Clearly you hadn’t been introduced to 2024 One of the greatest bits of dialogue from this series is when Billy says something like “I don’t think I hate the way things change: I miss my youth”
This song always gets me. Was homesick for a very long time when I left Scotland and this version always brings a tear to my eye especially when the pipes kick in.
HOHHH BIG MAN..!!! HOHHH HOHHHH BIG MANNN!!!! WE'RE THE SAME EHH BIG MAHNNN!!! YUVVV DRUNK WINE UP THE GRAVEYARD!!!! HOHH BIG MAN, EAZZY EAZZY!!!!!! 🏴
The melody is a traditional Celtic tune. Bob Dylan took a similar melody for his brilliant track Lay Down Your Weary Tune. I love this. Having lost all of my family apart from 1 brother it can bring tears to my eyes. If there's people out there who still have their families then please try and appreciate them every single day. What I would give just to spend 1 more day with my lost loved one's. Please love your families. They are irreplaceable. This song hits that spot bang on. ♥️
I just came across this. I completely agree. I can’t explain what make this so good. So emotional. Billy yelling, singing wonderfully, the pipes, all of it. It makes me think about Billy as he was when he made World Tour of Scotland. It is simply good for the soul. Love it. Thank you for posting it. Made me smile.
This song so suits Billy. A shame there's no footage, well if there is, I haven't found it yet 👍 I don't know why, but as soon as those pipes start, I get choked up and I swear I get teary eyed 😥
I was a teenager when this was on TV, and this would come on at the end of the show, then my mum got the VHS 😅box set for Christmas and it had a CD in it of this song which I would play over and over and I still had it , love you Billy you made me laugh then and you still do
I’m glad to read that Billy is doing well Ma’am. @ MsScarlette2 I know this a bit late but I hope you are well still also. I feel wishes like those that you mentioned should never go unnoticed. May your days and weeks turn to years of happiness. May God Bless You and yours, and keep you all safe.
2024 here it's still beautiful, rockon Billy.💚
Makes me cry. Awesome. Better my hero van
This is just the best version ever!! I get all choked up when I hear this and it's hard to keep my eyes dry. Love ya Billy, you are my HERO!!!!
He has given us so much... Shite, we will all miss him one day, those of us who have grown old with him.
God bless you Billy boy🙏🦁
This song gets me every time. Billy voice takes it to the next level. And those pipes! Wow. I never get tired of hearing it. ❤🏴
Unlocks a cherished childhood memory every time I hear it.
Thanks for being one of us big yin. 💚
The world needs to hear this. Every time I listen to it, I’m reminded that things aren’t so bad. The whole world needs that right now.

I love Van Morrison. I also like thrash metal.
Billy’s version is better than Van’s.
I like to think that they respect and enjoy each other's version, but you're right, naebody like the big yin 😊
