I had forgotten about this song. Loved it as a child when I'd play my mother's records. Finding this song again was ethereal! Such beautiful and captivating lyrics. My mind can take me there, flying with the eagles on the wings of God's glory.
Hate to disagree, but the Latvian band Prāta Vētra´s songs in Latvian are absolutely sublime. „Kristiānijas suņi“ is the best pop song out there, both music- and text-wise. (And I´m not Latvian btw 🙂 )

when I was a little girl i used to play my mum and dads record of this and spin round imagining mountains and eagles. When I found this video it made the imagination real , no CGI or special effects... the cameramen must be so proud of this footage, it's truly amazing!

Who's listening to this classic of Abba in 2019. I can vividly remembered listening to this song as a little boy in the early 80s. What's worst, this song were playing on the radio when my mother have passed away with Cancer, so everytime I heard this beautiful song, it bring back memories of my belated Mother. This song was written after ABBA's American tour. They were inspired by American rock/pop bands like the Eagles and tried to mimic the American sounds. But, in the ABBA fashion, they went well beyond expectations and put a Swedish pop twist to it all. "Eagle" in my view, is the best of all ABBA's work, and arguably the best pop/rock song of all time.
