    Thank you for this. I’m in the middle of my first semester and it’s smothering. I literally have to take one day at a time, however I’m very thankful.

    Congratulations this was so informative. I'm in the application process right now. I've worked as a team lead life skills trainer for a few years now. We rehabilitation brain and spinal cord injury patients and it's one of the many reasons I fell in love with the OT field. I want to be in a field that combines all of my passions. I wish you the best in all of your endeavors. It's great to to make connections and network. Take care.

    I’m very grateful this channel exists as I submitted my application a couple weeks ago and do not personally know anyone that has gone to OT school. It’s something I’ve dreamed of for a long time and hope that next summer I’ll be starting the program. Thank you for adding information about financial assistance! How much hours did you have to complete for fieldwork? And is $10,500 from FAFSA for the entire duration of the program or per academic year?

    • @deereneee
      @deereneee  3 года назад +3

      Good luck with everything! and fieldwork requirements are different for every program! For my level I's I did one day a week for 10 weeks and level II's I did 480 hrs each level II! The $10,500 is from Fafsa and you usually get that every year!

    Deerenee,Thanks for posting this video! It was very helpful. I just got into OTD school and I had no idea how I was going to pay for it. I really appreciate the the advice, and keep it up with the videos! :) Also, did you happen to do any activities or anything to relieve stress? I know I have a lot of that to come! lol

      Thank you so much! I’m glad you found some gems! Some things I did to relieve stress was definitely getting my nails done, walking outside to clear my mind and definitely hanging out with friends! Hope this helps 😊

    I am attending OT school in the fall, and I am incredibly nervous about what's to come. I loved your video! Do you have any thoughts on imposter syndrome in OT school? Also, did the exams in OT school differ greatly from those in undergrad? Thank you and wish you the best of luck on your journey!

    • @deereneee
      @deereneee  4 года назад +2

      That’s a great question! I feel that in OT school it could happen. However, in my program I had a lot of support from my friends that really helped me stay grounded. Of course I had my bad days where my anxiety would make me doubt myself but I would try to remind myself that OT is what I love and the stress of school will end. As far as the exams, I would say yes they are different than undergrad because you’re learning information that you need to know to actually help people. If you don’t learn the info then it will be hard for you after school when you actually become an OT. I always thought of the exams as an important aspect but the clinicals were more important to me. That is where I feel like I learned the most and was able to understand the information! Hope all of this helps and good luck on your journey!! 😊

    What gpa did you have when you applied to OT school?
    My gpa is 3.6 and I’m trying to bring it up before applying to OT schools. What do you recommend me to do to stand out when applying for schools? Is it more community service and volunteer hours or starting a club at a college?

    • @deereneee
      @deereneee  4 года назад +1

      I had a 3.7 GPA! I would recommend to get involved on campus. Starting a club would be a great idea! Good luck with everything 😊

    Can you apply to an OT Master's Program with a Bachelor Degree in a different major because I have my Bachelor degree in Human Service.

    • @deereneee

      Hi Lucy! Yes you can! You just have to make sure you have taken the pre-reqs you need to apply to that OT program!

    I know there are not a lot of male OTs, as a male I wanted to know if there’s a more males because all the videos I’ve seen so far were mostly women. & also how many observation hours did you complete.

    • @deereneee
      @deereneee  4 года назад +1

      Usually there are 2-4 males out of class cohorts of 30 people! But don’t get discouraged by the number! It’s low because not a lot of males apply! Which helps your chances of getting in! And I completed 80 hrs 😊

    • @greenbean1442

      @@deereneee thank you so much, we’re your 80 hr in different settings?

    • @deereneee
      @deereneee  4 года назад +1

      My 80 hrs were split over 2 different settings! 22 hrs were at a nursing home and 60 were at a pediatric outpatient facility!

    What is the difference between having a grad assistance-ship thru your school vs through the OT program itself? Arent they both through the school?

    • @deereneee
      @deereneee  3 года назад

      The difference is the job duties and the pay! Grad assistantships through the school usually gives you a steady paycheck while through a program it takes money off of your tuition! This is how my school did this but every school is different!

    Just curious, is it realistic to work during OT school or do you have to devote most of your time to school?

    • @deereneee
      @deereneee  4 года назад +1

      Thank you for your support! I would say yes but only if you are a good multitasker. If you aren’t then I would say to focus on school because it does take up a lot of your time! Hope this helps 😊

    Thank you for sharing this video! I will be attending OT school this summer! I was considering about applying for a graduate assistant job, but wasn’t sure if it will be too demanding. Could you share with me your experience taking on two graduate assistant jobs and managing school. Thank you ♥️
