, that's good, because I don't have friends🤣😅😭
@GwynnieThePoo thanks, so far it all looks interesting.
Ok so from what I’ve learned:

Yup. Nothing about this looks good, not in a gameplay way but overall, what is this and why would they release this.
Doing combos with the homies is gonna be sick we juggling the mobs now with this one

Remember people thought Elden Ring was going to be singleplayer only when the gameplay trailer came out and then they all thought we were going to have the ability to summon spirit ashes during invasions
I have to say i’m a bit concerned.
The fact that there’s straight up just dark souls in there, and the party mechanic makes it feel like a blend between a fan project and monster hunter or something like that.
Reminds me of an open world chalice dungeon.
I normally am not a fan of hero types of games but this might actually be good. I just hope that we at least get some customization for the respective characters.
And of course, trick weapons.
I hope to God that this isn’t a half-assed Elden Ring cash grab.
Anyway.. super excited to see what the From team is cooking up for us
I’m already dissatisfied. Character customization is a big thing for me. So I’m kinda bummed out already.
This feels like they told the B-team to take all their existing gameplay and assets and go crazy/experiment with them and I'm all here for it.
Maybe the night has something to do with the gloom-eyed queen? I find it weird that they didn’t show Melina and opted to use Fire keeper instead
Oh my god not again that gloom eyed queen. Can people just accept that this is a Velka situation where we will never know anything about the character
@ Let us believe
Hopefully them having set classes in this new game will keep people playing the first Elden ring for custom classes and invasions

We're really getting the FCU (Fromsoft Cinematic Universe) with this one 💀💀
Finally can’t believe they didn’t make regular Elden ring coop (fully) for non pc players
I dunno this one looks a bit unpolished compared to their previous works at least from what the trailer is showing.

This is only the second Elden Ring game. Strange to be burnt out already.
Miyazaki is likely cooking up something. Might be a minute before we get it tho
It sucks so much centering a build around a weapon you think is cool/would be fun just to find out come late game/dlc that it just plain blows
Bro! You just made my whole week!
Not impressed to be honest, looks more like to me that Bamco forced From to push something out.
As soon as i saw Nameless, i immediately got ptsd flashbacks from his boss fight. And he's back to skill check us again.
I fell like it might be a sequel because sounds like what the lands between should become with ranni's end. idk but I'm so damn happy rn
It might be in a canon story sort of way but it's certainly not Elden Ring 2
I feel like it must be a prequel, like, explaining why the Nox have angered the Greater Will and stuff.
This is incredible. The movement alone will change souls games forever going forward.
I got the information about this game and the information said there is not PVP at all. It’s only focused on PVE gameplay.
Really hope they add pvp in this, invasions would probably look interesting in it
@Bass858 it's a survival game as well as not gear or levels transfer between runs. It's literally just 30 min boss rushes.
