CLEAN UP IN L'ANSE FOURMI

L’Anse Fourmi and Parlatuvier were not only cut off from electricity as a result of Hurricane Beryl but also from communications.
Many fallen trees affected the area's electricity supply. Because communications were also disrupted, residents were unable to alert authorities. Instead, they rallied together to clear the debris themselves until help arrived. T&TEC crews had to wait until trees were cleared from the road to access the lines damaged by the hurricane and conduct repairs to restore electricity. In providing a report during Urgent Questions in the Senate today, Minister of Public Utilities Marvin Gonsalves assured that all electricity would be restored by the end of the day.
Communication was also restored to the affected communities. There were no other reports of incidents in those communities as a result of the hurricane.
