I just learned a wonderful hack on how to fix or lessen yellow page edges and it's by sanding it with a very fine sanding paper. It works very well on my second hand books.

Hello! I love Sense and Sensibility. I like it just as much as Pride and Prejudice, maybe a tad more. Raisens used to be here in the states, but not as second hand. They went out of business. I WISH there were a lot more bookstores here. At least in S.E. Michigan. All the little indie ones went out of business a long time ago. Omg!! A Laura Wood book! I adore that writer and her novels, my favourite book of her’s is Under a Dancing Star, coincidentally also the first book I read of her’s, it’s also a summer romance novel (clean) about a girl named Bea who goes to live with her bohemian uncle in 1920’s Italy for a summer and she finds herself surrounded by expressive and very creative artists of all kinds and also falls in love with one of the artists, Ben, it’s based on the first part of Much Ado About Nothing by Shakespeare

All these books sound so good! I loooove Jane Austen and I am always looking for more books with the same atmosphere. There's a series of books called Béatrice, Hyde-Clare Mysteries by Lynn Messina that I love. It's cosy mystery during the regency and has a slow burn romance I love!

It is now one of the least places I will purchase from because I’ve had a few books that are in such bad shape and I only purchase like new or very good condition books and there is no way that these books would be in those two categories. It’s very disappointing because I love to buy used books and I believe they have quite a few books that they sell.
That's true. I've had the same experience. But my books were very very dirty and sticky. I don't even want to know what that was. Had to toss them right into the trash after unpacking.
yess! it can be a little bit of a risk sadly, and I've felt that half the times the books were in amazing condition, whilst the other half weren't so much. I'm still happy to provide homes for all the secondhand books out there and so will continue to shop from world of books, but completely agree to your experience!!

You’re helping divert huge amounts of methane from the landfill and also fighting environment racism since landfills statistically add put by BIPOC neighborhoods and we do suffer the effects. It’s to the point my doctor point blank told me when I’m able to afford it one day, he thinks I should just move away from my area because he thinks my respiratory condition would be totally different and I’m not in a big city either. But I’m in a city and I’m on the side where the trash and suspicious factories with weird smells and gases go. Not to tmi you, but I think if people can remember we all collectively impact one another, maybe the giving up some luxuries gets a little easier. But please know if it’s just sticky, you can wipe those books down, they’re just older rubberized covers and it’s natural, especially with UV exposure. Some don’t know and throw the whole thing away. Books are methane creators which is twenty times more potent than C02 and we waste 10 million trees yearly on unread ones in part because people don’t like “ugly” covers from small presses or damaged books don’t get a home.

I have this happen to me buying from thriftbooks (US site I live in Canada). And what I love about thriftbooks is that I take pictures of it and email them that I didn't receive the condition I ordered, and most of the time I get a refund for that book (sometimes it's half, but still a refund). I would recommend trying that, just be polite and respectful.

Just make sure you do it the day you receive the package/open it. I end up having 12 pics of a book lol just to make sure they see from every angle and they can make a better decision. I close out the email with "what are our next step?" I never demand or ask for a refund.
I've read A Sky Painted Gold and have a set of Laura Wood's books in this series. They're gorgeous. The book is very good and does seem inspired by The Great Gatsby. Much happier ending, however.
Georgette Heyer's 'These Old Shades' is my all time favourite book. The cover is immaterial with a good book. RUclips seems to judge every book by its cover, so odd. Enjoyed your vid thank you.
I’ve ordered from world of books before, it’s such a shame as it’s a great concept but they were nothing but a disappointment 😢 I thought I was purchasing a specific edition of a book in ‘like new’ condition, and got delivered a completely different edition that was super damaged. All they could say for themselves was, they have very large warehouses and cannot guarantee what is delivered 🙄🙄 gorgeous video xx
