Garden design - Experiment moor bed without turf

We have a small hummock in our garden that we haven't used much so far, except for a thornless blackberry bush and Jerusalem artichoke that accidentally got into the bed. Now we have decided that, as an experiment, we want to turn the bed into a moor bed without the use of turf. Before we can start, however, we have to clear the bed of Jerusalem artichoke rhizomes and cord grass, which turns out to be quite time-consuming. To do this, we remove all the stones and wood from the border of the bed and then dig up the whole hill. We then reuse the stones and wood for the new bed structure. We also decided to sieve some of the humus in which the Jerusalem artichoke has grown. For the first time we use our self-made vibrating sieve, which is completely made of roof slats. In the bog bed we plant four blueberry bushes (three new and one existing plant), plus a green tea plant. Above the moor bed we will also plant a Szechuan pepper shrub.
The moor bed itself, as already announced, will consist of a mixture of wood chips (acid supplier) and humus instead of turf. We hope, of course, that this experiment will be successful. Let's wait and see.
