- Video captured a deadly officer ambush in North Dakota as authorities said Mohamad Barakat killed Fargo Police Officer Jake Wallin and wounded Officers Andrew Dotas and Tyler Hawes.
Wallin, who served in Iraq and Afghanistan with the Minnesota Army National Guard, was just 23 years old. Wallin and Hawes were so new that they were still undergoing field training, according to officials.
Barakat was a Syrian national who came to the U.S. on an asylum request in 2012 and became a U.S. citizen in 2019, North Dakota Attorney General Drew Wrigley said, adding that he didn’t appear to have any ties to the Muslim community in Fargo. He said Barakat had some family in the U.S., but not in the Fargo area, and that investigators are still looking into his history before he arrived in the country.

I thought asking for political asylum will go through a lot of process and procedures, somehow this guy managed to get through all that, from 2012 to 2019 he finally got his citizenship. From articles that i read he was on fbi watch list (for reasons that isnt made public), there has been 2 interview with the police about concern he own 10 rifles and 2 propane tanks without any means using them. But because he acquired all his guns legally, the authority let him go. Thats insane.

The young lady wasn’t an officer but an innocent bystander. She was also shot but survived, along with two other officers. So sad the newly officer & former military young man passed, very heartbreaking.

I'm so sorry for that heroic officer giving his life. I see no groups of people picketing this loss. I see no demonstrations or speeches or late night vigils. I see no representation of various groups marching, offering sympathies and calling for violence to end.
All I do see, is every single day crooks and punk thugs are doing all they can to injure and kill the best we have in this country. Why so many back up and even worship thugs, drug heads and street trash is beyond my understanding. Many also bow down to our crooked politicians and I don't get that either.

North Dakota Attorney General Drew Wrigley said there was a 'suggestion' he may have been on an FBI Guardian list.
The lists allow federal and state law enforcement to report terror suspects to the FBI and monitor whether or not an individual is under investigation. The FBI has not yet confirmed that he was on such a list. (Of course he was, they always are!)

As a former deputy US Marshal, I can only sit here with tears in my eyes and anger in my heart. The tears are for the officers, families, loved ones, friends, colleagues and the entire city of Fargo. The anger is for the fact that this incident should never have happened. If that individual would have never been allowed to enter this country until after his asylum hearing, then he would not have been in Fargo that horrible day. I spent my entire life defending our country, the US citizens and our United States Constitution. And yet it feels as though it was for nothing. Why do the job when we have someone in the white house, disregarding the very fabric that this country is made of. The suspect should NEVER have been in this country. The blame starts and ends at the top!

you're saying all of this as if the person that shot them didn't just shoot a random civilian as well and as if the dude was a citizen of america. and don't say they kill innocents everyday as if they only kill innocents. they mainly kill violent suspects, and sometimes a innocent gets shot either through the stupidity of a cop, or because the innocent made one wrong move causing the cop to kill them due to paranoia.
