For what it's worth, Tom Atkins (who played Dr. Challis) insists that for the purposes of the movie, he DID save all the kids.
The novelization makes it clear that he doesn't and they all die and Cochran wasn't vaporized but telported away. I'm not sure if its true but the reason in the movie it was left ambiguous was apparently to let viewers choose the outcome they prefered.

When Halloween III failed at the box office, Carpenter sold his controlling interests in the series to producer Moustapha Akkad (whom insisted on resurrecting Michael Myers to continue the franchise) and wouldn't have anything to do with the series until the 2018 Halloween movie, for which he co-composed the musical score with his son Cody.
AFAIK the first film was supposed to be a one-off story about a bogeyman killer. When they squeezed out the sequel, they added the fact that killer and final girl were related, adding (unnecessary IMO) spice to the films.

But you can't say this is a "bad movie" just for that! Also, thanks to the remakes and reboot it is connected with their allusions to the masks and the ending: it's funnier watching Halloween II ending and the Halloween (2018) intro by understanding where the continously repeated order sentence form comes from or the three masked kid in the 2018 reboot and Halloween Kills

@31:00, this was one heck of a gut punch. I remember as a kid watching this and thinking they were saying Ellie was a robot all the time. But now I see it’s worse - the Shamrock goons killed her and put a robot duplicate in her place. Sad way for our secondary protagonist to go out, alone and outnumbered off screen. 😢😭

When I was a kid, I didn't like Halloween 3, due to Michael Myers not being in it lol, but when I got older & saw it again for what it was meant to be, I realized that it was actually a pretty good movie. It would've made more sense if they had just dropped the 3 & just call it's Halloween: Season of the Witch, but besides that, it's a thrilling & creative movie & in my opinion, better some of the several later Halloween movies after it. Those Androids did have a very Michael Myers type energy about them, lol. The main character, Tom Atkins, is one of my favorite stars in the horror genre & he also appears in some other iconic horror films like, Creepshow, Night of the Creeps, & the Fog which is another film that John Carpenter filmed & also stars Jamie Lee Curtis along several other stars that has worked with Carpenter on several occasions. The next Halloween film has the return of Michael Myers & is actually pretty good, despite Jamie Lee Curtis not being in the next several films, until she returns in H20, the 20th anniversary film, in 1998. She was awesome in that, as with the latest 2 Halloweens. Also, I loved your Sarah Conner & Kyle Reese reference, lol. They would've got the job done in minutes if they were in the movie, haha.

A reaction that made me enjoy this movie, yay! The script could've used a couple more revisions and at least they pronounced Samhain correctly, but ugh, an evil pagan who wants to kill kids and turn adversaries into mindless robots just because he's evil like that, this was definitely a product of its time. I wanted to mention that when you're ready to continue with science fiction, _Starman_ is one of John Carpenter's non-horror films, and Karen Allen's in it (Indie's girl)

Exactly, I love it. It’s no different than any other cheesy 80s b horror popcorn movie. It’s fun and if you look at it as a stand-alone from Halloween, which it honestly is, it’s great and had it not been attached to Halloween, it would have a bigger following imo.

I personally love this movie. It's my favorite Halloween sequel, and I really wish that the franchise continued on as an anthology series. A fair amount of the movie is super silly / doesn't make sense when you really think about it, but I love the tone of the movie and the ambiguous / potentially bleak ending.
I just want to say that I really enjoy your movie watch along videos. You have become one of my favorite RUclipsrs. I like how you seem to genuinely appreciate and enjoy the movies. It is quite refreshing. Other RUclipsrs out there make videos just to be negative. You don’t do that. You make videos to have fun. I like that. My absolute favorite franchise is Friday the 13th I hope to see more of those. I don’t pretend that they are masterpieces, but they are fun, after a day of work, turn your brain off movies. They are comfort food movies. They are awesome. The sequels get more and more silly as they go, but that’s part of the fun of it. They aren’t really meant to be taken too seriously, just to be entertaining.
John Carpenter and Debra Hill were way ahead of their time when they thought of the Halloween franchise. It was essentially meant to be like AHS but on the big screen. My guess is, Halloween 4 would've been the part 2 for Halloween 3, similar to how they did Halloween 1+2. But because the movie did so bad, they had to bring Michael back and put the nail in the coffin for an anthology series.
I had assumed that their plan for a sequel was to do a new story, but Mustapha Akkad saw how much money slasher movies were making and made sure _Halloween II_ would be another Myers movie.

I was waiting for your reaction to Dr. Dan "The Man" Challis and his copious boozing and schmoozing and you DID NOT disappoint 😂🤣. This was the first Halloween movie I ever saw as a kid and on it scarred me on masks for a good few years after lol. Makeup for me, I wasn't taking any chances 😋. Also the novelization does go into a bit more detail regarding what the masks actually due. The script was re-written a few times, however the novelization is based off the original scripwriters vision
Great reaction! I first saw this when i was 6, in 1986, it instantly became my favourite movie and i watched it about twice a week for about 5 years. I still love it but my favourite movie for years keeps alternating between the original Halloween and Die Hard.
This movie is fantastic! After you get over the fact that Mikey isn’t in it & actually immerse yourself in the story, it’s one of the most twisted horror movies ever.
Fun fact: that's actually Jamie Lee Curtis voice who comes over the speakers to announce curfew. Once you know, it stands out clear as day. Also....I'm loving this channel!!! Glad I found it !

I would love to see you react to the horrific imagination in his films. The hellraiser franchise, Lord of illusion, or night breed also I think it would be fun to do a back-to-back of evil Dead 2 followed by army of darkness. one's legit scary and disturbing but the sequel is completely slapstick and hilarious. perfect for Halloween! So, I don't know if anyone mentioned this, but the screenwriter for this was Nigel Kneale, a legend of British science-fiction, which is part of what sets this movie apart from the rest of the series. He's not credited because he was unhappy with the gore-soaked kill scenes thrown into the movie by demand of the executive producer, Dino DeLaurentiis, and so asked to have his name removed.

H20 is OK but it's a scream clone because scream started that mid to late 90's slasher run it doesn't quite feel like Halloween.

A reaction that made me enjoy this movie, yay! The script could've used a couple more revisions and at least they pronounced Samhain correctly, but ugh, an evil pagan who wants to kill kids and turn adversaries into mindless robots just because he's evil like that, this was definitely a product of its time.
I wanted to mention that when you're ready to continue with science fiction, _Starman_ is one of John Carpenter's non-horror films, and Karen Allen's in it (Indie's girl)

I would’ve loved for them to keep the original idea of this being an anthology series with the first one being about a man named Michael who’s going after random babysitters and killing them! I would love to see where it would’ve gone
I'm so glad you did Halloween 3. Alot of people sleep on this movie due to Michael Myers not being in it.
Right? It's still a pretty good movie not as good as the other Halloween movies but it is refined in its own right.
Exactly, I love it. It’s no different than any other cheesy 80s b horror popcorn movie. It’s fun and if you look at it as a stand-alone from Halloween, which it honestly is, it’s great and had it not been attached to Halloween, it would have a bigger following imo.

I personally love this movie. It's my favorite Halloween sequel, and I really wish that the franchise continued on as an anthology series. A fair amount of the movie is super silly / doesn't make sense when you really think about it, but I love the tone of the movie and the ambiguous / potentially bleak ending.
I just want to say that I really enjoy your movie watch along videos. You have become one of my favorite RUclipsrs. I like how you seem to genuinely appreciate and enjoy the movies.

My absolute favorite franchise is Friday the 13th I hope to see more of those. I don’t pretend that they are masterpieces, but they are fun, after a day of work, turn your brain off movies. They are comfort food movies. They are awesome. The sequels get more and more silly as they go, but that’s part of the fun of it. They aren’t really meant to be taken too seriously, just to be entertaining.

John Carpenter and Debra Hill were way ahead of their time when they thought of the Halloween franchise. It was essentially meant to be like AHS but on the big screen. My guess is, Halloween 4 would've been the part 2 for Halloween 3, similar to how they did Halloween 1+2. But because the movie did so bad, they had to bring Michael back and put the nail in the coffin for an anthology series.
I had assumed that their plan for a sequel was to do a new story, but Mustapha Akkad saw how much money slasher movies were making and made sure _Halloween II_ would be another Myers movie.
Girl just keep going after October’s over. I’m too invested in this ride for it to have a seasonal end date.

I was waiting for your reaction to Dr. Dan "The Man" Challis and his copious boozing and schmoozing and you DID NOT disappoint 😂🤣. This was the first Halloween movie I ever saw as a kid and on it scarred me on masks for a good few years after lol. Makeup for me, I wasn't taking any chances 😋. Also the novelization does go into a bit more detail regarding what the masks actually due. The script was re-written a few times, however the novelization is based off the original scripwriters vision

Great reaction! I first saw this when i was 6, in 1986, it instantly became my favourite movie and i watched it about twice a week for about 5 years. I still love it but my favourite movie for years keeps alternating between the original Halloween and Die Hard.

So, I don't know if anyone mentioned this, but the screenwriter for this was Nigel Kneale, a legend of British science-fiction, which is part of what sets this movie apart from the rest of the series. He's not credited because he was unhappy with the gore-soaked kill scenes thrown into the movie by demand of the executive producer, Dino DeLaurentiis, and so asked to have his name removed.
