It is about the Fathers Mother(Danish has the distinction of Mothers Mother and Fathers Mother), going to the old folks home and at this point granddaughter is asking what she remembers and about her life with her husband and life in general. They have apparently moved her to a old folks home in the town of Herlev, Danmark. It is a sweet little sad song.
Herlev *is* a town not far from Copenhagen, but it's also well known as the location of the biggest hospital in Denmark. I don't know enough about the country to know which way Danes understand the beginning of the song - whether they immediately think "in that town somewhere", or "in hospital", or if they wait for more information. But maybe you're Danish and you already answered this. :)
@@davidr2704 i think its a play on the words kære gud du som er i himlen(dear god thou who art in heaven) but instead its kære farmor du som er i Herlev because Herlev is kinda boring? Or it has a boring reputation. Definetely isnt anything close to heaven
in short its a song about what you would ask your grand parents if you had the possibility to do so - and a reminder to talk with older parts of the famility before they are gone :)
Flot korstykke. Sys Bjerre må være stolt. Det er en forunderlig sang.

Some of the girls look so committed to the words that they could be singing them to their own farmor! Wonderful rhythm and lyrics!
Det er en vanvittigt smuk sang… tårerne presser sig på hver gang. En af de stærkeste tekster i Dansk sang på denne side af år 2000
