- "There Is a Light That Never Goes Out" is a song by the British alternative rock group The Smiths, written by singer Morrissey and guitarist Johnny Marr. It was originally featured on their third album The Queen Is Dead (1986). The song was released as a single in France in 1987,[1] but in other territories - including the United Kingdom - was not released as a single until 1992, five years after The Smiths split up. It reached number 25 on the UK Singles Chart.[2] Morrissey released a live version of the song as a double A-side with his cover of Patti Smith's "Redondo Beach" in 2005 - this version reached number 11 in the UK charts. The song has received considerable critical acclaim, and is viewed by many music critics and fans as one of the greatest songs of all time.

@Ram Martinez it depends of everyone, there are different kinds of people. I consider myself a very introvert person and a little depressive and sometimes it's difficult to me to have social plans, and i really apreciate when someone proposes me to go out with him/her you know, and i have a lot of affection for some of those people
I'm lonely and introvert that means that I HATE go out bla bla bla! Maybe you're right John... sometimes you just can't find the space for you or the situation for you to go out

I don't know if even Morrisey wrote that thinking in a friend of him, not a girlfriend or sth like that. They say he wasn't very good at relationships, as he was such a lonely person
@chloe meza goofed well also depends of the situation. The song talks about someone that lives in a house with his family and they don't want him, and that person doesn't go out frequently maybe (that's how i interpretate it). However you can look it from other point of views. For example i used to live alone in a department until last year, and i was very lonely, so i was so happy when someone would invite me somewhere to socialize, know new people and stuff like that
Like sometimes you don't necessarily have to interpretate songs fully as it is, you can give it variations or focus in some parts in specific (like in the fact of loving someone for taking you out, something very common between introvert people, however the song doesn't talk about loneliness)

5 years ago my girlfriend showed me this band and in particular this song because she related to the lyrics so much.
When we 1st met she lived 3 hours from me so I would go pick her up during the weekends and bring her back to my town so we can be together and I can "take her out" because she was stuck living at a place where she didn't feel welcomed, so one day I decided to give her a place to call home in my town, so I got us an apartment and payed for the rent on my own for a couple months until she found a job, and it was a beautiful life. 5 years later were no longer together and she has her own place to call home and I'm now wishing she could "take me out" because I have no place to call home anymore. She was my home. I'm just not her home anymore.
So please guys take care of yourself and if you want a place to call home you will find one, you just need to take care of that home...
