    Golfers now who want to get a lower handicap just cherry pick their good rounds and dismiss the bad ones and get to a handicap they can't play anywhere near ! Recently a pal of mine shot a great round of a couple over ( he's 8 h/cap ) and submitted the card. Next day shot 20 over and guess what, didn't submit it ! False handicaps are everywhere now !

      @@Dylan-y6n Yes agree but it's their short cut to get a lower handicap. A 5 handicap player a my club shoots in the 90's every comp. Even the 1 & 2 handicappers never shoot a really good under par round. Example on their score record would be comp score 78 then a 73 casual card goes in.

    • @Dylan-y6n
      @Dylan-y6n 18 дней назад +5

      @@geoffw8565 ive only just started recording all my rounds. All casual rounds either on my own or with friends but I really don't see the point of cheating. I play with someone who is like that and he claims to shoot 90 when in reality he shoots 110. Just cheating yourself because when it comes down to it you wont live up to that handicap. My goal is to get to scratch, currently around a 12, I shoot between 81 and 92 at my local course, last 5-6 rounds have all been 83 and under though. With better course management i can definitely be a single digit golfer soon.

    The last +6 hcp player i compared with in a tournament won the silver medal at the open. He didn't score his hcp, if he would have, with 24 under he would be already open champion.... In the past i played with a lot of good amateurs who turned pro later Anda won tournaments on the main tours. Not many of them had +6, maybe +3. In the past it was so difficult to get a such a handicap because you always had to play better to get - 0.1 down... In modern times you play a couple of rounds and you get the average.... In this bill I also would have had as a young player a +4 or 5 hcp.... Times changed. Watching your content reminds me of the past when i played with my friends... Cheers and still a happy new year!

      @geoffw8565 stop! That was a different time, the rules to get a hcp were different. Today you take cards and the average of the best cards is your hcp. When i was a young man there i had a run for some months, scored two course record rounds and some 6/7 under - there i also would have had +6. But not as consist as Josh's does... A player i compared to with turned pro with +3 ans still holding with a 12 under 60 the European tour course record. Getting such a +3 hcp took years time and so many good rounds of golf on tough courses to play. The last +6 hcp i compared in a tournament with became two times European amateur champion and won the silver medal at the open. Sorry for Josh, but this guy is by far better than he is.... He's now on the PGA tour. If Josh turns pro, he wouldn't play +6 and if he would, with 24 under he would win all tournaments... Including the majors...

    Despite looking on from Down Under and empathising for the poor conditions, I think Josh's game would hold up on a decent course. Not sure about +6 but he'd go ok in Oz. Ben's swing is rather odd and doesn't look like a scratch marker or at least one from what I play with. The greens look awful and typically very slow by comparison to what we're used to. Therefore they are responsive to chips with a bit of spin. The LAB Oz putter certainly helps Josh. Going to look at one of them myself.

His driver head is in a completely different position in the backswing when comparing practice and real swing. Respectfully have to disagree, spent 3 years of my life watching scratch players and +6, +7s while being in the industry. The level of golf here is around +3, based on the course handicap oddy is probably a +6 but his index is probably a real +3. Play a tough course, 18 holes, document everything. Even a lot of soon to be tour pros I encounter are +4, +5… it just doesn’t add up.

      I was going to say the same thing. With skins the money normally carries over when you tie a hole.
      Hole 1 - Josh loses. Josh down £100
      Hole 2 - Tie (£100 skin carries)
      Hole 3 - Tie (£100 skin carries)
      Hole 4 - Josh wins 3 skins. Josh up £200.
      Hole 5 - Josh wins. Josh up £300.
      Hole 6 - Josh wins. Josh up £400.
      Hole 7 - Josh loses. Josh up £300.
      Hole 8 - Josh wins. Josh up £400.
      Hole 9 - Tie (£100 skin carries).
      It looks like we were robbed of the extra hole to determine the final skin. Let's say they split it then, so Josh ends up with £400. Did I get that all right?
